Luton Airport

I'm normally not one to complain easily but Luton today was a very unpleasant experience. The wait at security was almost half an hour and yet 6 out of 12 positions were closed. And that's on a Friday afternoon/evening. On top some of the staff were really grumpy and unfriendly.

Avoid if travelling to London. The airport bus is a misery and adds an hour to your transfer time by the time you've waited not been able to get on the first bus bought a ticket fought through traffic and then left at the station with 150 other passengers and 1 ticket desk. Gatwick and even Stansted much easier airport/rail interchange.

Why is Luton Airport charging for trolleys? I just had to witness a foreign visitor struggling in tears with her luggage and children as she didn't have any pounds or euros. I gave her the money she needed. I felt ashamed to be English!

Sadly not a good experience. Landed at 11.35 massive passport queue not organised very well then onto baggage collect our flight came in before others and we were last out I couldn't believe it took an hour and a half. The airport needs more staff!

The worst UK airport in my experience. Most other airports supply free plastic bags at security for toothpaste etc Luton charge for this. Luton charges £2 for trolleys the last thing a passenger arriving from overseas needs if they have no change. We waited over an hour for our baggage on our return. Large queues at security it appears that they open and close x-ray stations to ensure long queues so people have to pay for priority security nowhere to put your shoes back on. Insufficient seating in the departure lounge almost no seating by the gates. Will only use this airport as a last report.

Very hostile place especially if you approach with a car would rather avoid it altogether if possible.

Had early Tuesday morning flight with easyJet to Mykonos. Taxi set-down was ok if a bit of a chilly walk into terminal which is not easy with young children. After reading reports of delays and queues booked priority lane which worked well. Staff were friendly. Only downside charging non-refundable £2 for a trolley.

We flew in and out of Luton airport recently and found the whole experience very good the staff were always pleasant and helpful a real pleasure to pass through. My wife and I both commented on the good experience quite a refreshing change from many airports we have experienced.

Flew into London Luton last night - what a nightmare - worst airport experience by far. Airport staff were just plain incompetent runway wasn't ready gate wasn't ready had to be bussed in to terminal but buses weren't ready etc. But the worst was dealing with their sadistic border control agents who deliberately dragged on what should have been a straightforward process even though I was with my exhausted 5 year old and it was way past midnight. Will avoid this airport at all costs in the future.

Luton airport just not able to handling the numbers of flights at all. When 3 flights arrive nearly same time the passport checking ruin your scheduled connection because they not able to handling such number of passengers. I'm a little Why? It looks so simple more passengers need more service! Any other airport management able to handling this only Luton airport management not care about this! My suggestion is avoid this airport or watch out when they are busy with flights - more than three flights arrival within 30 mins are too much for them!
