Seychelles Airport customer review

What a difference a year makes particularly if the Seychelles want to celebrate 30 years of independence too. The airport has had a makeover which although not entirely finished is very pleasing. The airside areas have been extended and tastefully refurbished; departures particularly would rate alongside many other airports now. Nice duty free area and a bar together with plenty of seats. Pleasant start to my journey (SEZ-DOH-LGW with Qatar) but I soon came down to earth at the zoo they call Doha!

Seychelles Airport customer review

What is so incredible is that this airport is tiny for the amount of traffic it gets. Check in is outside and there's an open air cafe with rip off prices. Tip go to the Domestic Terminal shop under the covered boardwalk 10 meters away for more selections. Avoid entering immigration until the last possible minute as you will wait at the only boarding gate which is one big glass fishbowl of a room with a tiny duty free A Rip off Tanzanite shop from South Africa and a bar serving squishy sandwiches. It's a truly horrible airport with no relief from the sweltering humidity. Check in early as the lines will reach to the parking lot if the aircraft is a 747. Praslin airport is deserving of Paradise-not Mahe. The security screeners are very sharp and miss nothing. Nothing really has changed at Mahe Airport since it was built some decades ago. It's not a place to hang around. You want to get in and out as fast as you possibly can. Preferably to the nearest Pool or beach. God help Smokers in the departure room. A closet sized space with an overflowing ashtray accommodates those craving a nicotine fix. The air is so cloudy that other smokers can't even see each other a chair away- and there's 4 of those. No jetways to the aircraft. Walk and lug your stuff up the airstairs yourself. Not easy when you are travelling with a baby and all the junk that comes with that.
