"Security was a breeze"
21 reviews N Malcolm (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | There is a reason why this airport is consistently named among the best small airports in the USA. Thanks to COVID, some shops and eateries have shuttered and not reopened to date. Security was a breeze. There was no line and I walked right up to the TSA counter and cleared security in less than 10 minutes. There is a spill over of passengers from the gate area to the concourse, nonetheless, there is enough space to navigate the concourses. The Escape Lounge is a welcome addition to this airport.

"Terrible wait times and lines"
H Leeson (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Terrible wait times and lines. This is my 3rd experience with an unacceptable wait in the security line at this airport. Many people around me were within minutes of missing flights due to the incredibly slow, understaffed security lines. Be careful flying from this airport.

"very disappointed with how the staff handled the situation"
Cade Bolen (United States)
Not Verified | This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with an airport. I arrived an hour and 30 minutes ahead of my flight and missed my flight due to a failure with TSA. It took over an hour and 30 minutes to have my carry on bag checked and to go through the detectors. Also, the workers were very rude about the whole process. I overheard many people asking “what do I need to do if I miss my flight?”, “I have somewhere I need to be at a certain time what do I do?”. The response to these questions was “you’ll just have to book another flight” and “take that up with your flight provider.” I understand that things happen and technology fails and situations occur, but I was very disappointed with how the staff handled the situation. I was also told “just leave and come back before your flight.” Well, not everyone lives around this area and not everyone is able or capable of leaving for 12 hours and coming back whether that be due to funds or time constraints. Due to my experience here at Providence airport, I more than likely will not be returning mainly because of how unprofessional and how indifferent the staff was. I hope that no one else has this experience.

"Security is a breeze"

✅ Trip Verified | There is a reason why this airport was ranked among the top airports in the country. Its very easy to navigate, the facilities are very clean and there is free wifi for 30 minutes. Security is a breeze with the lines moving very quickly. The TSA staff are pleasant and friendly. There are several food options here ranging from fast food, coffee to sit down restaurants. Wolfgang Puck's and the Providence Oyster Bar are highly recommended. There are also a number of retail shops with Brooks Brother among the more prominent ones. Plenty of restrooms which are not only clean but maintained at regular hourly intervals.

"clean and with good amenities"
B Tortajada (United Kingdom)
❎ Unverified | I was extremely impressed with Providence TF Green Airport. It is high up on the list of my favorite small airport and here’s a lowdown on it: The Terminal: It is all very straightforward, with everything well signposted and not complicated at all. Security is efficient and the multiple times we’ve gone through there wasn’t much line at all. After Security, there is a decent selection of Shops and Dining. The shops include the standard souvenir and news shops, plus a few interesting clothes and accessory shops. Food-wise there is a small but good variety of places to eat, ranging from a Dunkin Donuts to an Oyster Bar. The seating in the terminal is comfortable and regularly equipped with charging outlets. The Wi-Fi is nothing special, free for 30 minutes, but at least it’s there. Connections: Norwegian Air advertises the airport as Boston/Providence. While Providence isn’t too far from Boston it is still a good hour driving. The RIPTA bus service passes reasonably frequently and is a good way to get to downtown Providence. I recommend that or the Peter Pan Coach over the MBTA train as that passes infrequently and only works on weekdays. To get to Boston using Public transportation I would recommend taking the Coach as the train not only rarely passes but it takes forever as it stops at every station along the route. And there it is. A nice little airport, clean and with good amenities. The main problem is the lack of connections, especially late at night, which might make an uber the only option. I really recommend it though, even as a low-cost alternative to Boston.

Very nice airport. Small, short ways with quick check-in, short TSA waits, short Gate walks and free wifi for 30 minutes.

Quick lines through security and it is a better option than flying out of Logan with the longer lines. Airport restaurants/bars are limited but OK for all the longer that you will be there.

TF Green airport was one of the most comfortable and easy airports I used on my recent trip. The staff and security there are pleasant and cordial the airport doesn't have a busy feeling about it yet it feels very 'with it'. Its location is great and it's only an hour's drive away from Boston. I would use this airport again if I was flying to the area.

(June 27 2012) As a frequent user of the Providence T.F. Green airport (PVD) I will say that the airport is a true four star facility. While it still is a small airport by most standards it has a surprising number of plusses that as has been said by others to be a reasonable alternative to Boston Logan (BOS) but only if you are flying within the US (no international arrivals or departures except to Toronto). Upon entry into the departures area the ticket stands are almost all within the same distance from the entry doors to the terminal. You don't have to hike a mile to get to Southwest and 10 feet to American like many other airports do. TSA security is also right there so one doesn't have to hike for that either. The TSA crew does their job well but they get backed up during the 6-8 AM rush. After TSA the main passageway is quite wide and is always clean. It is set up so when you leave TSA you are located dead centre in the passageway (equidistant to either end of the terminal) so there's not as much walking to do. There are plenty of concessions. Signage is good. The seats at the gates are what I would rate as not bad not terrific. Upon arrival the walk to the baggage claim is good with a "detour" that keeps the arriving passengers to not have to deal with departing passengers. Waiting for your luggage is longish sometimes but good overall. There's even a Starbucks in the baggage claim area! There is now a connecting passageway that takes you to a train station that is served by the MBTA (important: weekdays only! With any luck this will change in the future.) (AMTRAK for some reason won't stop there.) where you can get to downtown Providence Boston and most points in between. Next to the train station is a new parking garage. We're supposed to get a lengthened main runway in the near future but with today's economy that may get put on the back burner. And by the way: the locals would have you know that PVD is located in Warwick RI not Providence!
