I am delighted that there are so many passport scanners to process entering citizens. However the lines were backed up because the officers did not guide the passengers to the scanners that they could not see were not in use. Yes passengers have to be assisted in how to use the scanners. There were officers doing that, but there were several just in lala land. There has to be a system telling the citizens that there were empty scanners. So the line was long and the scanners that were no visible to the waiting passengers went unused. So either train the officers to tell the awaiting passengers that there is an empty scanner or give the scanners a number and when empty the passengers can go. Just observe and see if I am right.

By far the worst airport experience. They changed the terminal and I would have thought they would take the opportunity to catch up with the rest of the world and become efficient friendly and into the 21st century. Using the transit lounge is probably twice as bad as getting your luggage from the carousel and re-entering through security as if you were coming into and exiting America. It is unacceptable that this happens in LAX shocking. I know for sure that I will refuse to travel this route in future favouring even Korea instead of this backwards USA route - 100% dissatisfied and unimpressed.

With ongoing construction LAX has turned into an even more chaotic mess than it usually is. I flew into and out of here on VX and also flew to SIN lucky for me I had laid over three days on the outbound and two days on the inbound for if I was connecting I'd recommend at least 3-4 hours minimum as signage for connecting flights is lacking. The food options are surprisingly limited for such a busy airport even SFO puts this place to shame in that department though no U.S. airport could really hope to compete with Singapore Changi. Returning to the U.S.it took forever to clear immigration and customs with a few A380s arriving simultaneously you'd think the powers that be would have considered this when they were bringing those big planes in. Luckily I'd brought my mobile hotspot with me for the airports' own wifi never really worked well. No wonder visitors to the U.S. try to avoid LAX whenever possible too chaotic crowded staff can be surly though there are a few really nice people you have to seek them out.

Never a good way to enter the USA. Immigration is a mess slow and not very friendly. Baggage claim is ok but customs can be a nightmare.

I connected in LAX on my trip from LHR to SAN from TBIT to T4. I don't have much experience about connecting through US airports except international connections in MIA and had no particular expectations having heard how messy it could seem. Immigration was somewhat disturbing as agents came in front of the line you are waiting in and ask if there are any US citizens in that line. If so they are kindly authorised to cut the line and clear immigration before anyone else. I guess they know better and usually open different desks for US and non US citizen apart otherwise I don't understand this way of handling things. After that I collected my bag and cleared customs really quickly (no line) and re-dropped my bag so it could continue to my connection. After that I got out and felt like I was literally out of the airport with cars driving by and shuttle waiting for passengers. This is the moment one should be aware of: know before your flight which terminal you are supposed to go to as there is not that much of an explanation. My outbound flight was a domestic hop with American Eagle which departs from a remote satellite of T4. So if happening be aware that once in T4 you will have to wait for another shuttle that takes you to a mini terminal with a couple of gates from where your plane will departs (and adds 15-20 minutes before you reach your actual gate). It's not that I would particularly recommend LAX but it manages to handle a lot of passengers which may have its downside. If connecting there know where you are going print a map avoid tight connection relax and you'll be out of there as quick as you can.

As a younger first time international flyer coming in from Australia my experience coming into the US through LAX was awful. From the moment I stepped off the plane I was met with nothing but rude workers. My flight arrived early so the queues were very fast. However Immigration was intrusive and condescending. I'm completely okay with answering their questions but the way they were asked was unacceptable. I was then rudely addressed and yelled at by customs officers who were also laughing at the struggling family beside me. I've never seen such disrespectful behavior to the public. Things like this make travelling to the US very unappealing. The staff of this airport should be ashamed.

Bad news for Los Angeles and the US so many Kiwis Australians Asians just like the rest of us have had such appalling experiences in LAX they now fly though Vancouver to get to Europe. Thus Canada gets the benefit of their tourist dollars and the US misses out. Doesn't the LAX management realise that their airport is not about "herding cattle" with surly staff but is the point of entry to a new country and the beginning of a tourist experience? Such a bad image for the US. Having just returned to Canada from San Diego on United Express (Commuter terminal not mentioned on my ticket) to LAX then on Air Canada to Vancouver the whole terminal is old and such a mess. The Shuttle bus drops passengers off at the arrival level and there is no signage that one has to get upstairs for Departures or for that matter how one gets upstairs to the correct Ticket Counter. Then there is the outrageous crowded rude staff confusing security check in. How they expect to create strong security defies description? My husband and I are older and due to no fault of our own (we are experienced travellers) we were late for our LAX-YVR flight. We had to run and were last to board. I swear I will never ever go through LAX again and will make the same recommendation to our international and local friends.

This is amongst the worst airports in the world for an arriving international traveller. I fly to Asia on a regular basis and even airports in such developing countries as Mongolia Myanmar Bangladesh and Nepal have more user friendly processes than LAX. It amazes me that the US with all its other attractions for visitors would continue to discourage international visitors by treating them the way the Immigration Customs and Homeland Security do at LAX. On my last visit there I spent 1.5 hours in a queue standing in a dirty hot arrival hall. The staff were disinterested and rude. No smiles or 'welcome to the US'. Whoever is responsible for the management of this place should hang their head in shame. I am reminded to write this review as I need to visit New York in a few months and I have been looking at ways of getting there without going through LAX. Frankly the thought of going through LAX discourages me from wanting to visit the US at all.

In my opinion LAX is probably the worst International Airport in the US. I usually make my international connection there so I can't comment on other domestic terminals. Connecting from domestic AA flight to International terminal (and vice versa) requires you to get outside and walk. It is not a long walk but can be confusing to folks who is not familiar with LAX. International terminal is relatively small (for such a busy airport) and crowded layout is confusing. Long lines everywhere and make a congested mess around terminal entrance and exit area. I also rate food choices as poor and extremely expensive (if not highest in US airports).

Had a 5.5 connection in the TBIT (from NZ en route to Europe). How can you run a major international connection terminal and have no shower options for passengers? None of the 5 airline affiliated lounges accepted drop-in fees and my Koru lounge pass wasn't valid for the Air NZ run Star Alliance lounge? I can't think of any other airport in the world that doesn't have a paid public shower available. Food options were surprisingly limited as well. Come on LAX this is just lame.
