Sapporo Chitose Airport

Not Verified | Being in this airport was so much fun. From the royce chocolate factory to different shopping areas, there are lots of thing to do. I arrived 3 hours early, but still did not have enoungh time to explore the airport. The immigration was systemized and there were almost no lines. Although it is not a 5 star airport I think it has to be one of the best in the world

✅ Trip Verified | I have been to some of the world's best 5-star (SIN, ICN, HKG, HND) airports, but Sapporo's New Chitose tops them all. Why? So much to do and enjoy - Airport History Museum, Royce Chocolate World factory, open-air Observation Deck, Movie Theatre, Onsen, Sky Museum (interactive airline stuff for kids and adults), Hello Kitty Theatre, Hotel, amazing number and variety of food court options. Aside from these "frills", New Chitose excels in what really matters to travelers. Despite huge crowds (Sapporo-Tokyo is one of the world's busiest routes) terminal is spacious and easy to navigate. Efficient check-in counters-one dedicated to just school groups. Spotless restrooms, plenty of seats in departure areas, Easy to use, frequent (every 15 minutes) JR train connections (39 minutes) to Sapporo Station. Polite, hard-working security teams, Short waits on the runway for takeoffs.

✅ Trip Verified | The queuing time was fast. But free wifi was poor, rather it didn't work at all. Not suitable for work. The screen shows departure flights by gate, each screen shows only the departure flights from the nearest gate. For example, if your flight departs from gate A and you are at gate F, you will not find your flight on the screen near you. So you have to run around to every gate in hope that the screen on those gates will show your flight.

This airport has frequent JR rail connections to Sapporo making it very convenient. Huge shopping area and many places to eat and drink. Support staff was very friendly and helped me make a free Wi-fi connection as well as find me a restaurant that serves vegetarian food.

Very good facilities as there are plenty of shops and restaurants. Great transport connection particularly as the JR station is just at the basement. However capacity at the international terminal seems to be pretty constrained. There can be very very long queues at both check-in and security when a few flights depart at around the same time.

I've flown through this airport 2 or 3 times now and it's always a good experience. It's a lovely modern building the staff are very helpful security/customs/immigration has always been quick and painless. It only takes 40-50 mins by train they have a decent airport hotel located in the domestic arrivals terminal and it's always spotless.

SIN-NAR-Sapporo-NAR-SIN trips for last two years Sapporo New-Chitose impressed me. Comfortable massage chairs located around airport dining options fair but still better than others small and somewhat ageing but still cosy. Check-in fast for domestic. Glad to go there again.

Shin-chitose airport is really effective! A lot of souvenir shops and wonderful musiam in the airport. A brand new international terminal will be open in 2010. Great hotels and various amusement things are worth of expecting.

A modern and convenient airport in Hokkaido Island. There is a direct train service from the Sapporo train station to the basement of the New Chitose Airport station. The only negative point about the airport is there are too many shops selling the same local stuff.

Sapporo's New Chitose airport is very effective and user friendly facility. Located somewhat far from Sapporo it is perfectly linked to the city and the region by rail. Quick check-in quick baggage delivery good choice of food outlets landside but not a lot of things to do airside. The train station is underground as almost everywhere in Japan. All in all very good. 5 star.
