"treated like cattle by every staff"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | This is by far the most filthy dirty, rude and inhumane airport I've ever had the misfortune of experiencing. Don't be tempted by the cheap flights, you're treated like cattle by every staff member here, who only seems to know how to yell at people and make children cry. At least 1000 people are crammed into a space with max 100 seats. Every single surface is visibly dirty. Zero hygiene or infection control practices in place (no sanitiser anywhere, not even hand soap or dryers in the bathrooms). The cooling fans were broken, as were the elevators and ATMs.

Trapani-birgi Airport customer review

(United Kingdom)

Trapani is still a partly military airport with fencing all around the civilian area and perhaps this is why it seems so crowded - and perhaps because Ryanair have hugely increased their flights recently. The result is that the landside arrivals was crowded but not too bad but the car park was full and the car hire area overflowing with double treble and quadruple parked cars. Finding the right person and right car and attempting to get out of the airport was not easy - and all this despite the airport saying that the number of parking and car hire spaces have been increased recently. On the way back the departure lounge (with nice views) which would be pretty much filled up with three planes full was further strained by the fact that there were about 6 or more extra aircraft at the airport due to Palermo being temporarily closed (a Windjet aircraft had landed 400 metres short of the runway). Overall Trapani is fine but it seems to be reaching saturation despite recent extensions both inside and out. Whilst it was a minor irritation for us I imagine a few extra passengers could cause problems of the sort to make you tear your hair out. Just hope that you don't arrive immediately after a couple of other aircraft or you could be in for a long wait for your baggage car hire etc - and just getting out of the car park.

Trapani-birgi Airport customer review

(United Kingdom)

Birgi Airport has recently had a makeover so new there were no arrival or departure boards. In many respects it reminded me of Pisa Aeroporto before it got too big. On arrival I was nearly the victim of a potential scam. Unlicensed taxi drivers gather around the door to the arrivals hall. They spot your name on a card being held by a genuine tour company. As you come into the arrivals hall they call out your name and when you acknowledge them they claim to be your pre booked taxi. Fortunately I noticed my name on a card being held by representatives from the genuine company I had booked with. For departing flights eat before you set out for the airport. At check-in there is just one very small snack bar and shop (Panini and water just over EUR 4.00) and not a great deal of seating. Everything was clean and new but facilities are extremely minimal with only vending machines for refreshments after security. Waiting in the gate area the seating is insufficient to cope with the number of passengers. I thought it was also very warm but probably not so for your average Sicilian! Access to aircraft is by descending several flights of stairs and then crossing the tarmac on foot
