Good airport with efficient and state of the art facilities and services. Immigration usually is
fast, transiting around the airport is easy, airline lounges are very good.

Great modern airport. 15 minutes from entering terminal to getting into departure lounge, even at
peak time on a busy start of a Korean holiday week! Lots of new catering places being built which is
badly needed, as present catering is un-inspirational ad have no real nice seating areas. Also the
fact it isn't a truly 24hour aiport, which mean transport is dismal after 10pm, but hopefully when
AREX (train service) to Seoul is completed this should be another story!

27 January 2008 Customer Rating :
A rather pleasant experience although I was perturbed to see that the majority of the eating
establishments in the departure area had closed at 2200 save for a subway sandwich place.
Considering the late departure of some of the flights, this struck me as odd. Otherwise it is a
beautiful airport; clean, efficient and direct. From the air bridge to the immigration control took
around 5 minutes and the bags arrived quickly. Overall, a pleasing and rather relaxed airport.

ICN airport is very nice because it is very clean and airport staff is very kind, and duty free in
airport is very big scale. ICN airport rest room is very clean.

17 January 2008 Customer Rating :
Incheon Airport was so convenient and easy. Whole process from checking in to leaving was swift.
The airport was clean, and I was very impressed with the high tech toilets. Staff were polite and
courteous. I've been to many countries within Asia and Oceania, but the design of the airport in
Korea is next generation. The one thing that wasnt so good, was the choice of duty free shops. I
dont think many people visit airports to buy luxury bags and fragrances, although that was
practically all I could see. I was much disappointed in the duty free area. But the airport is
faultless and advanced.

1 January 2008 Customer Rating :
One of my favorite transit airports in Asia. Very clean and efficient with lots of shopping and
eating options. On my way to Europe had a night stopover in ICN and was through immigration within
10 minutes after getting off the plane. The Hyatt Regency is a great stopover hotel and the shuttle
bus to/from the hotel runs every 30 minutes or so and takes no longer than 5 minutes. As I was
flying business class, had access to the KE Prestige Class Lounge. Very nice facility with good
selection of food/drinks and flawless working wireless internet.

4 December 2007 Customer Rating :
Changed planes at this airport for the first time after having used Kimpo twice during the 1990s.
Incheon was an improvement and certainly comparable to Changi and Chek Lap Kok. Its interior was
cavernous with easy-to-read signs. My sole reservation was the location of one of its transfer
checkpoint, which is too close to a moving sidewalk. This forces people who are transferring to get
in the way of those whose final destination is Seoul, because lines for the former group will wrap
around the sidewalk once it gets too long. But it's a small problem.

4 December 2007 Customer Rating :
Passed through Incheon on a trip to Hanoi from Amsterdam. We were amazed at how we had deplaned and
were in the bus to the hotel in less than 30 minutes! Amazing feat, needless to say. Facilities
are top notch with good lounges and plenty of catering throughout. We were impressed by how we were
greeted with a bow when passing through the security control - very unique! Only drawback to the
airport is the lack of a (high speed) train to Seoul. The travelling time with the busses was
gruesome at times with the Seoul traffic. Other than that a fine airport that easily matches (and
perhaps passes) Changi and HKIA!

12 November 2007 Customer Rating :
Incheon is a spacious well planned airport, designed with an easy flow for passengers. Food and
shopping outlets are extensive, with clean toilets every 200 metres and a transit lounge that is
comfortable and quiet. An airport that is a pleasure to experience.

Incheon Airport I guess is the world's best airport. All updated
facilities, excellent services, very clean, fast, comfortable. It has
got a class! Immigration & Custom was fast as well. I hope Incheon keeps
its name best.

