"lack of toilets"

Not Verified | The lack of toilets at the end of the terminals where Virgin flies out of by 45 is appalling. There are 2 toilet blocks for females and today at 6pm one of them is broken so the queue is horrendous. It’s a Friday night and the airport terminal is teaming with people and 1 block of only 3 female toilets is unacceptable.

"staff generally have such a poor attitude"

Trip Verified | Shocked at the staff attitude at this airport. I’ve never come across an airport where the staff generally have such a poor attitude and have been quite as abrupt and rude as the airport staff at Sydney. An airport employee at bag drop (she wasn’t working for our airline) couldn’t be bothered to stop messaging on WhatsApp to speak to me whilst I stood next to her waiting to ask a question. When she finally looked up she just stared at me. I politely asked the question and she didn’t let me finish speaking before she gave an abrupt response. At security a border control employee was again abrupt and said “move. Move forwards” whilst I was waiting for my bag to come through. I apologised and moved forwards, and received a long rude stare from the man. In the meantime many people were standing far closer to the body scanner but he didn’t say anything to them about moving. My wife then came through and stood well past the same people lingering near the scanner and the same border force man told her to move forwards, again with no politeness or even a “please”. At this I spoke up and asked him if he was going to tell everyone else to move forward. He just looked at me. Having gotten through landside and past security I didn’t think it worth to pursue. What an atrocious experience. The worst of any international airport (large or small) I’ve ever experienced. I have to say there were two other airport staff who were kinder and polite, but clearly that is just them and not something Sydney airport trains or encourages generally in their staff. Awful experience - this sort of thing creates the stress and frustration in the airport experience that so many passengers hate about travelling. Teach your staff how to be at the very least civil Sydney Airport. You’re well behind every other airport in the world in that sense

"Shame on you Sydney airport"

Not Verified | I and other elderly persons had to walk what seemed several hundred metres with all our accompanying luggage to a crazy express pick up area for us to be picked up. Shame on you Sydney airport, everyone was complaining of no indication as to where to go and was nearly, what seemed to be near the Stamford hotel. It just does not make sense to be so far away from arrivals.

"in need of a serious shake up"

Trip Verified | I come from a developing country and I just wish to point out that I have never seen an airport this dirty, ugly and bad! Airports to me are meant to be glamourous, and Sydney is anything but that. The only free transit system between terminals is a bus driven by a grumpy driver. Trains cost you money. The terminal was filthy. The food options at the airport are pretty rubbish, the gate areas don't have sufficient charging spots, the terminals don't have enough washrooms, each one is quite a bit of a walk from the gates. Service wise the airport is alright, not the best but not the worst either. The airport is in need of a serious shake up. I cannot wait for the new airport in Sydney to open up so I can avoid flying through this mess.

"Been waiting on luggage for over an hour now"

Trip Verified | Been waiting on luggage for over an hour now (Cebu Pacific 5J39) absolute joke. Happy to rob people blind at car park waiting areas though so at least they are still making money at the end of the day. Pathetic, not the first time this has happened either.

"Plenty of shopping and a reasonable food court"

Not Verified | Coming in on a flight from Singapore on a Sunday morning, I would not have expected that it would take 50 minutes to get through the transit process (security rescreening) - not nearly enough capacity in the transit area to handle four flights at once. That said, the staff worked hard to ensure that passengers with tight transits (not me) were expedited through. Plenty of shopping and a reasonable food court.

"Will avoid this airport at any cost"

Not Verified | Sleeping outside the airport, waiting for a connecting flight. It seems surreal what travelers had to endure tonight. At 11pm the airport closed. Security asked all travellers waiting for morning flights to sit outside till 5am, in the middle of a thunderstorm. According to the security guard we should have catch a taxi and book a room in the city for the time the airport closed. On top of that, we had to pay 7$ to transit between T1 and T2 as the last free bus run is at about 8pm. Will avoid this airport at any cost.

"The transit system is terrible"

"you should really try harder to provide the basics"

Not Verified | We arrived from Cairns at 7pm, had to wait for empty planes to move for 15 minutes, we entered the airport and no food services anywhere. Served beer but not coffee, toilets were disgusting, lots of children tired and hungry waiting for the next flight at 8pm. Very disappointed and never want to go to Sydney for any reason. For an international airport, you should really try harder to provide the basics.
