"Cagliari Airport is an absolute shambles"
29 reviews R Darsena (Brazil)
✅ Trip Verified | Cagliari Airport is an absolute shambles. From the moment of arrival, it's clear that chaos reigns supreme. The staff seem overwhelmed, resorting to shouting to manage the crowds. Flight delays are the norm, and passengers are left completely in the dark with no information provided. The airport is plagued by frequent blackouts, adding to the confusion and slowing down everything to a crawl. The situation is exacerbated by the lack of proper air conditioning. With temperatures soaring, passengers are forced to endure sweltering conditions, leading to discomfort and distress. While the airport's train connection is a positive aspect, the closure of flypasses leading to the airport is an added inconvenience. It's truly disheartening to witness such a poorly managed airport in this day and age. Cagliari Airport is a black eye for Europe and a complete embarrassment for Sardinia. It's clear that urgent improvements are needed to bring this airport up to even the most basic standards. I strongly advise travelers to avoid Cagliari Airport if at all possible.

"no proper queue and security distance"
S Shaw (United Kingdom)
✅ Trip Verified | The only complaint is the lack of logic in boarding flights. In COVID time would be ideal to board from seat number starting from the back of the plane in order to avoid contact with people seating in front rows. In Cagliari don’t seem to know at all this method that we have experienced at Heathrow airport and Fiumicino airport as well. We tried to suggest it to the airport staff doing the boarding but they seem clueless and helpless. Big crowd gathering at the same time with no proper queue and security distance. I wish a manager at Cagliari airport would have the kindness to reply and explain why. It would be so easy to update the system and believe me, the boarding will be quicker and safer. Thank you.

"departing from this airport is much better than arriving"
Tony McLaughlin (United Kingdom)
✅ Trip Verified | This is a European regional airport, and a tale of two airports really. The non-Schengen flights come from Gatwick (BA) Stansted and Dublin (Ryanair) as well as a flight from Moscow. When all four arrive at roughly the same time, Passport Control is chaotic. There were two snake queues, those with identity Cards only were ushered into one, and those with Passports ushered into another. A third queue then formed and this is where the chaos began, and people were jumping from queue to queue. The departing situation was a lot better. Quite a busy departures area, but nicely designed. The gates for the non-Schengen destinations are 20 – 23. Passengers can go here straight away and clear Passport Control. Once through Passport Control, Ryanair passengers should head downstairs to gates 22 & 23, while BA passengers should wait in the lounge just through Passport Control. Not sure where the Mosco flight departs from. I doubt if I will be travelling here again anytime soon, but departing from this airport is much better than arriving at it.

This is my home airport. Completely renewed a few years ago it's now a very good and modern airport. Near the city center (just 5 minutes by car). It's a small airport but it's probably the better choice to come to Sardinia. Depending on winds you can have a fantastic view over the famous sardinian beaches from your airplane window. In the summer sometimes you may find crowds at security checks. There are just a few overpriced shops but this is common in italian airports. Car rentals taxis and bus are easy available.

New nice and clean. This is the way I found this airport services are quite good even if restaurants bars and services in general could be improved. But this is a recent airport and the overall experience has been positive maybe in the future it will earn some more "stars".

Clean and efficient I was very impressed with Elmas airport. Staff are friendly and the airport is very well connected to the city centre by bus. The fare is only 0.67 €. Only one negative point once you're past the international departures hall there are no shops only one small cafe' near gate 23 otherwise this is one of the best regional airports I have visited so far.