Came through Incheon this morning after flying up from Suvarnabhumi.
Its just like chalk and cheese. Incheon is so smooth and professional,
whereas Suvarnabhumi is still a circus. I have been through Incheon a
number of time in past few years, and, apart from my first experience
back in 2004, where I complained about the delay in going through
customs, all other visits have been pleasant. A small gripe though. I
had to go down to Transfer counter "A", and it was quite slow. The
barriers that they put up need to be extended so that people dont jump
the queue. A bit of that happened this morning. Both Singapore Airlines
and Asiana lounges are very good, with excellent internet connections. I
even get lucky, and have to transit though Incheon in a couple of weeks
on my way back to Suvarnabhumi.

Incheon Airport is a dream. I have used Incheon Airport a lot over the
past few months and have never queued for anything. Check-in (for
whatever airline) is a breeze, security is swift and immigration is very
efficient also. Incheon Airport always looks very clean and very new.
Teams of cleaners work very hard to ensure that the terminal is always
in tip-top condition. I have visited Incheon, Bangkok (the new
Suvarnabhumi Airport) and Hong Kong recently. Incheon is by far the best
of these three airports and my journey through it has always been
completely stress-free!

15 November 2006
I agree with other comments. For me, this is currently the best airport
facility in the world from a passenger point of view. Just a pity it's
so far from downtown - but that will be less problem when fast rail is
finished. Also the Korean Air business class lounge is excellent.
Seoul Incheon Airport by Steve Koenig
15 November 2006
Too many duty free shops? Far fewer than at the new Bangkok airport.
Interestingly, prices can vary widely, at least on liquor. Transit
hotel is very nice, albeit a little pricey ($50 for 6 hours, as I
recall). Boarding areas are nice, with cloth-covered (albeit hard)
seats and wooden floors, and lots of space for passengers to queue up.

I am a regular traveler through ICN and must say that it is one of the
great Airport facilities of the world. The Koreans have obviously
spared no expense to create this monument. Two small things though that
I find irritating, first, there are WAY too many duty free shops in the
airside portion of the terminal and no useful stores where one can
purchase small sundries such as toothpaste, shaving cream, bottled
water, etc. It would be perfect if I could brush my teeth with perfume
or whiskey. Second, as reported previously the restrooms are absolutely
spotless - there just aren't enough of them airside. Some days I have
to visit three or four just to find an empty spot. In all other
respects ICN is almost perfect.

24 September 2006
ICN is certainly the best airport I have ever been in. I haven't read
all the comments, but I don't see any mention of the bathroom in the
airport, so I will. The bathroom in Incheon Airport was the cleanest I
have ever seen and it reflects the cleanness of the entire building.
Overall, very impressive!

12 August 2006
Passed through in transit and have to agree with the favourable comments
about ICN. Terminal building is immaculately clean and spacious. If I
have to gripe about something it's the choice of shops, and they
wouldn't accept large denomination Japanese Yen ( I wasn't about to buy
Korean money just to buy a book). Good selection of food outlets though.

I been in this airport 4 times in the last four years and a have to tell
that I'm very sure that this it has to be the # 1 in the world, not only
for the clean facilities but because the magic of this incredible
country and the polite people.

13 May 2006
ICN is by far my favorite airport. Its clean, its quiet, the food is great, customs is an easy
process, the workers are professional, smoker rooms are available yet nicely sealed, duty free is
large and reasonable - what more could you want? If only it were closer to Seoul itself. Be
careful when using a cab from Seoul - they will expect you to pay the tolls in addition to the cab
fare and tip. Bring plenty of won, because that trip from Itaewon is very pricy. Since it is so
far and you could deal with traffic, I suggest staying at the Best Western adjacent to the hotels.
Great bar at the hotel across the street, without the very expensive price of staying at it. There
is a free shuttle to and from the airport.

This has to be the best airport in the region, if not the world. Yes,
better than Singpore and Hong Kong (both due to excessive walking
distances). On average, it takes 15 minutes to get off the plane and
onto the Limousine Bus to the city. I only travel with 2 carry-ons and
clear immigration with my APEC travel card though.

