"ridiculously small for a brand new airport"

✅ Trip Verified | First visit to this brand new airport that replaced the old one, the longer 1400m runway facilitates larger aircraft than the old airport, which is a good thing for tourism and the economy, and can expand even more. The problems are in the modest terminal that can facilitate current passenger volumes but is ridiculously small for a brand new airport. Will need significant expansion to facilitate any growth. Arrivals hall is literally a small room with two doors, one facing the road, the other facing airside. When passengers arrive from a flight, anyone can easily cross the (already open) automatic sliding doors from the road and reach the apron without any security barrier or officer monitoring. There is very little room for parking and after just one year of operation the benches in front of the terminal are already corroded.
