Tbilisi Airport

✅ Trip Verified | Rude treatment of elderly passengers. This is not our first time visiting Tbilisi. It was always great. This year I decided to meet my elderly parents in this city. We were flying from America, they were from Belarus. We had a great time and were inspired by the beauty of Georgia, its hospitable people, unique culture and great food. But all of this was crossed out at the airport. Both of my parents are over 80 years old and it shows. At the security screening they were never offered help or possibility to skip the line. Moreover, they were rudely searched and groped, and my father was taken to a separate office, where he was forced to take off the hernia belt, which he never takes off and cannot put back on on his own. We got to the airport more than two hours before the flight time. However, because my parents cannot walk quickly all of this screening took a lot of time. They were at the security line past the boarding time. Even after their names were announced on the PA system several times, they were not allowed to go through passport control without standing in line. As the result, they were forced to run as fast as they could to get on the plane. My parents are very kind people, they never complain about anyone and try to stay positive. But I see that for a couple of days now they have not been able to recover from this stress. I am shocked by this attitude of the airport security and border control staff. I am very sorry that airport services demonstrate such treatment towards guests of their country.

✅ Trip Verified | The first interaction with the airport staff (immigration) on arrival was terrible. The lady was rude and unpleasant, treating me and my passport disrespectfully by throwing it and removing seals from the pages reserved for visas without any communication. When I asked her to kindly stamp on a used page with sufficient space for the Georgian stamp (as I had limited empty pages), she simply said "NO" without any elaboration. She then tried to talk to me in a language other than English (I assume Russian, but I am not sure) and expected me to understand. Her overall attitude was rude, and her tone of voice was unfriendly and irritated. I have traveled to more than 60 countries and have never been treated with such disrespect.

Not Verified | The staff at the airport is perhaps the rudest I’ve encountered in my life. They haven’t been properly trained on how to treat visitors. They yell and talk to people like they are dogs. The country was a wonderful place to visit full of good people, however the men checking your bags are hateful, condescending and outright disrespectful. I don’t mind it I can take it but to talk to my wife the way they did is unacceptable. Low quality, ignorant staff, it’s a horrible representation of such a beautiful country to deal with these people.

✅ Trip Verified | Staff are very rude. They checked me thoroughly and ask to open my bag and not to touch anything, i was just standing there and they are also checking the other passengers coming, after 15 mins i ask the security if i can go and get my bag she said “oh, yes you can, i forgot”. She made me wait for nothing. They have an overpriced for their food inside the airport. I will share this experience to my colleagues and other friends.

✅ Trip Verified | The airport is clean, very functional and not too big to the point it becomes customer unfriendly. As expected most products available to buy are well overpriced. Passport control and security was a breeze.

✅ Trip Verified | Small airport with no arrival duty free shop. Passport control staff attitude towards me was unacceptable. Had a valid 2-year multiple entry Schengen visa in my passport, but they asked me to show them the money I had with me, along with my return ticket and my hotel reservation. While leaving the country, I noticed filthy toilets and very few options of restaurants.

✅ Trip Verified | Modern airport generally fine. On arrival the taxi situation is uncontrolled resulting in rip-off cabs (I ended up angrily being demanded 100 GEL on arrival in Tbilisi for a 20 GEL journey). They seem to try to block Bolt which doesn’t seem to work. On departure good luck finding a coffee for less than $6 in any café - seems to be run by a cartel.

✅ Trip Verified | Awful experience, staff are very unprofessional and rude. They behave in a very bad manner, not making you feel welcome at all. Immigration officers are very nasty and unfriendly.

✅ Trip Verified | Reading all the bad reviews I cannot help but agree on how rude and unprofessional the airport staff is. Check in staff eating pumpkin seeds, security staff with a massive ego, and immigration officers acting in a disrespectful manner. Even the food and beverage staff have no clue about service and hospitality. Being such a beautiful tourist destination, you would think service is a priority, but we found it very disappointing. Good food, great nature, and not the warmest people.

✅ Trip Verified | Clean and overall good experience, but somehow airport terminal need to be renovated. Airport staff very friendly and helpful! Most important in pandemic situation, the airport has good precautions.