8 January 2006
Amazing place - came in Asiana from MNL earlier this week. No waiting at
Immigration - downstairs and the bags were already on the carousel, and
I was waiting for the bus a few minutes later. From getting off the
aircraft to getting to the bus stop - 12 minutes - and most of that was
the walk - incredible. I have to agree with the earlier comments about
the delays in outbound immigration at certain times of the day. You'd
have thought getting out would be easier than getting in, but
Immigration is the slowest part of this excellent airport. Did a quick
check on Duty-Free Prices in ICN versus MNL, BKK, HKG and SIN - Seoul is
generally more expensive than the others.

A very efficient building and friendly staff. However, be warned that
it's a long way from the city. The bus is good value (13,000 won one-
way) leaving every 20 minutes, but it took well over 2 hrs to get to the
Sheraton - we hit the evening traffic. The trip back on Sunday afternoon
took 90 minutes. I made a good queue selection at immigration - the
right hand one, adjacent to those for Korean citizens. There were very
few Koreans, so the person monitoring the queues invited people on my
queue (one at a time) over to the officers who had little to do. So that
went very quickly. Checking in, and passport checking out of the country
was very smooth.

This is a very impressive airport. A wide variety of shops are available. The
security and immigration was pretty jammed. The airport is extremely far from the city, the
express rail link would be nice (I believe that it is under-construction).

16 May 2005
The best airport in the world my opinion. Shops restaurants and waiting
lounges blend so well unlike other airports where the waiting area is on
a corner end of the terminal somewhere. I have heard about Singapore and
Hong Kong being better but they are bit tacky or cheesy - while Seoul
Incheon is elegant - that is exactly why you don't find those little
touristy gift shops there that one person commented in the forum below.

15 May 2005
Further to my previous comments and having a few more months of frequent
travel and and out of Seoul under my belt, the problems departing seem
to mainly occur in the morning. Security and immigration combined have
left me pretty consistantly queuing for up to one hour for a 10am
departure (the botlenecks seem to be very slow processing at security:
they wait for each passenger to go through the x-ray and be pat down
before letting the next passenger even approach the hand-carry x-ray
belt) and a pretty thorough examination of documentation at immigration
( they hunt through your passport looking for the entry stamp before
stamping an exit one next to it, so presnting the correct one yourself
helps when there are a ot of stamps) so I would thoroughly recommend any
travellers to avoid the mornings. However, recently I have been heading
back to Beijing on a flight that leaves just after 8pm and have found
the queues to be much more manageable (through security and immigration
in 15 minutes or so). However, rather curiously, that flight seems to
be consistantly late in taking off owing to a back up of aircraft. Go
figure! On arrival, I have found the usual rules apply: on flights from
China, progress very quickly to immigration and pray that there has not
been an arrival from any country that needs visas just before your
flight. One little trick worth knowing, however, is that there are a
number of immigration areas so if the one you come to first is crowded,
keep walking and the next one may well be much quieter.

Had a one hour stop-over on our flight from SFO to Singapore. The new, huge modern terminal building
is very impressive to look at. It was a long taxi from the end of the runway to the Singapore
Airlines gate. We had to go through security check again before being let inside the commodious
terminal, which we found to be clean, well organized, and their restrooms are well maintained. I
found the stores lacking in variety. And if you are the type of traveller who likes to buy
souvenirs, you will be disappointed.

Interesting comments by Jonathan Perratt . I started flying through Incheon back in Sept., 2004, and
was really annoyed at the long queues at Immigration.
Last week, I flew up from BKK, and got in about 7:30PM on Saturday night.
Beautiful. Got off the
plane fast, and , instead of using the moving walkway, walked fast to immigration instead. Second
or third in line, and was through in 5 minutes.
wait a while for the luggage, even though mine was Priororitory, and after changing money,
was lucky enough to get the bus outside to Novotel at Doksan. If I had have taken my time, I would
have had a 30 minute wait in the cold for the next bus. Looks like I will use this schedule in
future, rather than get in at 4:00PM on Sunday.
On the departure side, security lines can be a bit long, so I always get there early.
Singapore Airline lounge is nice as well, so, I am in favor of Incheon after my negative comments
some months ago.
As regards to duty free, toiletry prices are much better than Australia, which is completely
overpriced.

