Sukhothai Airport

✅ Trip Verified | Sukhothai Airport about as nice an airport as you'll ever find anywhere. It is tiny, really well maintained, and most enjoyable to use. I think it hosts two small plane flights a day (by Bangkok Airways, which also owns the airport), maybe a few more flights. There is one gate. A small complimentary buffet with coffee, tea, banana, sticky rice, cookies and such is at one end. The waiting area is a traditional wood roof, no walls, with wood benches to sit and huge AC machines to help cool. You get to the aircraft on an open air trolley, riding past lily ponds with statues and manicured hedges. There a few local items for sale, and some Bangkok Airline bling. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. The Sukhothai airport zoo is next door, featuring some giraffes and zebra. It was not open both when we arrived, and left, but we could see the animals through a fence. Across the way is what seems to be a dinosaur museum, with many life-size dinosaur statues outside.

✅ Trip Verified | An airport is usually a necessary evil. This one is different; it makes you feel good. It is a facility owned by Bangkok Airways and is a small, efficient and charming outfit. To/from the plane you are transported by small, open, electric buses to the arrival/departure hall. These are roofed but in the open air surrounded by a neat park. On arrival, luggage arrived in minutes and delivered to the small arrival hall. Check-in and security took minutes without any shortcut but with customer attention and care. The pasture hall has no shopping (Great) but serves some complimentary snacks. Restrooms, as indeed the entire facility, was spotlessly clean. A true "feelgood" facility. Other Bangkok Airways facilities in Thailand follow the same attractive concept.

Sukhothai Airport owned by Bangkok Boutique Airlines is a great little secret gem not to be missed. Due to its size you feel like a celebrity. A flower festooned approach greeted by security officers in their shorts and old colonial hats checking in outdoors the open feel the gardens water dripping from the roof to keep customers cool. The check in staff all line up and 'wai' you to send you off and the ground staff at the aircraft do the same. Priority boarding for monks of course. Exotic and fabulous with the usual Bangkok Airlines free drinks and snacks.
