Airport built in famous Scandinavian style. Cost for everything is higher than anywhere else so plan not to eat much. Ground transportation very expensive. Staff are friendly and will help. Avoid this airport if it is not your final destination. That is a logistical nightmare. You will have to take you luggage though customs take a small elevator to the departure level to check your luggage in again. The elevator will not fit a family with luggage so you have to leave your luggage unattended at the lower floor while you take kids up and then return to get luggage.

Pleasant but quirky. Bit of a free-for-all at check-in not at all well-marked. Kiosk did not work with my credit card. I could never figure out how to avoid walking in the rain from the rental car area. Still the architecture is lovely.

On arrival you notice the clear architecture with easy orientation the main corpus belongs to the public area - baggage claims etc and the wings airside are divided easily. The only pity is the absence of a shopping area landside the duty-free shop airside was excellent. Another point is the long way to Oslo city centre which is expensive for foreign citizens to pay.

OSL is my local airport and I use it weekly both private and as a business traveller. I have never had a negative experience travelling to or from OSL. The airport is spacious and clean and has all the facilities I would need. Queues are usually no problem. Its more of a concern during summer and the mayor holidays as the amount of travellers increases to almost double. The Airport Express train is excellent always on time and straight from the terminal to downtown Oslo in 19 mins.

Oslo Airport has really gone done hill this summer. I travel in and out of this airport about twice a month on business. The SAS self check-in terminals have become overloaded by the increase in summer traffic. They're often out of service resulting in a serious bottleneck as travellers line up with big bags. These kiosks are made for business and frequent travellers and seem to confuse many elderly and foreign travellers increasing the delays. I flew two weeks ago and it felt like in was in Heathrow. For travellers in summer 2011 beware that the Airport train (expensive but usually v efficient) won't run past Lillestrom. You have to get out and use a shuttle bus that will drop you somewhere downtown. The Flybus service is cheaper and more reliable. Gardermoen is suffering from an increase in passenger traffic and hasn't kept up. Previously a very good airport it has really gone downhill in 2011.

Modern and pleasant airport. Short ways upon arrival but luggage delivery time can vary. Express train Flytoget connects the airport to Oslo central station every 10 mins - travel time only 19mins but at a premium fare of 200NOK one-way. It is much cheaper to use the hourly NSB regional trains - the 40-minute-trip costs 110NOK. Upon departure no queue at security friendly staff. Boarding gates have great views on the apron but limited seating facilities.

I have flown in and out of Oslo airport twice every year since 2002 and it has never disappointed. Quick check-in security screenings thorough though never irritatingly intrusive. Clean floors and bathrooms. Internet available but not for free. Duty-free shops quite expensive. My complaint about this airport is the cost of getting there. 30USD for a bus-ride or bullet-train from the city center of Oslo? What's worse is the taxi-fare from the same place in Oslo at a whopping 150USD.

A very nice architecture. Open lots of light glass stone and wood used in making the terminal. There is only 1 terminal which is divided in two (domestic/international) wings. Very easy to navigate. The airport looks a bit small especially after security. The main building and check in facilities are pretty good. Nice to see that almost everybody uses the automatic check in machines this most be something which the Norwegians are good at. I even could use my mobile fingertip or card when boarding the plane at the gate very high tech. The airport express train service between the airport and downtown Oslo is just excellent and very efficient. It runs every 10 mins and uses 20 mins to Oslo. The trains are easily located in the terminal building.

A modern efficient airport. A bit like Madrid it helps if you're keen on walking as UK - Norwegian domestics seem to inhabit different ends of a very long building. A bit tedious having to reclaim baggage to do customs clearance on arrival from UK prior to domestic transfer but that said it works reasonably well. Good range of shops - if that's what you want - but you can still see the outside world.

Oslo Airport customer review

Oslo Gardermoen is a wonderful airport. It has been something of a home-away-from-home airport for me and I have always had good experiences there. The security lines are very predictable (usually only 5 minutes) and the airport has a convenient layout with excellent connections to buses and trains.
