An ok provincial airport, but for the weird £10 surcharge for getting into Departures. If you have a choice, I'd
suggest going somewhere else - even Stansted is better and only about an hour down the road. Won't bother using
Norwich again.

Norwich airport flatly refuses to provide water fountains for travellers and if you ask for free water at the cafe
it is frowned upon. Norwich have an ever increasing services tariff which is a thinly veiled surcharge and yet
provide little in return. The seats are hard, the allowable drop off times are ridiculously low and the seats are
hard. If you possibly can then there are better flying options until they actually realise that a decent level of
service should be provided.

We had to abandon our holiday to Tenerife on 15 Jan 2013 at 17.00 at Norwich 'International' Airport. We had
arrived on the 14 at 15.00 for the Thomson Airways Flight No. 5180. Delays were apparently due to the
ground equipment on the first day and also time taken to de-ice the aircraft on two consecutive days before
snow arrived, even though it was forecast. We sat on the aircraft ready to leave as weather was good on the
15th but had to disembark because of the failure of the airport to do their job. When an experienced pilot
stands in the aisle and says he has never known any airport to take so long to de-ice a plane so that slots
are missed, someone is not doing their job. Adverse weather conditions are not your fault, but how you react
to them definitely is. How long before Thomsons also pull out of our local airport? Fly Norwich 'International'
Airport - as a very last resort.

Norwich Airport is the most half hearted operation imaginable. Commercial passengers are given the
impression that they are a bit of a nuisance, and attempts to keep their numbers to a minimum with the £10
service charge, high car parking charges, minimal choice of destinations and a generally apathetic air have
been remarkably successful. The lack of arrivals or departures does not result in a speedy check in, and the
airport is liable to close if weather conditions are anything less than ideal. I have lived in Norfolk for over 30
years, and would love the convenience of a local airport, but invariably travel via Stansted or Gatwick.

Stopped using Norwich airport some months ago. A shame as it's only a few minutes from my home. I'd
rather travel to Stansted or Heathrow. Poor facilities and airport development fee are the reasons.

In the 1980's and 1990's, I was a strong advocate of using Norwich to fly the world, via Amsterdam. But no
more. To call it Norwich International is now a joke, with only one scheduled international service via
Amsterdam. FlyBe is not the only airline that has voted with its feet and largely taken its routes elsewhere
as a result of Norwich's shameful £10 Airport Development Fee. Far from improving the facilities, the fee
seems largely to have gone to lining the pockets of the owners, Omniport. At one time, the short stay-car
park was reasonably priced, now it is outrageously expensive, with a ridiculously short time of free parking
allowed when dropping off or picking up a passenger. I am greatly saddened by the airport's lack of progress
in attracting and keeping new routes, it could and should have been a huge local success story.

I will not use this airport again - the £10 development fee is the reason. The other facilities were not that
great - eg ringing for service at the cafeteria's.

Just used NWI for a holiday flight to Turkey. Everything went OK and the staff were friendly enough, even
security. The £10.00 is a con but for us its that or 70 miles plus to Stansted, Luton etc plus parking and NWI
know this. Nothing much to do airside, but then your waiting for a flight not shopping and its never busy.

Poor facilities for a mainly empty airport including old facilities and bathrooms even with years of the famous
£10 charge. Full of airport people doing nothing and always a long wait for luggage. Security is a terrible,
always an unfriendly search. It appears they get paid by the number of searches they do and the x-ray
machine is so old it can't penetrate anything.

Norwich Airport can be great somedays and dreadful others. Sometimes the staff are delightful and
sometimes rude and humourless. The airport tax is not as much the problem but the way that the signs read
is appalling - almost rude. Facilities are pretty much non-existent. Staff pay more attention to checking your
airport tax rather than your boarding card. I spent 40 minutes in the security queue as they pedantically and
slowly checked everyone. Stansted staff are much more welcoming. Its as though you are a bit too much
trouble as a passenger and the place would run smoother without you.

I would like to know why passengers are left standing outside on arrival at passport control. We arrived from
Tenerife, and unless you make a run for it when you get off the plane, you will be one of the passengers like us
standing in slush and freezing conditions. I am sure before the so called improvements this was not the case.
Why can't this area be extended by taking some of the baggage reclaim area which is far too big for the one flight
arrival every hour (and that is during busy periods). Be prepared for unnecessary searches when going through
security. As for the airport development charge, I think the airport has regressed whilst this charge has been in
force.

This so called airport in departures offered one telephone, three internet screens plus a very
unimpressive cafe/bar & duty free shop. Firstly the telephone was out of order as well as two
internet screens plus the cafe staff at 0730am were enjoying their breakfast whilst people
waited inside to be served at the till. Surely having taken £5 off most passengers the least
they could do would make sure facilities worked & that customers did not have to sit on filthy
tables.

I understand and appreciate all the complaints about the Airport Development Fee and the very
limited facilities at NIA, but at least you have an airport here. Liverpool airport started
out like Norwich but, with the advent of carriers like Easyjet etc, it has developed, in
recent years, into a better airport hub. My major beef is with FlyBe who can stuff me for
almost £300 for the return journey if I only book a few days before - but they do advise of
the £5 fee on their website. I have found that most of the Norwich airport staff are great
with only a handful being offhand or rude.

Dreadful little airport with minimal facilities. The simple iniquity, as pointed out by
almost all other reviewers, is the extortion of £5 from each passenger to let them pass into
departures. I find it hard to believe this is even legal. After all, we've paid the airport
tax. Why is this outrageous imposition not included in that tax? It would save the salary
cost of the people who sit to collect Norwich's nasty little farewell to those using its
facilities.