I have been flying in and out of Incheon almost weekly for a number of months and reckon it to be
potentially one of, if not the, best airports in Asia were it not for the queues at certain times of
day. As a frequent traveller, queuing for up to 1 hour to clear security and immigration on
departure is simply unacceptable and far too stressful so my heart sinks as I pull up outside the
terminal knowing what awaits inside. That said, once cleared through, the concourse is spacious,
light, clean, uncrowded with a good range of shops and the airline lounges are very good too.

Incheon airport is definitely one of the cleanest airports I've been to. Lots of internet terminals
also on the way to the gates (towards gate 40) and reasonably priced. Unfortunately the huge queues
into and out of immigration and security let the experience down. One caution -
do not buy duty free
items unless you've checked prices elsewhere for the items you want. I bought an eye cream for USD87
and walked on to my Cathay Pacific flight and the same item was USD62. Asked a flight attendent
friend about it and they confirmed that air-crew don't buy from there as it's known to be expensive.

Incheon International Airport is big, spacious and just beautiful. Could be among the five best
airports in the world but I have one comment. The times it takes to go through security and passport
control is just too long and too stressfull. With such a big airport, why isn't there more space
devoted to security and passport control? If Incheon could solve that problem, they could very well
be voted the number one airport in Asia and maybe in the world.

Great Airport. Very efficient, external architecture is more beautiful
than Hong Kong's CLK. Only issue I would have with this Airport is the
lack of Rail transport downtown. Although the Bus takes a good 60-90
minutes, the interior is great!

Incheon Airport realy is one of the best airports in the world - as long you want to come into Seoul
or just have an international transfer. But in case you are heading forward (or coming from) to another domestic destination it is just
terrible. Nearly all domestic flights (except some flights to Busan and to Jeju) go out from Seoul Gimpo
airport and not from Incheon! So you have to pick up all your lugage, hop on a shuttle bus to Gimpo airport (approx. 45 min.) and
check in there completely again. (you cannot check in your lugage to the final destination in Korea!
- there is no g transfer, even you fly the international and the domestic route with one of the
Korean carriers, Asiana or Korean Air). What could be a transfer time of 1-2 hours at other airports makes you lose half a day.

Looks like I must have landed at the wrong airport last Sunday. Flew up from Thailand , and waited
one hour to go through immigration.
Long lines for the Non Korean people, and once the Korean passport lines had cleared, they did very
little to get non Koreans into the locals line.
High ceilings - not in immigration. Very hot, but, I must admit, once I had cleared
immigration, I walked down stairs and my bag was already there waiting. Of course,
that's because of
the delays in processing.
Nice to go through customs without a luggage x-ray as they used to do in the past, although it has
been seven years since my last trip. I will reserve my opinions until I do a few more trips through Incheon.

I transitted through ICN twice recently while on a journey between Japan and Vietnam. There is no
doubt at all that it is up there with the world's best airports, in my opinion only Changi is
better. One major gripe however. My flight from Hanoi arrived at 5 am or thereabouts and my
connecting flight didn't leave until 10am. I was looking forward to settling down in the
transit/departure lounge but at the entrance to it I discovered a third-world-style queue of several
hundred disgruntled travellers realising that they were stuck in this non-descript corridor until
the departure area opened at 6.30am. There were a lot of flights arriving before this time so this
made no sense. Once the door finally opened I was not let in because I didn't have a boarding card
for my onward flight (I had suspected there might be a problem but could not figure out where I
could get one, there was a transit desk by the entrance but it was deserted). I was told that I had
to walk to the 'other' transit desk, a good 15 minute hike away. When I got there, I had to queue 30
minutes to get it then another 30 minutes to get through security. There were so many people trying
to get into the departures area by this time that the atmosphere really was chaotic. I'm pleased I
didn't have a tight connection, I wouldn't have made it. Incheon- you're doing a great job generally
but sort out the early morning transfer arrangements!

