"had to wait over an hour for our luggage"
M Hocking (United Kingdom)
We arrived on time from Faro on Sat afternoon 11/06/16, 4 out of the 5 in our party had e Passports, but only 4 of the channels were open so this still took far too long. The 5th person coming via the non e PP route was over an hour. Once through to the baggage collection area, we had to wait over an hour for our luggage. A polite enquiry as to the reason why was met with the response "a lot of flights all turned up at once we are doing our best", in reply we pointed out that aeroplanes do randomly fly about and land where their fancy takes them, they must have known in advance what was due from where and when, the obvious answer is more staff/vehicles. We had had a lovely holiday but it took as long to get out of Stansted as it did to get there from Faro. Do the people who "organise" Stansted not realise customers have a choice, or is their aim to be equally shabby in their attitude to customers at every airport. Maybe some of the people in control should travel a bit and see how pleasant and friendly staff are in other countries, we could learn a lot, they understand that our business and patronage is earned not a divine right. I expected to be moaning about Ryanair if anything, but actually they were fine, the delays and misery started once we were under the Airports control.

"so much pressure on so few staff"
Susan Carmichael (United Kingdom)
London Stansted is the worst airport I have experienced. The level of incompetence and disorganisation passing through sercurity is a joke. There is so much pressure on so few staff dealing with horrendous queues, you are hearded like cattle through the airport. Returning to the UK was a miserable experience with once again horrendous queues to go through passport control - this took over 1 hour. An absolutely ridiculous situation, I can only assume those who have organised this system obviously do not travel - will not be returning.

"passport control unacceptable"
James Russell (United Kingdom)
Queuing at London Stansted passport control on arrival is just unacceptable. We have e-passports now but only 3 kiosks open? Following the refurbishment this must be improved. Departure is ok and parking and shopping all good. Just sort out passport control.

"dreadful treatment"
Peter Hollebon (United Kingdom)
Why do we put up with the dreadful treatment we experience using Stansted Airport? Awful shopping mall which you are forced to pass through to get to anywhere useful for the average traveller. I do not go to an airport to shop nor does anyone else I know. Lack of comfortable seating airside. Expensive and poor quality (in the main) catering. Disinterested staff at every level. Dreadful immigration experience on return to Stansted. The passport hall is a nightmare and I do not appreciate endlessly walking up and down rows being encourage to "keep moving guys" when all I want to do is clear immigration and go home. Preventing illegal entry to UK is one thing but treating passengers (especially foreign visitors) like this is just not on. Come on Manchester Airport Group and the Home office, you must be able to do better than this. As a result of the above, I now use Southend and Gatwick wherever possible. BA what are you thinking of operating out of Stansted? If you don't effect improvements with MAG you will lose goodwill and passengers.

"herded like cattle"
Will Drennan (United Kingdom)
Flight landed on time at Stansted but masses of people herded like cattle along endless lines to be processed by 5 or 6 immigration officers. The very basics non existent - only threatening signs suggesting use of aggressive language will not be tolerated. I had just got off a flight dehydrated with children under 6 and the queue took 2 hours - totally totally unacceptable. What must foreign tourists think of us? No signage, no seating for the elderly and 5 or 6 staff available at the end of school holidays - a disgrace.

"has become more expensive"
N Tanvir (United Kingdom)
Stansted used to be my favoured UK airport, given a choice, but no longer. Since it was revamped a couple of years ago, whole experience has become more expensive and much less pleasant. Parking costs more, security today took an hour of queuing, and then one is forced to walk for through the endless shopping areas to get to where you want to go - but good luck if you can find a seat.

"a most unpleasant experience"
Bob Barker (United Kingdom)
A most unpleasant experience, both departure and particularly arrival. Since the re-vamp, security is a nightmare, it is a claustrophobic and depressing area where you are made to feel like cattle. Passport control on return was a hideous snaking queues. Staff and signage unhelpful when seeking the correct passport check area. By choice, I would rather not use Stansted, the money-grabbing for drop off and pickup is appalling.

"only shrugged their shoulders"
M Koops (United Kingdom)
Arrived late (after incoming flights was delayed by 5 hours) at Stansted and only had 50 minutes for my transfer to another flight. Then found the passport queue was massive. I asked staff "managing" the queue to please help me but they only shrugged their shoulders. I had to ask around 500 people queueing one by one if they would mind letting me go first. Absolute hell. There appears to be no way to fast-track through passport control in an emergency and staff are just incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful.

"lack of organisation"
Valerie Bliss (United Kingdom)
I eventually arrived at Stansted on 23 May for a 6.40 a.m. Ryanair flight, having experienced horrendous traffic queues to get to the £3 drop off point, my travelling companion then had a nightmare journey to the Long Term Car Park due to traffic and security was tremendously congested. I have been appalled by the lack of organisation and absence of infrastructure which has been particularly noticeable on this trip. I returned yesterday from Chania, Crete, after a relaxing and enjoyable holiday to utter chaos at Stansted. There were no luggage trolleys to be found at the baggage area and when we joined the hordes of people waiting for the Long Stay Car Park bus, there was no orderly system in place and tempers were frayed because 3 buses came and went and there was no queueing system. The barrier which was segmented to provide access to the 3 doors of the coach was completely blocked by the throng of people and to make matters worse the bus that arrived overshot the barrier, allowing those who arrived last to get on the bus and those unfortunates who had been waiting ages, especially parents with prams or those like me with heavy luggage didn't stand a chance. It was stressful and exhausting and we were eventually transported like animals jammed into a confined space. I was ashamed of what visitors to Stansted must have thought. It seems to be more interested in the shopping concept [with consequent extra mileage to get round all the stands] than transporting people with dignity from place to place. Whatever has happened to Stansted Airport?

"not at all passenger friendly"
Caroline Lufti (United Kingdom)
Stansted used to be a good airport and it is one we still use, but only because of it's proximity to where we live. Over the years we have seen it go from a lovely, airy spacious airport to a crowded, cramped and not at all passenger friendly one. The security queues are always ridiculously long, and the "new" departure area is gloomy and has very little seating, it's all shops now. Arrivals is no better as there are never enough people on the immigration desks to allow for the amount of passengers arriving. From now on I will be using Southend airport whenever possible.