Super little airport. Mind you, I wouldn't want to be delayed there for to long, nothing much
to do airside. I was home within 20 minutes after picking up my cases. Thats worth the £5.00
airport fee. Just hope that they can get a LCC in to cover Spain and France.

Took my wife and kids to Norwich airport yesterday for a flight to Bangkok. Parked my car in
the car park for about 20 minutes to ensure they were checked in OK - £1.50p,a total rip-off!
Was going to buy my wife and 2 kids a hot drink before checking in but I refuse to pay over £5
for 3 cups of tea - forget about buying a breakfast unless you want to pay 5 star hotel
prices. The worst part of the whole episode is the iniquitous Airport Development Fee (just
another method of further fleecing the traveller). I paid over £2500 for my family's tickets
but they couldn't proceed through to the Departure Lounge until they stumped up a further £5
each! This charge is so unpopular and unfair ,I have heard normally calm people start swearing
when they have to pay just to get in to the departure area but they have no choice. Originally
they charged £3 which drove many people to use Stansted it was so unpopular but management,
instead of scrapping this charge, increased it to £5! The next time we go on holiday, we
definitely won't be using Norwich Airport, I'd rather travel all the way to Heathrow and I
only live 25 miles away from Norwich.

Probably the worst experience in modern travel can be had at Norwich Airport. I fly on business
regularly through Norwich, and have done for almost 20 years. Check in staff are often rude, and
spend more time chatting and discussing the previous nights clubbing events during checking in
passengers. Compared to all other airports I experience regularly worldwide, it is the only Airport
which applies a supplementary fee (now £5 per person) which is not advertised until you arrive at
the airport. If You do not pay the 'Airport development Fee' you WILL not be allowed to go through
to departures, whether domestic or international. For this fee, you obtain the privilege of a single
choice of Cafeteria (with extortionate costs for food and drinks), a single Bar, a single shop, and
toilet. Parking fees - you get 5 minutes drop off time (which i'm told will be reduced to 3 mins in
Jan 2009) in the short stay airport only, and if you exceed this must pay a £1.50 fee, and any
other time is again extortionate.

As someone who is forced to use this airport twice a month to and from Amsterdam, the attractions
soon pall. True, NIA check staff now bother to open earlier than one hour before departure, (huge
improvement) but not so long ago we poor suckers on the Amsterdam flight would all be queing one
hour before the published departure time - the desk wouldn't open till one hour before ETD after
which someone would deign to leave their coffee break to process the huge queue whereupon we would
immediately be called to the gate. After packing us on, we would frequently take off half an hour
before scheduled time. In the ladies toilets in Departures, there is no PA. The individuals on the
staff at Norwich Airport are amiable enough, but Norwich Airport's management have obviously never
used an airport as a customer in their life, and have no idea how real airports serve real customers

My wife checked in for a Flybe flight to Chambery on 16/02/08. The girl manning the desk appeared to
be more interested in continuing her conversation with a nearby colleague and failed to hand back my
wife's flight document until requested a few minutes later. She was then dismayed, along with other
departing passengers, to have to pay a £3 development fee. There was no indication that her flight
was delayed for over 1 hour. On my wife's return on 23/02/08 there was no indication or announced
information that her incoming Flybe flight would be delayed by a couple of hours and I was compelled
to spend a rather bleak few hours in Norwich airport that was virtually closed - even the coffee
machine did not function properly-- perhaps your development fund could attend to that! Stansted for
us next time.

My local airport. Was surprised that security staff and gate staff had
never seen a KLM online boarding card before - gate staff weren't
certain what to do, as there was no tear-off section! Airport
Development Fee is a bit of a rip-off, as NWI charges are already quite
high in comparison to many other U.K. airports. Catering charges
expensive, as usual in U.K.

We enjoyed its simplicity, the parking we pre-booked online with NCP and
was £75.00 for the fortnight. Check-in was a breeze. Going through
customs we were surprised at having our pictures taken as you don't see
that at the other airports. The departure lounge is small but you can
see all the action through the big windows. Its a pity that Norwich
does not have a longer runway as our plane, Boeing 737, had to really
put his brakes on hard to be able to stop before running out of runway
although it may have been the pilot not getting it down soon enough!
Flying from Norwich does seem to be more expensive but I would certainly
see if a flight is available the next time we book a holiday.

Norwich is a super little airport, and I have used it several times now. In some
ways, its strength (small and user friendly) is its limitation, as destinations are
limited. However, there are some good charter destinations available, parking and
check-in are really easy, and there's enough in the way of food and drink - even
shopping. Sure, you don't get the bewilldering choice you get air-side at some of the
major airports, but so what? On one trip I left the hotel in Lanzarote at 7.30 a.m.
(BST) and was back home by 3 p.m. That's worth its weight in gold, especially at the
end of a holiday.

Having just taken a regular flight from Norwich airport, I just want to say a few words about the
airport. Firstly living in Norwich it’s just a Taxi ride and with check in on most flights even
international are only a 1hour and last check in 25mins, what a saving on time. (Compared to a 2-3
hours drive and 3 hour check in)
It is a lovely small airport but with all the usual facilities (bars, food halls, shopping, car
hire, money exchange). The staff always seems to be very friendly, helpful and flexible, but then
you can where passengers numbers are on smaller size. It also has a fairly high security outlook as
they having taking photo’s at customs for years.
Having KLM flying to Amsterdam 5 times a day we can get flights anywhere to the world, anytime. They
now have also got two new low cost airlines, now starting domestic and international flights.
The only slight downside is the cost of airport Taxes they seem to be one of the most expensive in
the UK.
