Zurich Airport

I always try fly Swiss from Italy connecting in Zurich because of several reasons: Airport is clean not too big not too small all services available. Smoking area nice. Helpful staff (a bit cold in habit but helpful). Nice Swiss/star alliance lounges and very fast connections.

Very efficient close to zero-waiting time airport (immigration baggage). The free Internet concept does not exist at this airport and is the only disadvantage.

Very well sign-posted you can't get lost. Spacious clean and well ventilated. Plenty of place to seat and relax all the facilities you might expect at a class airport are there. Well ventilated large and clean smoking zones close at hand in all terminals they are many not just one as in many airports. Simply perfect.

Having been flying through ZRH for 10 years. The new security is excellent. I never queue. Walking distances are more than ok. (Try Shengen to Non-Shengen in VIE). For me this is a most convenient airport given its size and connections offered. I really would like to see some of this convenience at other airports.

Compared to any other airport Zurich is efficient and despite all the UK Pax comments it is very easy to transfer between terminals. You can hardly find an airport the same size in Europe where you can spend time in a state-of-the-art environment and find boutiques like Hermes Gucci Swiss Watches etc so close to each other. After the introduction of the central security check-point and the central location of the airside centre walking to A or B/D terminal is a breeze and never takes more than 5 min. Transferring to E is easy as well. Take the escalator and board the tube train. Within 4 mins you will reach terminal E and from there of course you need to walk 5-10 min since Zurich is no provincial airport. Staff at security check are always friendly and helpfu. Comments about non priority lanes are just false. There are clearly marked business (blue) first (red) and economy (green) lanes.

ZRH is really an airport in its own class. Complete separation of check-in and arrival building from the airport shopping centre and central train station provides a fresh view of how an airport should be designed. Passport clearance was fast signages were clear and they even had kids playing room as part of family services. Typical Swiss efficiency and high quality offerings so there wasn't a reason to complain about price. Forget other airports this is the only true competition to Changi Airport.

Came through Zurich as a transit airport travelling from Larnaca to Heathrow. Not impressed at all. We had nearly 45mins but took a long time to make our way between terminals. We had already gone through security at Larnaca and were not expecting to have to go through again. There was a very long queue only one site was open and the lady was very slow meaning that we very nearly missed our flight. So much for Swiss efficiency! Also if we had purchased duty free at Larnaca it appears that we would not have been able to take it with us onto the flight you are not told this anywhere on any of the literature or on their website.
