Prague Airport

Booked online and showed up to check in luggage. Incompetence and rudeness started right from entering this airport. It's 2am and have been sitting in Dubai airport for 4 hours waiting for my luggage that the rude check in operator sent through to Brisbane. My advice check your luggage tags for where they have sent your luggage.

Clean and well lit airport. The best way to downtown is to get a radio taxi inside the terminal which offers a large discount for return journeys. Airport food choices a little limited and there is no smoking ban in the airport so if you sit inside the restaurant there is a chance it will be smokey (though you can sit outside). Sign posting was good and staff were helpful. Decent selection of souvenir shops.

2 flights in 2 weeks one was KLM to Amsterdam in C class. Check in was in seconds security was a breeze and since its an EU flight there was no passport control. EU flights leave from T2 large and airy I suggest a bit more greenery to smarten it up. But squeaky clean shops cafes etc. Sky Priority in security check and boarding working fine and smooth. Arrival to T2 was also very quick and smooth bags took a while to come (20min) but priority tags were respected. Stress free experience. Second flight was from T1 with Czech airlines to and from Abu Dhabi in Economy. This is the non-EU terminal. Check in was rather quick with no actual drop off baggage counter (CSA mistake) passport control was as well a breeze. At arrivals all EU passport holders can use the self passport control took all but a couple of seconds easy to use and would quicken the process but many were a bit scared to use it. The non-EU passport holders takes 20-25 minutes at least. The departure gate was barely enough for the number of the passengers which was very uncomfortable. Prague airport is quite good to fly from and too. Its never too much of a hassle and with minor tweaking here and there it could be even better. The experience us usually good. The return flight to Abu Dhabi was almost midnight so most shops were closed or closing.

I used PRG as a transit airport several times a year between 2007 and 2009. It never let me down. Never much queuing everything running smoothly. Perfect size for an airport. Good places of spotting as well. Good prices nice KFC restaurant. They never lost any bag I had even with a 20 minute connection once. Avoid the Coca Cola "bar". Horribly overpriced for Prague standards. Easy to navigate helpful young personnel with good English skills. Would love to still use this as a connecting hub but not so at the moment as CSA does not fly my normal route any longer.

Flew BA so went to use the John Menzies lounge in T1. Not bad. Good view of manoeuvring area. Good choice of beverages. Food rather limited. Lots of chocolate wafer biscuits. Inbound flight delayed due to weather so spent another 2 hours in the lounge. All in all a nice airport to travel into/out of.

After nearly 12 hours in transit from Atlanta via Frankfurt to Prague I was delightfully surprised. The airport is new shiny and easy to navigate. We cleared passport control customs picked up our bags and were on our way in 30 minutes. When we flew out we had no problems with check in security finding our gate nothing. Many other major airports could learn from this one.

Transit between terminals 1 and 2 was extremely smooth though it was not a peak rush hour and the limited security control lanes could conceivably cause queues. Service at the transfer desk was excellent. Restaurants and cafe's could improve their quality though still rank on the better side.

Very nice relaxation lounge. The only but major downside: the most expensive airport cafes I have ever seen - 10 euros for a double cappuccino.

Easy arrival from New York cleared customs within 20 minutes of landing airport very easy to navigate and find transportation into the city center. Flying out of Prague going through security was very easy and checking in at the airport was personable and easy.

Terminal 2 Schengen area flight. On arrival efficient debarking and fast luggage delivery. You must be aware that starting in January 2011 the CEDAZ shuttle bus as ceased to operate to the hotels and only have the schedule services to city centre. We use taxi that has a kiosk in the arrivals. They give you a return discount coupon and call a cabby's to the desk. The service cost us 600 CZK to Prague centre and a lot less in the return voyage 400-450CZK. Departure hall is big and efficiently run including a fast security check. Reasonable selections of shops and free shops but the food outlets are on the expensive side. Good standards of cleanliness and comfort. On the whole a good place to start or finish a trip.
