"Worst gate I've ever experienced"

(United States)

Not Verified | Beautiful airport. Gates for boarding passengers creates a lot of stress. Lots of bickering and words for seats. People sleeping taking up spots. Counting out the seating on round couches there's maybe 50 total. 3 single chairs. Worst gate I've ever experienced. My flight has over 250 passengers.

"friendly and helpful staff"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | It is very comfortable and has friendly and helpful staff in general. There are lots of shops and amenities. It's world-class in my opinion. I am only removing one mark because one of the security check-in people was rude. Otherwise, this airport is a reflection of the Taiwanese people: classy and efficient!

"give all staff members full marks"

(Canada)

Not Verified | I must give all staff members full marks, for the time when I almost missed my flight to Jakarta, Indonesia! When arriving to the airport, in Taipei, confusion set in, because the transit passengers were told to go left but my gate was suppose to be the other way. I read the sign, went through the security and went to the gate I thought was the correct one. The signs were small, to show which flights were what. The one flight was about almost the same time as the other one (China Airlines) to Jakarta. When I asked the flight staff member what zone was shown (not even called out) he said I was in the wrong gate (C2 when suppose to be at A1). I rushed all the way back up - still going the wrong way. I flagged-down the best cart driver that then called for customer service, that called the other members that then held the plane for me for not that long too, and STILL I got the window seat to Jakarta!! I want to say THANK YOU to ALL that day.

"airport is like a ghost town"

(New Zealand)

Trip Verified | Due to COVID protocols Taipei Taoyuan airport is like a ghost town especially in terminal 1 in the early hours of the morning. Nothing open and the vending machines did not accept VISA or MasterCard. Very quick transit processing was the only positive

"she was displaying a very demeaning attitude towards us"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | There were several of us transiting thru Taoyuan Airport on our way to Vancouver, Canada on the evening of Nov. 8th 2022. Having to wait 4 hours for the next leg of our journey, we were glad to find the boarding lounge D2 open and empty. We rushed in and settled in to wait for our flight CI32 leaving at 11:15pm for Vancouver. Then a lady in an airport uniform came upon us and told us all to leave. Her tone was harsh and demanding: "Upstairs, out, out".... all of us got a little upset and some remained on their seats, confused. Some passengers asked her why she is shooing us away, as this is the only airport lounge in the world that doesn't allow passengers to wait for their flight in the boarding lounge. There was no other response than: "upstairs! go! go!" I didn't get her name, but she was in airport uniform like the others. I think that her attitude was rude, unbecoming of an airport staff that was supposed to make the passengers feel at home while waiting for their flights. We all thought that she was displaying a very demeaning attitude towards us. Hope that Taoyuan, will make sure that their staff has received proper training before being let loose to deal with different nationalities passing through the airport.

"the fastest and most efficient airport I have been to"

(Canada)

Not Verified | Taipei (Taoyuan CKS) Airport is probably the fastest and most efficient airport I have been to. Good signage from gate to customs, immigration and baggage areas. Beautiful art and Taiwanese Cultural paintings and pictures on the walls on the way to immigration. Embarkation Card filled out prior to landing makes Immigration a breeze. The immigration officers are friendly and smile. There's a 711 in the basement and one on 3F and also a food court in B1. Overall an excellent experience!

"very surprised how efficient and organised it was"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | Flew to TPE during pandemic and was very surprised how efficient and organised it was. I was expecting long queues for immigration and luggage reclaim but it turned out to be the most pleasant arrival experience. Once landed I was directed to a separate line to purchase Taiwanese SIM card (which is essential so the CDC can track your GPS location during self quarantine). The staff at the SIM card counter were super helpful and they installed the SIM and changed my phone setting in a few seconds. Then I was shown by another group of the staff on how to register the arrival COVID information on the phone and was told the waiting to be checked would not be long. They were right - once I received the registration confirmation I was through in no time. The immigration was also very smooth as there weren't many flights arriving, and again the immigration officer was friendly. Once through the immigration my luggage was already waiting in the reclaim belt. I overhead some passengers saying that the luggage was wet and realised the ground service had disinfected the luggage. So impressive. Then I walked out the main terminal to get a taxi. A policeman apologized for having to let me wait in front of the red light for 20 seconds and then helped me to push my luggage trolley. Once I reached the taxi rank I had to do another registration (so in case anyone who used the taxi got COVID they can track the taxi driver etc), another disinfection before I got on. To my surprise my taxi fare was much cheaper than normal. The taxi driver told me it was capped by the government so I only needed to pay partial tariff and he would get the subsidies from the government - a bid to encourage arriving passengers to use taxi instead of the public transport in order to control covid. What a great arrival experience!

"exceeded my expectations"

(United States)

Trip Verified | This airport exceeded my expectations. Upon arrival, immigration, baggage retrieval and customs were an absolute breeze, the easiest I've ever encountered in a major international airport. Perhaps because my flight was the only one arriving at its time in mid-morning. When I departed, the crowds were much larger, but security and immigration were still very efficient. The airport is visibly dated, except in its lobby, underground dining, and train station areas. Even with the visible dating, the airport is still very clean and has good seating, and enough options open for grabbing a coffee, delicious meal, or beer either pre or post-security. The people working here, even immigration and customs, are friendly, courteous and helpful, generally. The train direct into the city isn't particularly expensive, and, when you buy the token before hopping on the train, the token is this cute little purple token with some sort of chip inside, making entry into the train station contactless. When you come back from the city, a 3-D, electronic, multi-lingual wall showcasing world cities and their current times greets you and can be fun to stare and look at for a few seconds as long as you aren't in people's way. One minor criticism I have is that transport between the two terminals could stand to be a little more efficient, but at least that interterminal bus is nice.

"airport is clean and well designed"

(Singapore)

Trip Verified | The airport is clean and well designed. The departure procedure is straightforward, the arrival, however, is a bit confused. The terminal space is very limited so please expect long queue during peak hours for immigration or security check. Despite old facility, airport staff are helpful and friendly.

"whole airport seems in my opinion ineffective"

(Germany)

Trip Verified | I arrived at Taipei Terminal 2 too early, and I had to wait for 90 minutes until the Air France baggage drop opened. But there are no waiting seats in the whole departure level of Terminal 2. Airport staff does not speak English. After a lot of searching and asking, I finally found that one has to go to the arrival level of Terminal 2 to find a seat. The whole airport seems in my opinion ineffective, slow, and not addressing international passengers.
