"Absolutely useless"

(Australia)

Not Verified | Absolutely useless. Had to wait 1 hour for bags, then endure a transit to the domestic terminal which intelligently uses a congested public road. Missed my connecting flight, which I had left 3 hours between to be sure I had plenty of time to make.

"toilets absolutely putrid"

(Australia)

Not Verified | Had to take my mother to departures today. Went into the toilets near to the check in desks by British Airways check in. The toilets were absolutely putrid. Messy cubicles, 2 blocked toilets, paper all over the floor. What filthy individuals lurk around us. On the up side there was a wonderful lady that escorted my Mum into the departure lounge for her assisted passage.

"Everything was massively overpriced"

(United States)

Trip Verified | This airport is not one of my favourite airports. Check in was lacking the machines to get the ticket to go through the epassports. Why don't they install more machines? Then I had to catch a bus to a different terminal where there are no lounges except Qantas. Everything was massively overpriced, massive lack of powerpoints. It's almost like they have tried to make this airport inconvenient to use. Also the free wifi stops working as soon as you leave arrivals.

"Absolutely terrible experience"

(Australia)

Not Verified | Absolutely terrible experience. After a long flight, I had to wait for almost an hour before my bags came. Then I went to pick up my cousin two weeks later and it took almost the same time for his bags came out. They are making millions and provide such a terrible experience. It’s giving Australian tourism a bad name!

"Tiny and minimal signage"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | Tiny and minimal signage drowned out by overtly brightly lit and gawdy duty free outlets. Poorly laid out entry and exit through security screening staffed by incompetents who take no notice of people running back and forth and under the ropes or jump the queues or who have too much carry ons but insist on patting down with smelly unwashed hands and scanners more organised passengers because their x-ray jammed up. In my queue they even ran out of trays mainly because they only had half a dozen to begin with. Some of the security had long bleached hair or multiple studs in their ears and heavy and visible tattoos. Dirty seats await should you find one empty and you can forget about any phone charger socket. No sense of decoration for the time of year nor national identity unlike just about every other international airport. The shops and restaurants even close a couple of hours before last flights depart. I would give it zero stars if I could because no one is even close to being a star or respectable at this airport.

"Signage simply terrible"

(United Kingdom)

Trip Verified | Signage within the airport is just simply terrible. I can see I'm not the only person to comment on this. Maybe add some staff for transfers as people get off the plane if your not going to improve signage. Have a look at Dubai airport. It's massive but all signage is clear.

"exceptionally poor guest quality"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | Basket case airport. Equipment is run down and providing exceptionally poor guest quality. Queue times for arrival, immigration and luggage are extraordinarily bad. Sooner this airport is usurped for a new one the better. Disgraceful.

"Dismal and run down"

(Australia)

Not Verified | Dismal and run down. Passenger drop off at Intenational leaves you with approx 1km walk through car parks etc. Taxis are a nightmare. Queuing is unacceptable. This airport (with a few exceptions) hasn't had any significant upgrade in 50 years. It's a disgrace.

"zone of utter confusion"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | Arrived at Sydney from interstate, when leaving terminal for pick up - relevant signage is rare and confusing. Road layout for pickup is terrible and difficult to navigate. It is chaotic and has people manning checkpoints to direct traffic permanently due to this shortcoming, with accidents a sure thing in the priority parking zone AKA - zone of utter confusion. When the pick up station (express pick up) is finally found, it cost $9.50, to simply drive through and out the other side. The layout of this facility is a serious shortcoming to the designers, when compared to other domestic and international terminals. Feel for the staff working here, trying to keep things moving in a safe and efficient manner.

"Extremely limited seating capacity"

(Australia)

Not Verified | 1) Sydney Airport is one those airports that is constantly under renovation with most parts closed or inaccessible 2) Very limited shops and no way comparable to any of the South East Asian Airports 3) Extremely limited seating capacity in every gate. My young kids and I had to stand for more than 40 minutes as the flight was late and there are no seats available 4) What is 'pouring oil on fire' is despite lack of all these absolutely basic facilities that you come to expect from any airport (such as seating at gate, good shops, a viewing deck, etc.) the airport tax of this airport is one of the highest in the world. God knows how they can justify all these. 5) Right from departure hall the airport is as cramped as it could be and you get 'drop in ocean' countries like Singapore have a huge airport with many, many terminals.
