"a dreadful place to be"

(United Kingdom)

Terminal 1 is a dreadful place to be when you have to wait for your flight. There is a huge sculpture of a tunnel that could be put to better use of providing more seating for the large numbers of passengers that use the terminal, especially at busy times. The departure gates are in the concourse for the shopping area, so when a flight is called no one can get pass due to all the passengers waiting to board. Lack of seating means that many people are just hanging around in a convenient spot. This terminal is a very poor cousin to those provided at Vancouver and Calgary Airports. I would never travel from Terminal 1 again if it can be avoided.

"luggage handling disappointing"

(Canada)

Don't expect your priority luggage to be offloaded first at Toronto Pearson. I travel through YYZ often and their luggage handling practises are disappointing. Not only are they failing to offload bags as expected, they also do not inform passengers to which carousel their luggage will be routed.

"wheelchair service disorganized"

(Canada)

Departure in terminal 3 went well. Long lineups in security was avoided, since I had booked wheelchair service. Wheelchair service was someway disorganized. Plenty of seats in boarding area. Return to terminal 3 was fine except custom/ passport control. Long lineups, hall was full with about estimated 500 travelers and estimated waiting time of at least one hour. My wait at special wheel chair counter was about 10 minutes. Again wheelchair service was disorganized and left me at the wrong luggage carousel. Anyway the irony is that there is a big signage sign on the wall high above the counters " welcome to Canada", should be replaced by " this is Canada ". Authorities should be aware that these waiting times cost money and the reputation of Toronto.

"badly designed airport"

(Canada)

Verified Review | Toronto Pearson Airport must be the most badly designed airport for passengers with disabilities. Terminal 1 departures drop off point "Priority" is a long walk from the point where passengers requiring wheelchairs can get a wheel chair. They have to "walk" a distance of at least 500 meters to get to where the wheel chairs are "provided." And once there, they need show their e ticket and wait and wait until a wheelchair pusher arrives. It would surely be possible to arrange a better system but the airport authorities don't seem to care.

"it took us two hours to get through"

(United Kingdom)

Toronto Pearson T3 Appalling. We deplaned the 747 and 350 passengers were then corralled in a corridor for 40 minutes because the immigration hall was full with queues to the bottom of the elevators. We were told the hold up was due to the amount of aircraft which had all arrive at a similar time. However, all these planes were scheduled so they must have known the amount of passengers that were due. When we got into the hall and joined by the back of the queue it took us two hours to get through as there were only 4 agents working on the queue and it appeared 3 others in the booths were not checking passengers. A check online revealed many reviews which showed this delay was not unusual. It is unforgivable that the authorities are prepared to put paying visitors through this kind of ordeal without putting maximum resources into mitigating the situation. This was our first visit to Canada and we will not be coming back voluntarily.

"slow and grossly inefficient"

(United States)

Verified Review | Now that I am making this review, I see seveal like mine. Avoid Toronto Pearson. Making connections at YYZ on our way to Europe from USA, and returning. On our way to Europe, we came across a queue to go to international connections that was so long that there were staff with radios pulling people from line and moving them ahead to allow them to make their connections. There were several booths available, but it started with only two of them staffed, later a third. But so slow and grossly inefficient; and seemingly routine as they had a protocol to expedite travelers who might miss connections. Then, upon return flight, a 767 fully loaded, we came off the jetway to find the escalator was out of service; so carry on luggage dragged up the steps, or wait in another line for the one elevator. Same thing going to our commuter plane to states, no escalator, long steps, even a sign in the lounge warning of possible long delays as there as only one elevator.

"Steer clear of this airport"

(United States)

Will never return again! I was thinking that my elderly mother and I would have no problems with time for our next flight. Was I ever wrong. How the elderly are treated at security and US immigration process is appalling. There are hardly any signs to directs you and I certainly didn't see any airport staff that was helpful. Steer clear of this airport if at all possible.

"amenities are very good"

(Canada)

Toronto Pearson is a great way to get to and from Toronto, it's amenities in both Domestic and International Pier's are very good. The terminal is architecturally very open, so you never feel cramped. In my experiences, there was no more than a 5 minute wait for security and no more than a 15 minute wait for customs, which is reasonable, plus when you are arriving from an international flight you can connect to another international flight directly after clearing Customs B. Very Clean Airport.

"it can get crowded"

(Canada)

Toronto Pearson is the biggest airport in Canada. Record number of passengers travelling every season. Soon Pearson will reach its limit. Sometimes it can get crowded from check-in, security, dutyfree and gates. Arrivals is a joke sometimes. Passengers were not allowed to deplane the aircraft since immigration is backed up.

"will try to avoid in the future"

(United States)

I arrived into Tornoto between 2:00-3:00 Saturday afternoon from Rome Italy. I expected to have an easy 2 hour layover before my connecting flight to Detroit. I was wrong. The airport experience here was horrible. We had to wait in a confusing series of lines being commanded by unhelpful staff. After traveling since 7:00 am that morning (Italian time) I was tired and uncomfortable like most of the travelers around me. The rude and unhelpful behavior of the airport staff made a bad situation even worse. The lines were long due to lack of competent staff. If a traveler was confused by the computers they were directed to then the directions were simply shouted again with no real help given. Of course by the time we came to the last customs hurdle many people were going to miss their flights and had to be pulled to the head of the line. Again there was not enough staff to handle the situation. I was extremely disappointed in the management of Toronto Pearson Airport. I will try to avoid it in the future.
