"find our airport a bit embarrassing"
Wendie Gibbons (Canada)
As a Canadian living in Toronto, and having travelled all over the world, I find our airport a bit embarrassing. Staff are brusque, almost to the point of being rude. Line ups are very long. There are no luggage carts once you get through security so elderly people and families have to carry all their belongings. As well, passengers walk a long way only to find one food option (IF it is even open), and yes, prices are ridiculous. Considering Toronto has fantastic water, at the very least, there should be a spot to fill your water bottle properly rather than a fountain where you can only fill it halfway b/c it won't fit. There is a lack of amenities. Seats are uncomfortable but the place is fairly clean. WIFI is free and seems to work well. We claim to be world class but it is as if Toronto has no idea how the rest of the world operates.

"no one seemed to care"
John Van Brugge (Canada)
Arrived last week on COPA from Panama. Took 15 minutes after the plane was at the gate before staff were able to open the doors as the jetway was not placed against the plane. Then it was over an hour of waiting at the baggage carousel before the luggage finally started coming. Very poor service and no one seemed to care. This is not an isolated incident - baggage handling in Toronto is poor and slow compared to many other airports.

"never again"
H Ferguson (Canada)
I usually try to avoid Toronto Pearson airport when connecting to the states and back - but it had been a couple of years, so in an effort to save money, I bought the tickets that would connect me through here. Never again. Going and coming, there is no "system" to connect passengers who have already gone through security at their departure airport. You have to come out of the terminal to ticketing and go through security again and then immigration. This process takes over an hour - so every time I have connected through Toronto Pearson, I am running to my gate. The signage before security is bad - the escalator to go up to check-in from our connecting flight was broken and blocked off so 50 people - in turns were waiting to get on 2 elevators. It was horrible. I will stand firm now - I will pay more for my ticket to not connect through Toronto Pearson. The only saving grace was a sweet West Jet employee who escorted me through the line at security as she knew I would have a difficult time making my flight. The only reason I made my flight - it was delayed.

"complete chaos"
Anne King (United Kingdom)
I arrived early last Thursday, July 7 for my 8.40 pm flight to Heathrow. Complete chaos at Terminal 1, over 200 people in line, spent 2 hours trailing through, standing all the time. Then another 30 mins for security. Not much fun when you are in your mid seventies.

"massive queues everywhere"
R Blyth (France)
Nice new(ish) building but that's the only positive experience I had at terminal 3 - no food, no (poor) shops, no signs and massive queues everywhere (check-in, security and embarking). The shopping is very poor, with almost no choice and what choice there is is extortionate (e.g. A pair of sunglasses I have seen for €133 and I saw in the airport for 200CAD) and I couldn't find a newspaper. Very few food options are available. Once we needed to embark, it was just a free for all, with everyone waiting in a line but having to make way for the seats being called - shambles. There are more things to say which on their own may seem petty but they just add up to an unpleasant airport experience.

"won't be traveling back through"
Jay Smith (United States)
The security process at Toronto Pearson went well, however that is the only positive. Concourse F looks like a dump both inside and out. It is crowded, smelly, and too hot - have they heard of air conditioning? I won't be traveling back through here again if I can help it.

"lines are painfully long"
M Bateman (United States)
Toronto Pearson Airport is the single worst experience I have had at an airport. There are no signs, no directory or any other help that would help passengers get through the terminals. The only way anyone would know how to get anywhere is if they were familiar with the airport already. You simply have to wander around and try to find someone to ask because there are simply no signs. The lines are painfully long. The place is shabby and ill maintained. But worst of all, the people in customs were purposely intimidating and aggressive. I was made to feel like a moron and was yelled at by one guy in customs for no reason. I have never had such a horrible time and will avoid this airport.

"lines for security are painfully long"
G Barker (Canada)
A very unpleasant time at Toronto Pearson. The new Terminal 3 is shiny and clean, and nice-looking but the lines for security are painfully long. You have to leave your luggage carts behind at security and there are none on the other side, where you may have to walk really long distances to your gate. In some of the far-flung gate areas there is piped-in music that you really cannot escape - it is in the bathrooms, shops, everywhere. Honestly after a long day of travel I find this to be horrible.

"knocks the shine off your holiday"
Ronnie Molyneux (United Kingdom)
No signs for passport control, nothing much to eat before security and a massive queue at passport control, even the passengers with priority passes were queuing. Food once though was extortionate, £7.50 for a sandwich. We departed on 16th June, rather knocks the shine off your holiday. Found the experience unacceptable and unprofessional.

"it's all very enjoyable"
Sam Okyere (United Kingdom)
Airports have always been places where you shop to pass away the time but not in Toronto. Free wifi, iPads available for customers to use. Comfy seats. Yes, the ipads are designed to make you purchase duty free etc, but it's all very enjoyable. The same problem exists with overpriced food, but all airports do that.
