✅ Trip Verified | What a great experience visiting Split and I fell in love with Croatia - so sad when we got to the airport to discover all the charger ports to charge a phone simply does not work - not the plugs clearly made available nor the usb ports. Well bad luck I thought - though strange so many are out of action. Went on to look for a water fountain - none found - ok - ill buy a bottle of water (sad it will create plastic waste - hey ho) one place only selling water with a massively long queue - Hang on Ill ask 2 nice friendly looking ladies clearly airport staff …”excuse me I asked - is there perhaps a water fountain?” No came the answer … “you can drink water from the taps in the toilets - its drinkable” - clearly she found that very amusing as she laughed to her colleague and walked off. I then asked another airport staff member and he told me the same - I then asked if they do not find many people ask him for a water fountain - yes he said but our managers know this and they said that they will not allow water fountains. So sad how much waste water bottles are created and so sad that a great time in Split is now tarnished by a silly water fountain - but more so some of the rude staff at the airport - my advice - Split airport management - your culture of your company stink - look in the mirror to what cause this!

"the rudest airport staff I ever came across"

✅ Trip Verified | Absolutely the rudest airport staff I ever came across in my travel experience. I was catching a flight from Split to London Luton on 24th of October at 22.25. When I approached the check-in desk the lady was talking and laughing on the phone with her friend for at least few minutes while I was just standing there and waiting for her finish. After she finally was done, she told me that my flight is full and that she will need to take my bag. I had a speedy boarding ticket with EasyJet and a large cabin bag to take on the flight for which I payed £40 pounds. Anyways, I gave away my bag, and after boarding the flight I saw that it is actually half empty! I approached EasyJet flight attendant and told her my situation, she was in shock and said that they had no right to take my bag even if the flight would be full because I am in S1 category and that I will be getting a full refund for that. On top of that my bag arrived in horrible condition, it is quite pricey and now EasyJet will have to provide me with compensation for mistakes of Split Airport staff. I had such a wonderful time in Split and it is very unfortunate that my holiday ended with such bad experience.

"Appalling security experience"

✅ Trip Verified | Appalling security experience, my prescription glasses were somehow “chewed” by security X-ray machine, despite being in a tray!!, staff would not issue any kind of note to verify that damage had been caused thus making it impossible to claim my insurance.

"Staff are disgustingly rude in the duty free."

From throwing baskets in your face and giving out about holding one product in your hand because you should follow "the rules" and have a basket although no such rule is displayed in the shop to gossiping about you to every colleague in the shop out loud and throwing hands in the air over a silly basket. Workers are snappy, hot tempered and not helpful at all, in fact, they get annoyed over silly things like being in the way when as a customer, you’re simply shopping. Staff also pretend they don’t know what a supervisor or a manager is although their English is good.

"Don't rely on the Airport for food"

Not Verified | It's really difficult to know where to begin. What a nice new terminal building. How about the bag drop though? It was a Sunday evening but there were still about 8 to 10 flights to leave so plenty of passengers still with luggage. There are about 20 or so bag drops. One bag drop is open for 'all flights' and one for business travellers, nothing else. A queue of passengers stretches to half way to the entrance door, big queue. To be fair after about 10 mins two more bag drops open but the queues are still large. Security and Passport control fast and friendly. Don't rely on the Airport for food, after passport control, there are only a couple of sandwich kiosks with offerings that reminded me of the 1970/80s; water was about £3 a 50cl bottle. Plenty of space for duty free but with nothing duty free. It was all clean and regularly cleaned.

Not Verified | Entrance to security stopped us to check our UK entry forms, but no signage that they planned to do so. After that, going through security was quick. Not enough seats due to social distancing meaning some seats were unavailable. One coffee stand was only thing open, and duty free was overpriced. Airport wifi free for 60 minutes but signal kept cutting in and out.

"Cafè Bars are closed"

Not Verified | We thought we'd get to the airport early (it's recommended to get there 3 hours in advance before departure) so we could have lunch there. Little did we know there are no restaurants at that airport .. really disappointing given all the tourists. We ended up finding a Cafè Bar near the Rental Car area. You have to cross the road (via the covered walkway) and get out of the building. They have sandwiches and drinks. But it's hot. Inside the terminal there are a couple of areas with seats and tables but the Cafè Bars are closed! It's peak tourist season, mkes no sense!

"Not everyone can wait in the sun"

Not Verified | Corona test can only be done outside of the airport in the tent - we were there in the summer and the heat was very strong. My older parents were not able to stand in the sun to wait for the test to be made (you literally have to wait up to 30 minutes in the heat). We do not understand why corona test cannot be done in the airport in some closed space with air conditioning like everywhere else in Europe. Not everyone can wait in the sun by 35 plus Celsius.
