✅ Trip Verified | After having travelled around the globe Belize Airport is the most inefficient and unfriendly airport I’ve encountered so far. At arrival long waiting time (more than an hour) to get through customs with my family with three kids. Unclear instruction about forms to fill in. Being treated like we did something wrong, tone of voice of customs personnel completely out of order. After passing the first checkpoint there was a second one checking all the paperwork of their colleague again and raising pointless questions to us. The departure procedure was not much better, rude personnel at customs desks. Yes again more forms to fill out and again two separate booths. Really bad vibe entering the country and when leaving. So unnecessary.

Not Verified | Covid social distance rules totally out the window. Departure area very very over crowded. Lack of seating, poor air ventilation. This is a sight for a super spreader event! Not a great experience after such a wonderful holiday vacation when a Gold Standard suppliers have worked so hard to offer a Covid safe environment.

Friendly little airport, but no preferred traveler or TSA Precheck. No public transit. Taxi to Belize City is $25 US. Forget Wi-Fi. No airport restaurants. There are small duty free shops, coffee shop with bakery, and a few tourist shops with snacks for sale. Duty free stores have many local rums at a cheap price. Very un-comfortable hardwood seating. The one pretend "restaurant" is a booth in the passenger waiting area. Order overpriced cooked food, then the order taker disappears. Wait 25 minutes for scrambled eggs. When it finally arrives, the order is wrong and food is inedible. No dining area seating.

Small minimal facilities not much to do while you wait. Staff are friendly and efficient. The day we arrived there was live music playing in the customs area - nice touch! We walked out of the terminal to be greeted immediately by our tour arranger.

My trip to Belize took me through BZE 3 times. It is a classic sleepy 2-room airport: an updated arrivals hall with a mechanical carousel a communal departure area serving the 4 or 6 gates (glass doors really) that lead to the tarmac separated by the small warm somewhat chaotic check-in area. Some staff were friendly and enthusiastic security checks were minimal. Few large jets come to BZE but they do seem to be timed near each other. Most flights are prop planes to the interior and the offshore reefs. There is a pleasant open air deck that allows views of arriving and departing passengers walking to and from their planes. There is nothing else to do while waiting for your flight. Bring a book. Amenities are few: tiny gifts shops snack bars and a cafeteria. A good place to people watch. Very stress-free and it serves its purpose. Ambergris Cay was our real destination. Well worth the trip!
