"now a very poor airport in all areas"
Richard Rubbra (United Kingdom)
Stansted is now a very poor airport in all areas. Heating goes off at night and it becomes a very cold place. The new baggage check area has in my experience not made it quicker as the entrance is too small and people are channeled along like sheep. The area that you now arrive in after walking the walk of shopping death is so small they even get staff to tell people not to sleep to free up space. The toilets are completely inadequate. The flight displays are so small you cannot see your flight without getting real close. The worst airport I have ever been through and busily getting worst!

"fast and efficient"
Consuela de Martinez (United Kingdom)
Airport was very busy first thing (flight departed 0710), but didn't have to wait long to get the bus from the long stay car park. Went through fast track at security - fast and efficient. Departure lounge was busy but we could have found seats if we wanted to, we went to Pret for breakfast instead. The wifi is dreadful - couldn't connect. On the return flight we used the e-gates (fast) and we're waiting for our luggage less than 15 minutes after getting off the plane. Then had to wait 25 minutes for the bags to arrive! Got straight onto a bus to the car park (very helpful driver). All in all an easy and pleasant experience.

"offers little or no customer service"
Russell Padmore (Ireland)
It took more than an hour to get through security and consequently I missed my flight. When I complained the security staff refused to answer my questions but did confirm the average wait should be 20 minutes. Dozens of people missed their flights and when I persisted in asking for the senior security supervisor the staff claimed my awkward questions made me a security risk and they called for security support. I suffered considerable extra cost and inconvenience and all I was given was an email address to write to as staff evaded all my questions for basic information. Conclusion: Stansted airport is unprofessional, uncaring and offers little or no customer service.

"sailed through passport control"
John Kenny (United Kingdom)
Really do think experience of Stansted depends on the time of travel. Arrived 3.30pm for flight to Alicante. Through security in 15 minutes. Yes like most big airports there are lots of shops who all want your money but like anything can be avoided if required. More seating available since last visit in June due to more work being completed. Arrived back on delayed flight at 1.30am and sailed through passport control, no queue at all. Overall reasonably pleasant experience.

"Awful experience. Awful place"
R Griffiths (United Kingdom)
Awful experience. Awful place. It took longer to get out of Stansted (over two hours) than it did to fly back from Spain. Stansted has lost the plot, its focus is on commercial trade rather than on getting passengers on and off planes quickly and efficiently. None of the electronic checking gates worked properly, log queues forming while the minimum of staff ran around like headless chickens trying to sort problem after problem. Hated it. Would not fly from there again.

"never have enough staff"
D East (United Kingdom)
I have been flying from this airport for many years and as I live close I have no choice but to use it. It takes far too long to fly in and out of this airport compared to any other destinations that I travel to. They never have enough staff to give any real quality service.

"has never been a good airport"
Neil Stanley (United Kingdom)
I use Stansted on a weekly basis and have done for a number of years. It has never been a good airport but since it was taken over by MAG it has become worse in pretty much every aspect. Automatic passport readers work half the time. Queues for passport and security are huge. Toilets and seating inadequate. Display board minute. Gate notification times designed ton increase shopping time not convenience of the passengers. I wish I never had to use this airport again.

"no longer am I willing to put up with this"
David Foster (United Kingdom)
Been using Stanstead for over 30 years and it has now degenerated into a Department Store masquerading as an airport. I used fast track security and that worked fine but then you have to meander through the shopping area with sales assistants trying to sell all manner of cosmetics. Then you get to the waiting area, truly disgusting. Seats, if you can get one, are threadbare and the display boards are so small people have to congregate close to them in order to be able to read them. Oh and then theres the frustration of not putting gate numbers up until 15 minutes before the gate closes, come on Stanstead this is a joke you only have to miss one shuttle and you are pushing your luck with the cheaper carriers. As for immigration how come my passport works fine in Amsterdam but not on the low rent cheap readers in Stansted? Perhaps cheap is the pointer. One of the passport monitors was ver pleasant and quickly pointed me to the human reader however I was intercepted by the other monitor who told me off for not trying more than once so I dutifully did and it failed again, she disappeared at that point to chastise someone else. From now on its Southend for me no longer am I willing to put up with this.

"must be the worst airport"
Lynda Mackness (United Kingdom)
Must be the worst airport, we arrived at 3am and being in our late sixties just wanted to sit down and wait for our departure. After going through a maze of shops which were very well presented, but not what I needed at 3am, we came to the waiting area which was awful, young people were laying asleep across three seats so therefore we could not find a seat. The eating places were full and we eventually found a small cafe with two stools where we had a drink and took a little longer to drink it so we sit down. Why can't security wake these ignorant people up so that they occupy one seat, I was bought up to respect other people. Surely it is the duty of Stansted to make visitors comfortable and their experience of the airport a good one. We also paid for meet and greet which was a joke why they call it that I do not know, rubbish. Hence to say we will not be using that airport again. They should take a look at Birmingham airport and how they do things, although it has not so much traffic from there.

"normally go to airports to catch planes"
Fernando Blasi (United Kingdom)
There was a huge queue at Stansted Airport security controls. Early morning around 5:45. took a long time to clear security. Result, plane missed despite frenzied run to catch the plane in time. Also, the time it takes to reach the gates has been increased due to the obligatory slalom through the shoppling area. I would normally go to airports to catch planes, not to do shopping.
