"I could not believe the amount of walking"
Jeffrey Merwin (United States)
Not Verified | I could not believe the amount of walking. I arrived on Southwest at the far end of terminal B. I started walking, and walking and more walking. I'm 65 years old and must have walked for what seemed like 25 minutes to get to terminal A and then struggled to see the signs for exiting. Once I got out of the airport I ended up first at UBER drop off, then UBER pickup. I had to go back in up an escalator, across a sky bridge and down to passenger pick-up. Very poor signage.

"The long walks are ridiculous"
C Miller (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | I guess when they were designing this airport they were trying to mimic the nightmares of Heathrow. The long walks are ridiculous. A18 to A25 aren't bad but any other gate is over a mile walk. If you fly anyone but Delta your screwed going to terminal B. What are the elderly, or people with young children, or the disabled supposed to do. This layout was obviously designed by marathon running 18 year old because no one with intelligence or experience would have done this.

"new airport complex is not traveler friendly"
Gerald Jacobs (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | The new airport terminal complex is beautiful in architecture and has plentiful and clean restrooms. However, the eateries seem to be almost all high end with focus on adults and alcoholic drinks. Traveling with children leaves essentially no food options conducive to young tastes or family budgets. We discovered there were hardly any food options for quick take away to take aboard aircraft. The old terminal avoided these shortcomings with availability of McDonalds, Burger King, Popeye Chicken, etc; why have such/similar eateries been omitted?. It makes no sense for the Shakes Shack eatery to be located where travelers have exited the secured terminal area. The new eateries seem to be focused more on high profitability and business travelers; while overlooking the need for traveling families to feed their children at reasonable prices. My wife and I are senior ages and the arduous 20 minute trek between TSA check and Southwest gates in Terminal 2 left us exhausted. Signage could be improved for luggage pickup carousels; overhead signs give the airline arrival flight numbers, but no information on which carousel luggage is to be found. The Honolulu terminal had a very helpful feature; public address system frequently announced which luggage carousel was being used for each incoming flight. This new airport complex while attractive, is not traveler friendly.

"What a disappointment!"
S Martin (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Lived in SLC in the 90's and travelled back and forth hundreds of times. Today was my first visit to new SLC Airport. What a disappointment! Need to walk miles to get the the exit. Terminal B is behind Terminal A connected by underground passage that looks horrible - cheap version of O'Hare United Terminal B to C connector. Both terminals look like anywhere USA, with the exit from the airport to the car rental that reminds of a scaled down version Miami International. Who did that project, and who approved it? Suddenly my favorite airport is gone, new not friendly for older travelers due to long distances to cover. Would recommend to have an extra hour or so to be able to get to the right gate.

"The new SLC airport is a joke!"
T Alli (United States)
Not Verified | The new SLC airport is a joke! The amount of walking you have to do to get to any airline gate besides the Delta is absurd! 20 minutes even with moving walkways and that is no exaggeration. Very poor design. Clearly they don't value anyone's time or needs of senior citizens, small children, individuals with knee issues or individuals with weight problems. I was nothing but angry after coming in on a late flight. I had to wait for my luggage in the cold since my airline checked everyone's luggage at the gate for this flight. All I wanted was to get out of the airport and get home but had to walk 20 minutes from my gate to get to my pick-up. A real deterrent for anyone flying in or out from this airport. Does not meet needs.

"SLC is absolutely the worst"
J Loyd (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | I fly a lot out and into airports small and large all over the US and this new Terminal at SLC is absolutely the worst I have ever been in. For a big airport and only having 1 TSA check point is horrible, signage for Priority line is almost invisible and only saw it after waiting in half mile general boarding line. The walk to B gates is an absolute JOKE. And once there the options of food or drink or adult beverages is evan more depressing. To think of the cost of this new terminal and it’s extremely poor design for passengers is mind boggling. Salt Lake City you should be ashamed of your self for approving this airport. It needs major upgrades already.

"New design is horrible"
L Brett (United States)
Not Verified | New design is horrible. Getting to B terminal is a very long walk. Some of the automatic walkways were broken. You have to walk to the center of terminal A, then go down under the tarmac, walk another long way under the tarmac and then come back up. Then you have to walk again. With a spouse who has trouble walking it was brutal. Whomever designed this airport and signed off on the design should be fired.

"I absolutely dread having to use this airport!"
G Hurst (United States)
Not Verified | Just a suggestion if you are using the new SLC airport start physically training months in advance! I have never walked such a long distance at any other airport I’ve used! I’m a senior citizen, with back and knee problems, which makes this airport not user friendly. I was escorting my minor grandchild to and from her flights to gate A-2, by the time we made it to the gate, surely we had walked to the neighboring city of Bountiful! I can only imagine if they had gate changes, people would be livid! As for the luggage pickup. I agree there isn’t enough info to get you to the correct Carousel! I absolutely dread having to use this airport!

"Had to walk over a mile to get to B gates"
Nancy Clements (United States)
Not Verified | Had to walk over a mile to get to B gates! I watched a young mother with 2 small children try and carry luggage and push stroller all the way to B gate. Rolling walkways were not that helpful. 2 words, train system! It would not only help families with children but elderly get from tsa to gates. A passenger could easily miss their flight if not made aware of the long walk ahead. Poor design. Even the airport staff I spoke with told me how unhappy they are with the layout and encouraged me to write a review because the "higher-ups" won't listen to them! Very poor design.

"No regard for COVID at all"
A Sandler (United States)
Not Verified | No regard for COVID at all. No social distancing. TSA agents, people working at food places, and other staff with masks well below their nose or mouth. Lines for security are packed with absolutely no social distancing. Passengers in the airport with masks down or no masks at all in line for food, in walkways and at gates. Over half of the hand sanitizer stations are empty. Soaps in the bathrooms empty too. It's as if they don't know or care about COVID 19. SLC airport should be appalled. They most certainly are aiding in the spread of COVID19 in ways that are completely avoidable. Avoid this airport at all costs during COVID19. Make them reevaluate their practices and take this pandemic more seriously. I felt extremely unsafe in this airport.
