Pisa Airport

Not Verified | Overcrowded, filthy, tiny airport. No seats whatsoever. People forced to stand on lines for hours. Ridiculous. Absolutely low-grade in all respects. I will do all I can to avoid this filthy trap in the future.

Not Verified | Pisa airport is the worst airport I’ve ever been to and I have seen many airports. It hasn’t been updated since the dawn of time with two officers reviewing passports while there are hundreds and hundreds of people waiting. Honestly shocking how awful it is.

Not Verified | I have been in many airports Across the globe and I can honestly say Pisa International Airport is the worst airport I've ever had the Misfortune to take a departing flight from. It is clear the airport is vastly oversubscribed and has never updated its infrastructure to cater for the increased capacity overtime. Once you arrive at departures, there are no seats, with customers fighting over the few seats available while others stand in every available nook and cranny or sit in the floor. There are only two places to eat in departures which is also full of seat hoggers. Toilets are also disgusting. How anyone could think this is acceptable in this day and age is beyond me. Will never be back to this airport.

✅ Trip Verified | Shame on this horrible airport. Miserable organisation, filthy, overcrowded: one of the worst Italy has on offer. Not a single good word to spend. Going through security takes hours and the queue starts already from outside the terminal. Mind you, this isn’t because of too little personnel, rather it is the absolute incompetence reigning in this airport! To be avoided by all means.

✅ Trip Verified | Poor from start to finish. Poor signage for drop off (in fact, no real area to drop off) and a long walk in the heat from car rental (shuttle is very infrequent). Check in doesn’t open until 2 hours before take off. And then there are long queues. Tax refund service is before security but we were told it was after (and no-one else had even heard of it). Arrivals cafe gave my wife and two kids a tummy bug that lasted 4 days. On departure - once you go through passport control there is one manky cafe and not a single duty free or other shop (bizarre given only those after passport control should be entitled to duty free). Post security and pre passport control can only be described as a zoo. No seating, so everyone crowding around standing. Toilets are a hygiene risk Avoid if you can.

✅ Trip Verified | All the toilets are disgusting, so smelly you can't even breath. There are no drinking water fountains. Water prices are extortionate. Seating area is very small and crowded.

Not Verified |   Lots of issues with this airport. It is not big enough or well equiped enough to handle the amount of traffic that is currently going through it. I've arrived here several times and have had to sit on the aircraft for up to an hour waiting for a parking space. There are not enough stairs for arriving aircraft and not enough working ground generators. leading to huge delays, Try sitting on an aircraft in august on the Pisa ramp without air conditioning and you'll know what I mean, Security queues are huge and slow. Once through security, passport control is nothing short of scandalous. I've never seen more than 2 desks open. The escalator going up to passport control is an accident waiting to happen. The queue can back up onto it , I've brought this to the attention of airport management several times and they are just not interested. If you are checking in hold luggage, 2 hours is not enough time to get to your gate before it closes. As in all airports the prices are daylight robbery. I did notice that there were no testers for perfumes just before and after Christmas, I wonder why? If you arrive in winter you will invariably get soaked walking from the aircraft to the terminal and God help you if you have hired a car. I've had to wait ouside in the rain for 5 minibus trips before getting on, Queues were huge. There are no baggage troleys at the car hire area so you will struggle if you have more than one case. Boarding is chaos, Either the airport or the airlines think it's OK to keep customers packed into a staiwell for up to an hour before departure in freezing cold or swealtering hot conditions without anywhere to sit. On arrival in Pisa be prepared to wait for anything up to 2hrs for your luggage and don't even expect it to come in on the belt that it actually says on the screen. On arrival there is some guy directing the 2 lines at passport control. He seems to take great pleasure in saying Breeteesh is not Europe anymore, It might be worthwhile if someone told him that there is a difference between Europe and the European Union. If you have a choice don't use this Airport, I've found staff to be rude and offhand, queues for everything, filthy toilets,outrageous prices for anything that you buy. It's not a friendly airport and it certainly isn't customer friendly.

Not Verified | In this day in age what airport closes at 12 midnight. Security staff are extremely rude, especially the guys on tonight, 6/11/23. I'll avoid this airport at all costs for future travel. Most Italians are lovely but any of those in any sort of position of power are rude and obnoxious at best. Done with Pisa and its excuse for an airport!

Not Verified | This must have been the worst airport I ever visit. We were on a transit flight from Malta, but you have to get out of the airport and check in again. All items bought in the Duty free zone on Malta airport could not go through the new security check we had to do in Pisa. Because we had to catch the connecting flight we did not discuss with the rude security staff. We had to leave our Items behind. The airport is old, dirty, toilets are very dirty and not enough room to handle big crowds.

✅ Trip Verified | The staff were very rude and unprofessional. They have this rule that you cannot go through security 2.5 hours before your flight however this was not communicated by the airline or the airport so I arrived early enough to have a relaxed shopping time at the airport only to wait outside for an hour. I understand this is a small airport but it could be communicated better. All I wanted was to spend more money in the Duty Free. They should really work on their Customer Service skills. Overall I had a great time in Italy but little things like that make it feel not as welcoming as it could.
