San Jose Intl Airport customer review

I have been both a traveller and also a person picking up a traveller from SJC. Being a passenger the SJC airport is nice and updated. The only bad thing is the length of walk of certain terminals and terminal to baggage claim. It can be a bit far depending if you're terminal is the farthest from baggage claim. Now as a person picking up a traveller from SJC. From terminal A it is fine given departures are on the right side and pick ups from baggage is from the left side - not much of a bottle neck affect. However from terminal B it is terrible. The departures are on the right and right after is baggage claim therefore causing bottle neck affect. Did the architects not see this would happen? The baggage claim area should be further down or same as terminal A on the other side therefore not causing much traffic!

Terminal B hideous for elderly. Walk from Southwest to Baggage - no moving sidewalks no electric carts visible.

The new terminal B is quite nice but the walk from check-in to boarding is long with no other way to get from one to the other. There are excellent places to eat and shop. It is much closer to fly into or out of SJC than SFO and Oak. The airport does need more non-stop cross country flights and international flights too.

The airport was recently remodelled to upgrade restaurants and services inside the airport. However the baggage claim and rental car location was poorly designed. If you are flying Delta the baggage claim is one direction and the rental car pickup location is the extreme opposite direction. It is approximately a mile walk (with luggage!) from the gate to the rental car pickup location. In addition there are an inadequate number of busses that pickup up passengers resulting in delays upward of 10 to 20 minutes. Then the rental car centre has the rental car counters spread out against the wall of the facility while the cars are on the floors above. The only access to the cars are elevators on the opposite side of the terminal. If you are a senior citizen or someone having difficulty walking long distances avoid this terminal at all cost.

I know the old Terminal C was horrible but it's now closed. The Terminal B is awesome! While I was at the airport I walked from Terminal B to Terminal A which was a long walk. Terminal A is good I don't know why it got bad reviews. They still do need to add the moving sidewalks but other than that the airport is cool. At the time they did have staff giving rides to people inside Terminal B on golf cart kind of vehicle which I thought was convenient. In the Terminal B parking garage they have people directing you to a spot which also was convenient.

San Jose Int'l is still a hell-hole and still my least favourite of the 3 San Francisco Bay Area airports but it's slowly improving as the city of San Jose and the airport authority have finally gotten serious about renovating it and making it more user-friendly. Terminal A (the larger and newer of the 2 terminals) has been remodeled to add more windows and light and the dark filthy carpeting has been replaced. They still haven't bothered to install moving walkways despite the very long distances between the terminal entrance/exit and the farthest gates however and the narrow corridors and lack of floor space cause major crowding problems during peak times. Food and beverage options are very basic with overpriced and bad food. Terminal B is set for a major renovation. They will finally add jetways and build a new facility that brings it into the 21st Century. The renovation of the parking areas and airport access roads is nearly complete and the airport is now much easier to get in and out of by car.
