Flights with similar flight departure times given gates next to each other so absolute chaos for seating etc. So slow getting passengers boarded so inevitably leading to late departure times

Not Verified | Delayed 4 hours, not a fault of the airport but had to get water. Our six euro voucher from Tui barely covered a bottle of water as the café only put out Evian to purchase. Reading the list of drinks which should be available, there should have been bottled water at just over one euro but they hid that behind the counter out of sight and had none out on display. I asked for the cheaper water and the staff behind the counter seemed really put out that I asked and took forever to get it and I could see the staff talking about me as they were looking at me/the water and looked really fed up I asked for it and just raised their eyebrows - they still didn't put any out on display despite having plenty as my husband also had to ask for one later in the day - obviously they do not want us to buy their cheaper products and there was simply no other option to get water anywhere else.

✅ Trip Verified | Was booked in as requiring Disabled Assistance with processing through departures. Due to the Covid problems & paperwork required to depart the airport after our holiday. The company I booked and payed for (the Covid day 2 test), failed to give me a code for the Passenger Location form). I spent 3days of our holiday just trying to get this code. (Without this form we could not fly home). Finally just before pickup time I finally got this code and partially film 1 of two of the forms. I thought that's great & can finish the two at the airport. How wrong I was & got to the stage they were calling us on the speakers. I cannot thank the two young Special assistance girls at the desk. We managed to board the plane 10 mins before take off time. Had they not been so understanding and helpful we would not have flown home. Zante Airport, you have 2 brilliant workers on the Disabled Special Assistance.

Not Verified | Had assistance at airport on the whole this was ok. Was taken through cheack in then to duty free and on to gate through the last passport cheack to the gate area. Normally you are told to be back at the gate if you go shopping 40 mins before flight but when we went to go and get our duty free we were told we were not allowed back into airport so me and my party could not get anything. I told the assistant I wanted duty free but she took no notice and did not explain the situation to us.

"amazed at the transformation"

✅ Trip Verified | Wow. We were amazed at the transformation of this airport in the space of 1 year since being taken over by a German company. Previous check in desks removed and brand new ones on a different wall, far more. Check in was seamless and plenty check in desks. A new security area which was quick and smooth, apart from the aggressive female member of staff shouting at passengers and rolling her eyes, brand new duty free area. Such an improvement. Heraklion airport in Crete could take some tips. We were stesssed thinking about our return journey but the airport has vastly improved. Arrival area is also spacious and easy. All toilets in the airport have been renewed.

"Never more Zakynthos Airport"

This was the last time we put our foot on this airport. Of 20 toilets, there was one with door (but there was no paper, and did not lock + that there was feces on the wall) The airport is not made to handle the number of passengers is today. Does the fact that tour operators must make more demands, otherwise it is they who are losing customers in the end. Never more Zakynthos Airport.

I have never experienced anything like this before. Zakynthos airport is a dump. Far too many passengers for its capacity. Toilets dirty, no locks on doors, no hand dryers, not enough seats. You have to check in even though we already had done on line and had printed boarding passes in our hands. After a 40 minute wait for that we had our baggage labels put on and had to take our cases and join another queue to put them through a scanner. This had a bored girl "watching" the screen. Security quite quick but then a very small waiting area for all the flights with not enough seats and more dirty toilets. Duty free prices a joke, as were prices for food and drink. We couldn't wait to get on the plane and out of there.

"whole place needs a make over"

Zakynthos is a grotty airport. The toilets are horrendouse with many not working and dirty. The whole place needs a make over, I don't think I've visited a worse airport. Duty free is a laugh, the perfume I wanted on the plane was £29 and they wanted €57 in the "tax free" shop - rip off.

Arriving from Gatwick at 10am was a bit of a nightmare lots of queues 3 flights arriving about 10 minutes apart. The baggage reclaim decided to stop working for a good 20 minutes and when it started again he conveyor belt was not going round but the luggage was still coming up cue everyone doing the airport's work to get the luggage round the conveyor belt. People were standing on top of the luggage belt to make sure the luggage could manually go round because otherwise the suitcases just jammed up. We asked several people for some help that worked at the airport only to get ignored. Our return to Gatwick was definitely easier though. We were checked in through security in no more than 30 minutes. Which left us plenty of time to relax in the spacious seating area. It's very open lots of windows and shops (slightly overpriced but what do you expect?) We boarded and flew home quickly!

Things have improved vastly since the new terminal opened and the new baggage claim is very good far faster than Edinburgh or Glasgow. Return journeys can be a bit of a pain but the new departure lounge is reasonably good. Airport staff we've found to be generally polite and helpful. Our tips for a happier return trip: Buy any food or drink in your resort. Don't be in a rush to go through security to the departure lounge - it's much nicer outside or in the check-in hall. If you smoke there is a smoking room in the departure lounge. Think about investing in a portable balance for weighing your baggage as if you are overweight it could cost you.
