"lots of bottlenecks"
Alden Tian (Netherlands)
KLIA is so inefficient with lots of bottlenecks. On arrival I love the fast train service to KL. But there was a holdup on the elevators causing unnecessary delays. On departure, it has massive check in counters. But the long queues is ridiculous for Malaysia Airlines. Not enough booths open. Nice is the fact you can checkin quite early leaving you with only carryon bags. In the 2 terminals there are lots of shopping and food options. Also free transfer to close by Outlet mall.

"horrifying experience"
C Toh (Singapore)
Visited KLIA2 at Kuala Lumpur on 20th December 2015 - absolutely horrifying experience. Check in was disorganised, staff clueless, crowd management was horrible. We got to the airport 3 hours early and was stuck in the check in queue for almost 2 hours. Besides the fact that facilities are new, I'm not sure how KLIA2 got such a high rating.

"Shopping offering is mediocre"
Kai Chun Ong (Malaysia)
Terminal 1 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport it is quite clean overall. Shopping offering is mediocre, and there really isn't much to do, particularly if you don't have lounge access and having to roam around with nothing to do before boarding. But the rain-forest located at the airport was a not bad experience for me.

"KLIA2 was totally messy"
Mingxiu Huang (Singapore)
Went to KL for a day trip last week. KLIA2 was totally messy. The departure hall was crammed with people, it made the check in process chaotic. Airside has few shops and amenities and does not even have a place for viewing. I can't believe KLIA2 was a new terminal as it lacks so much compared to the main satellite terminal.

"one of a kind"
2 reviews Azizul Ismail (Malaysia)
The new Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 is one of a kind, the concept of having shopping complex within an airport or airport within the shopping complex offering any visitors choices unparalleled by any airport and on par with any full fledged shopping complex. The gate distance was a bit far, but it is understandable due to the design of the terminal which was purposed built to accommodate the low cost airliner in this region, and also the ever increasing number of planes for most of the low cost airliner. For the main Kuala Lumpur International Airport, even though it felt empty, but actually due to the size, the airport never felt too crowded, and this particular airport serves the purposes. The cleanliness should be improved a bit. But overall, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (including the KLIA2) is still one of a kind in this region.

"terminal lacks space for passengers"
Kuhan Kandiah Chelvanathan (Malaysia)
Terminal 1 (KLIA Kuala Lumpur) - Long lines for certain flights' check in process but overall alright. Food prices can be overpriced. The airport needs a middle class food pricing and not fine dining pricing like it currently charges. Taxi touts still have a strong presence. The express train to the city is the best option to beat the traffic. Terminal 2 (KLIA2) - Check in area is extremely congested due to limited space for passenger check in. This terminal lacks space for passengers and the focus is more on ancillary and food outlets in the check in area. Food options are vast and definitely better than Terminal 1. Expect a lot of walking as the terminal has a mall built in it for a better shopping experience. Plan extra time to walk to the gates due to the size of the terminal.

"no more visiting this airport"
S Pai (Indonesia)
I regret using Malaysian Airlines because it means I have to transit through Kuala Lumpur Airport, the most over rated and underperforming SE Asian airport. I had to fly to Australia and transited via KLIA in July and it was awful. First and foremost - where are the seats for transit passengers? The only seating we found was near and inside the gates. There are some limited chairs outside, and we finally parked ourselves near the train station. The other option is to kill six hours inside a restaurant which for us was impossible. To begin with the vegetarian options are extremely limited - there is no Indian food restaurant. The AC does not work. One is made to walk long stretches and even board a train. It's a far cry from Singapore which has seats at every corner, and great vegetarian fare. KLIA's problems are coupled with the work ethic and attitude of their staff - they don't give a damn, and this includes the restaurant staff including those of outlets like Starbucks. The Toilets remained uncleaned, and the trash bins not refreshed - for the whole night during our transit from there. Sadly this has been my experience in the past too, and I was hoping they had improved, but I have learnt - no more visiting this airport.

"it is quite clean overall"
19 reviews Francis Wong (Hong Kong)
I have never really liked KLIA in general. I did not like it 3 years ago, and still do not like it much now. True, it is spacious but the distance between 2 terminals were so great, the fact that one has to always use the light rail is somewhat annoying. I find their signages were also not clear. Airport lounges are mostly installed upstairs, takes a bit of searching. Luckily, it is quite clean overall. Shopping offering is mediocre, and there really isn't much to do, particularly if you don't have lounge access and having to roam around with nothing to do before boarding. An hour or two is ok, anything longer than that you need to think twice.

"all the facilities are new"

KLIA 2 is a huge terminal and you have to walk quite far from one place to another. Overall, it is one of the better terminals since all the facilities are new and you can find almost anything you need in this airport.

"longest walking to gates"
1 reviews Jens Kuntze (Malaysia)
KLIA Kuala Lumpur Airport Terminal 2 (Air Asia) is probably an airport with the longest walking ways to the gates. The check in, immigration and safety check are efficient. If you can walk fast you don't need more time than at other airports.
