Bournemouth Airport

On 7th April I arrived to pick someone up from Bournemouth Airport - a quick 5-minute job for which I had to pay £2.50 of course. But we found that we couldn't move out of the car park. There was a long queue of cars ahead of us and nothing moved. It was raining heavily and we didn't fancy getting out to investigate at first but eventually did and found that the exit barrier wasn't working. Nobody was doing anything to rectify this. After about half an hour some staff arrived to sort it out. Nobody offered any explanation or apology to anyone about this at all. One man who complained to the staff was treated quite rudely. I don't think much of the airport procedures if they cannot sort something like this quickly - perhaps re-route the cars out of the car park or lift the barrier manually or something. It's typical of airports that when there are delays nobody explains properly what the problem is and nobody apologises. Don't think we will use Bournemouth again.

The airport is convenient for us and we use it at least 3 times a year. However the parking/drop down charges are extortionate and unavoidable - great to have monopoly power isn't it. Similar airports allow free drop downs or 10 minutes free parking - as Bournemouth used to. If you use a car park other than the ones at Bournemouth you are required to undertake a dangerous walk with baggage to the airport in order to avoid charges. This drop down charge really needs to be changed - it immediately puts travellers in a bad mood. The facilities have steadily improved over the years and although eating is quite expensive you don't have to buy their food. I have not found queuing to be any worse than at any other airport - return queues are long because of security restrictions. You can always arrive early to avoid long queues on the outward journey. I have found Southampton airport to be the best local one easy to get to by train and helpful staff. Bournemouth could learn from them.

We returned from Malaga on a flight that arrived at 8.25 in the evening. Once we has passed through the security and collected our bags we found no Taxi or bus service( buses only run until 7pm in the evening.) THEN had to endure 45 mins outside in the freezing cold for a taxi along with about 20 other people And they have the cheek to call this Bournemouth International Airport I don't think so. Why they cannot have Taxis waiting when they know flights are arriving what about people that have no transport or anyone to collect them.

I live in Bournemouth and think we have done a great deal of good with our airport of late however on arriving back on Sunday morning from Malaga there were a fair number of non UK residents on my flight imagine the impression it presents when they get to the baggage hall to first find only 1 female toilet and then not in a good clean condition in addition no toilet paper just an empty spool I take on board this was 9.10am however I assume we are at some stage going to get an update of the arrivals hall but this is no excuse for not have the facilities clean and tidy. Not a good start to the start of their stay with us.

They don't care about their customers. This is our local airport so I try and use it when I can. We flew out to Turkey on 5th September. We arrived at 11.50am for our 2.04pm flight so we thought we were in plenty of time wrong again. It took us until 1.30pm to get through checking and security. Then when we got into departures we were called for boarding straight away. No time for a meal or a browse around the shops.

This was the very first time we have ever flown from Bournemouth Airport. We (3 adults and 3 Children) flew out of Bournemouth on Friday 13th. As much as we had our reservations flying on this date we can honestly say that it is one of the best airports we have flown from. After reading all of the negative reviews prior to the 13th we were apprehensive however utilising a little common sense we viewed Ryanair's baggage allowance and also printed a copy to take along should there be any disagreement at the airport. Arriving 2 hours prior to departure there were no issues / arguments / disagreements in fact everything was fab. The airport staff throughout were friendly and helpful. We will be flying from Bournemouth again following our experience.

I live in Bournemouth but travel to Southampton or London for flights. I've used Bournemouth a few times and end up starting my holiday in a foul mood so I now avoid it like the plague. This airport is an embarrassment to local people and I feel ashamed that any overseas travellers should experience the petty penny pinching ethos of this airport. No drop off and pick up point extortionate short term car parking fees charges for plastic bags to put makeup etc in disgusting food in the cafeteria at extortionate prices to name but a few. I have to pick up a friend on Saturday and am annoyed already that I'm going to be charged car parking even if she's waiting on the pavement. Never will I use this airport again!

Bournemouth airport. Rip off for clear bags. Charges. You have to pay £2.50 to even drop off at the door - ie. you can't drop off. You then have to pay £1 for clear plastic bags for liquid!

I have flown from various airports in the UK but was persuaded to come all the way from Manchester to fly from Bournemouth. I have never seen anything like it from been ripped off for because you to have to pay for parking to be dropped off and picked up to no information boards upon arrival to show you where to go and what check-in to use. They should be at the front entry points to the airport as in all other airports! At the time we returned there was only our flight in but it took ages for the baggage to appear and to clear passport control. I hope you don't need the toilet on your return they only have 1 toilet for each sex and a toilet for the disabled in the baggage hall.

This is a small local airport that's very convenient for local people to use and avoid having to go to Gatwick or Heathrow. Southampton Airport is not very far away and the facilities there are so much better and they have a free drop off zone which is under cover. So much better than Bournemouth. The approach road into Bournemouth Airport has traffic cones all the way down each side and the centre of the road making it look like a motorway under repair and that's to prevent motorists stopping to drop people off without using their expensive car park. There's no pathway from the main road either so anyone dropped off outside the airport has no walkway but has to walk in the road instead and risk the dangers of traffic. This is not a customer friendly way of getting to the airport. Get rid of those cones and provide a free passenger drop off zone if you want repeat custom at the airport. Remember Southampton Airport is not far away.
