"awful, abysmal airport"

✅ Verified Review | Pula is the most awful, abysmal airport I have ever come across. The customer service was horrid from start to finish. Miserable unhelpful staff who made us run around in circles with a baby and did absolutely nothing to aid or assist us. For starters they said our baby (1 year old) had to have her own boarding pass. Ridiculous as easyJet have never done this on any flight I've been on. And it clearly said on my boarding card my name and hers as infant below. After we had done this at the check in desk and returned to the security they then said I didn't realise you had a pushchair (even though they'd clearly seen it)! And sent us back to the check in desks again to get a ticket for the pushchair. Every easyJet flight has always given us one just as we board the plane never before. We then go into the 'airport' better described as a glorified tin shed bus garage. They have 1 cafe. It serves only sandwiches and crisps and overpriced drinks. The sandwich was bone dry. They had no baby food to give our daughter for dinner but security will throw away your baby food. I complained about the sandwich and managed to get money back but the staff were disgraceful as they all are. Our flight was then delayed, no announcement was made just a notice on the board for a packed flight with babies and children that it would leave 1.30hrs later. By this time it is nearly midnight. I asked the staff if they were going to say why the plane was delayed or reassure people what was happening. They just all stood around looking gormless. Then a woman came through shouting gate 1 gate 3 gatwick we weren't sure which it was so went to both - it was a Dublin flight. I lost it by then our daughter is tired and screaming they didn't care and just looked at us blankly. We will not be returning to this airport ever again.

It looks like it has been years since the last review of this airport. STN-PUY-STN mid August. There were no other planes present at the arrival and despite being in the middle of the plane (and last to get out and pass the border control) this was the quickest exit from the airport ever. It took less than 10 minutes from plane seat to arrivals hall. Return (only flight again) was a little bit worse. Quick check in and security control pleasant enough cafe and two shops with local produce and the best of all- the outdoors observation area at the top of the waiting hall. What spoiled the perfect arrival/departure? As per usual "Europe's largest low cost airline" started announcing boarding despite the arriving flight was not even near the Croatian airspace. Me and my partner decided against standing in the queue until at least arriving plane was in our sight but this was prevented by member of staff shouting at us (at the observation deck) that we should proceed through the boarding gate (reminder - inbound flight did not arrive for another 20 minutes). Otherwise very pleasant experience probably since there were no other flights around.

It is not large and mainly used by holiday traffic especially from the UK Russia and Scandanavia and definitely has capacity problems coping with the summer surge and not just at check-in as we found out when our flight back to the UK was delayed. There is just one circulating area cum lounge in the upper storey with doors leading off to the apron via stairways. Nevertheless the terminal is fairly clean and I have been stuck in far worse and at least the air-con was working. One bizarre detail is that proudly displayed in arrivals is a a copy of a local Danse Macarbe freize not the most reassuring image of Croatia to greet passengers with and in reality well removed from the truth.
