"much passenger confusion"

(Netherlands)

Verified Review | Strasbourg airport is a nice enough regional airport, but I do not recommend it for transit passengers for the following reason: It is not designed to deal with them, despite many regional flights using it as a changeover location. You have to pass customs and security when arriving, then go straight back through at the departures end of the airport. With a typical transit flight having 30 minutes between your arrival, and your next flight departing (so your connecting flight is officially already boarding the moment you land) this can be a challenge. Thankfully, the security check to get to the gates is quick and efficient. I made my connection, though I wonder if I would have if my connecting flight hadn't been delayed. I was surprised that on my return flight to Amsterdam, I was required to pass customs, even though France and The Netherlands are both Schengen countries. Access to the gate was blocked until someone came to man the border control area, 15 minutes after passengers were asked to proceed to the gate. No staff had any idea why, so there was much passenger confusion.

Strasbourg Airport customer review

(France)

Strasbourg is a nice and convenient regional airport. Baggage claim is quick. The information desk is friendly and helpful. A covered walkway links the terminal to the train station. Travel to downtown Strasbourg costs €220 one-way and takes 10 mins - while trains run frequently weekdays service is much more reduced during the weekend (only one or two trains per hour). Beware that the ticket machines accept coins or French credit cards only and that the airport station is called "Entzheim Aeroport" and not Strasbourg Aeroport! Upon departure check-in and security screening are hassle-free. For a longer wait there is a so-called relaxation area on the 1st floor above the information booth - few people know about it although the area has comfortable seats working tables and power sockets! On the downside there is no airconditioning there so that the area can be quite warm.