Superb, superior, and spectacular. Huge aisle and high ceiling. That's why you feel relaxed and
comfortable. Duty frees are everywhere. The layout itself is fascinating. You'll never get lost

The South Koreans deserve hearty praise for this world-class facility. Incheon is filled with every
possible service, shop and restaurant a traveler could need, and passengers arrive and depart
through one of the nicest buildings in Asia. I especially like the soothing waterfalls in the
immigration/baggage claim area. It's a pleasure to connect at this airport, even if (like me) you
often spend 12 or more hours there transiting between Southeast Asia and North America.

Flew into ICN for 2 transfers to and from Singapore. Incheon is big and spacious. Gives you a sense
of space. Quite the opposite of some cramped and stuffy airport. Staff are willing to help and
friendly. Free internet service at transfer lounge could be improved. Many terminals were out of
order. Shops were quite boring after a 14 hour transit. They offer almost the same things. Things in
the airport are over-priced. More expensive than Changi (SIN) i'd say. Overall, rather satisfied
with the F&B at the airport. Large variety for all budget sizes. Good job ICN.

One tip for Incheon Airport that I didn't see anyone else mention: The best priced souvenir shops
and restaurants are in the basement of the terminal. For some reason, hardly anyone goes down there
except for airport employees. The basement is also a good place to wait in one of the numerous
seating areas because it's more quiet and less bustling than the main departure lobby.
Another tip: If you give a huge smile to any of the airport employees that you're dealing with,
you'll notice a difference in how much more helpful and friendly they are. I know that a smile
helps in almost any situation anywhere around the world but it seems to have an even greater effect
in Korea.

Seoul ICN airport is the nicest airport I have been. There are many good
things about this airport. For example, this airport is really clean and
neat. But the most important thing is that the ceiling is several feet
high and made out of glass, which allows the sunlight comes in. Of
course, it is not perfect transparent glass. I didn't have to squint at
all. I have been to many major airports in the World include and many
other small airports in the US. But the waiting room was always stuffy
and boring since low ceiling made them look small. But this airport
looked bigger than it is, which made me feel relax. The food was not
super. But I don't expect too much from the airport food anyway. The
best food was at the outside of the gate area, before I went through
security. Chosun hotel restaurant had a fantastic panoramic view with
nice food (except for the price). I'm sorry that people with connecting
flights will not have chance to enjoy this. Parking lot was sufficient
and easy to pay fee through the machine. The worst thing about this
airport is a public transportation system. Although more than 55% of
people who use ICN have connecting flight, there was not many ways to
get to Seoul city. Limousine bus which costs apporox. 10 US dollars,
Taxi that costs 30 US, and that was it. Or i had to pay even more to
rent-a-car. There was a huge building in the middle of parking lot which
is eventually to be an express train station to downtown Seoul. But it
starts in 2008. We might have to wait for a while. There was only one
highway that connects to the outside of the world. If there is a car
accident in the middle, no one will be able to get to the airport on
time. What a disaster.

The new airport at Seoul is fabulous. The building itself is very impressive and futuristic.
Everything is very well signposted and the terminal has been planned very well. Huge windows and
wide open spaces make the place feel airy and relaxed. I found the staff to be extremely pleasant
and helpful. All in all, a truly superb facility.

After a 10 hour flight, I really didn't notice much about the terminal, although it did seem very
clean and modern. My only complaint is that I would have expected the customs officer processing
non-Koreans coming off a flight from North America would speak much better English. The Korean Air
flight attendants spoke it reasonably well, but the customs officer didn't seem to speak more than a
few stock phrases.

Flew in and out of ICN four times in the last two years. Terrific! Great design, visually
attractive, a superb first and last impression for the visitor to Korea. Also, great passenger
handling and expediting, world-class ground transportation options: was in an express bus to my
hotel no more than 20 minutes after landing on both inbound experiences. KAL's first and business
class lounges set the standard for all airports anywhere - seen nothing anywhere close in the U.S. or
Europe.
