Venice Treviso Airport customer review

Small ex-military airfield with hopelessly inadequate facilities for purchasing bus tickets on arrival. Poor frequency of taxis which cost 90Euro into Venice anyway. Seems that Treviso is regularly impacted by fog too and Ryanair do not land there with even mild fog conditions. They then offer no help or guidance on what to do when you are stranded. Be very wary of using this airport or more especially using Ryanair at all.

Venice Treviso Airport customer review

The airport is modern with a large check-in area. The bus transfer to Venice is straightforward. Buy tickets at ground floor level to the right of arrivals. The restaurant is busy hot and noisy but good value with freshly cooked pizza and pasta available. Security was somewhat slow (20 mins.) and ignored an obvious queue jumper who appeared from nowhere dived under the queue barrier then presented himself ahead of others who had been waiting. This really should have been noticed as a security concern not just the queue jumping. The security screening seemed over-sensitive which slowed things down. There are few facilities once through security so it’s a bit of a gamble to leave it as late as possible. Leave going down to the gate until the flight is in. The gate area is inadequate particularly given that passengers were allowed through when a delay was expected. It would be impossible to imagine more than one of the four adjoining gates being used at a time as the waiting area was full with one. The seating is totally inadequate. Several elderly people on the flight were struggling with the lack of seating. There are no toilets in this area so going back upstairs is the only option. This is not a place where you would want to be if there is a delay.

The architect of this (new) airport spent a lot of attention to the roomy check in area and the area after security consisting of a vast lounge with a duty free shop and a small refreshment corner. The boarding areas however are downstairs extremely small and cramped and totally inadequate for the number of passengers passing through. Totally incomprehensible why the building was designed in this way.

New terminal in Treviso is lovely impossible to compare with the old one. Check in area is airy bright check in desks modern. Only problem is there are no enough seats. One small restaurant and tiny shop very adequate. Security quick and for Italian standards well organised. Airside again one small bar with limited food and couple of shops. Enough seats toilets modern and clean. Gate are is however very small and only couple seats. No airbridges but considering it is FR airport didnt expect to have them. Very nice low cost airport. Pleasure using it.

The new terminal will be open before the end of February. It's still small but much more confortable than now!

A nice mid size airport check in fast and friendly security slow but friendly and that helps. Main terminal with a good panorama of the runway and Venice in the distance good selection of food outlet and shop expensive. Alitalia business class lounge nice but small complimentary newspaper still you have to paid for the internet but at least the small self service bar is well stock. At the gate the embarkation was smooth the only drawback very few jetways so the majority of people are force to use the bus. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Flew in and out of Treviso October 2005 and again in November 2006 but nothing seems to have changed over that year as far as expansion plans are concerned. The only difference was that our flights last year coincided with several others whereas this time ours was the only arrival/departure for a couple of hours. The consequence was that Treviso this year was much more congenial than last year - no congestion no queues for anything plenty of seating. We don't normally buy food and drink at airports but on our return journey we were obliged to do so and were pleasantly surprised at both the cost and the quality: we had poorer and dearer food while we were in Venice. The ground crew also seem to do their best to apply Ryanair's stated boarding procedures which is more than seems to happen at Liverpool. It looks as if Treviso is fine when it's handling only one flight at a time but it's no fun when several flights coincide. Boarding the Ryanair flightsbus service from Venice to the airport was something of a rugby scrum though.

Treviso airport (new terminal still under construction) has no facilities and with just one shop and one small take away bar it is very basic. If Ryanair and Transavia flights depart at the same time you are jampacked in a kind of shed. If there aren’t any delays or cancellations and no coinciding flights it's bearable but otherwise? To go to Venice is relatively easy there are direct buses and the railway station of Treviso is only 10 min by bus (nr 6 in front of the entrance). Take care however that the ride in the reverse direction takes much longer (30 min) as the bus makes a circular tour. I went to Triest and that’s 2.5 hrs by train (Amsterdam has no direct connections to Triest though I heard later that travelling via Munich is convenient). Security scanners apparently were tuned up. I even had to take my shoes off which has never occurred me elsewhere.

As of 19th Jan 2006 the new terminal is not finished and doesn't look as if it will be open for some time. So you are still packed into the tiny shabby poorly equipped old terminal. Not so bad if your flight is ok but chaos if any cancellations - Ryanair cancelled 4 incl. ours when we were there and we had to find our own way back to Liverpool. Same thing also happened on 20th. They don't land there in fog and it's reasonably common in winter.

The new terminal that is almost ready seams finally to be a very nice one. I was yesterday at Treviso airport and i've seen how the layout of the new terminal is almost the same of the other Venice airport Marco Polo.
