Like all the recent reviews we were today horrified at the queues and the heat at passport control. We had a nice holiday but we won't be going back to Majorca again solely because of the fact that 2 or even 4 passport control officers are incapable of checking the thousands of passports on a busy day. And then not to have an air conditioned airport! There are a great many other nice places to go in the world without having to undergo what we went through today.

Today Sunday 29th July Palma airport was a joke. We arrived in plenty of time and checked the boards for the check in desks. Having queued for a long time we were told by check in operator that we were at the wrong desk and had to queue for a further length of time at the correct check in desk as did many passengers behind us as the board was wrong! We got through security and proceeded to the gate to be met by massive queues of people at passport control en route. There were thousands of passengers queuing and some even missed their flights as we waited 50 minutes to pass through passport control what a nightmare! To make matters worse the air con was not working and the heat was horrendous. We arrived at the gate with very little time to spare before our flight was called. We proceeded to the desk but the woman who had been there disappeared and we were kept waiting for a further length of time before she eventually reappeared and we were able to board our flight. It has put me off visiting Majorca which is a great pity - Palma is a huge airport and therefore very busy so some drastic changes need to be made to prevent all this chaos!

We had a dreadful experience departing from Palma airport on 16th July 2012. Despite there being 18 Ryanair baggage drop desks only 4 were open. The queues were 40-50 deep at each desk with very slow staff and they were being ridiculously picky when weighing bags (.5 of a kilo over) which was slowing things down even more. It took 50 minutes to check in 1 bag! Never again will we pay for hold luggage. It would be less stressful and cheaper to spend £50 on clothes when we arrive. We also had to show our passports 4 times to different staff. At the gate there was total chaos as 3 gates were next to each other but nobody to direct passengers to the correct doors so 1 queue had all three flights mixed up and everyone was panicking that they were in the wrong queue. The staff were rude and unfriendly. It seemed like that the airport was totally under-staffed. It would be wise to allow at least 2.5 hours to get through at peak times Ie all summer. The terminal is very large and a long way from departures to some gates.

Just returned to Manchester from a wonderful 10 night holiday in Majorca. Whilst we complained to the Thomas Cook rep when we finally arrived in Cala'Dor just how bad the check-in process had been at Manchester Terminal 1 she commented that we should expect much of the same for the return check in at Palma International Airport for the journey home. She couldn't have been more wrong !! It took us a full 2 hours to check in at Manchester but only 14 minutes at Palma - no scowls miserable faces or rudeness.

I've used Palma quite a few times and it's pretty good. Shops are expensive but I suppose that's not their fault. I liked security because it was so quick for such a busy airport. But I was confused when my flight to Edinburgh was boarding next to another flight to Edinburgh as we ended up queuing for the wrong flight. Gate agents were quite frosty. I also applaud air traffic control there as planes arrive and depart much faster than in Edinburgh.

PMI in January is very different from how it is during high season. Vast areas are deserted and many of the outlets are closed. That all made for comparatively painless transits on a long weekend break. We still had long walks as easyJet flights were assigned to the far most end of area C but there were no queues at all for security. The only hold-up was at passport control on arrival: the control booth was beside our arrival gate and although there were two officers on duty they had to share one passport reader between them so it took 20 minutes or so for the passengers on our flight to be processed.

Pretty good airport. A little bit crowded and maybe too big for an island but very easy to navigate. Lots of useful information for passengers wonderful selection of shops/cafeteria. The air conditioning system doesn't always work well.

Found the airport fairly easy to navigate. We hired a car that was picked up and left back at the airport and was done with ease. Signage was generally good and helpful and the range of shops was pretty good with a fair mix in the price range. Only hiccup was on arrival when the sign showed our baggage was to arrive on carousel 3 and it wasn't until a passenger from another flight came down to inform us that our luggage was in fact coming out on 7. No staff noticed or addressed the issue. 20 mins later when our assisted travel companions arrived the helpers brought them to carrousel 3 as even after that time no staff had noticed the error. Apart from this and the lack of a few air conditioners about the terminal not a bad airport.

My wife and I recently returned from a holiday in Majorca and of course had to use Palma de Majorca airport . Our experience in doing so left us feeling ripped off. We were on a Thomas Cook package so the queues to check-in were long and slow moving. When after about 45 mins we got to the check-in desk we were informed by the girl that our luggage was one kilo overweight. Other observations. We bought a sandwich-two rounds of wet bread described as cheese and chicken and filled as we discovered later with some kind of revolting paste. We threw it in the bin at Manchester airport. The cost of this gem? 5.56 euros!! The toilets we used in Palma airport were filthy. Our experience has convinced us that we never want to use Palma airport again. This is a pity since Majorca is such a lovely island.

Clean and pleasant airport - at least during low season. Bus line 1 connects the airport to downtown Palma every 15 mins - reliable service at EUR2.00 one-way travel time to central "Plaza Espanya" around 20 mins. Upon departure check-in was hassle-free - however had to go to the counter as Air Europa does not offer self-service check-in. Short queue at security but very surly staff. Boarding areas provide ample seating and spotlessly clean lavatories. On the downside it is a very long walk from the main building to the boarding piers. Prices for food and drinks are a total rip-off: EUR3.30 for a 50cl Fanta bottle!
