Nice Airport

In a part of the world where almost nothing especially customer service works well with one exception it is hard to imagine how the airport could be improved. Security takes almost no time with staff who are invariably pleasant and even like to share a joke which is pretty much unknown elsewhere. Good boulangerie at reasonable prices in both terminals and adequate bright space for waiting. My one complaint is that staff for Easyjet flights at any rate force you to go through to the boarding area long before flight time which in summer can mean standing for 20 minutes in the furnace like heat of the glass tube that takes you to the aircraft. By the way the R Walls from Australia who gives an earlier almost identical opinion is not me! The miseries who staff American airports could certainly learn from Nice Cote D'Azur.

Overall this airport is not too shabby. It is generally clean (especially terminal T2 terminal T1 could use a little sweep up at times) the facilities are basic but quite modern the shopping experience is average and the bus connections between the terminals are okay The only complaints I have are regarding the staff's terrible grasp of foreign languages (despite the massive amounts of international visitors that pass through here) their overall lack of sympathy and politeness and the dismal parking options.

I travelled out of Nice Airport on Sunday 1 July on flight EZY5068 to Gatwick at 15.25 - well that was when we were meant to fly. We were called to board in the departure lounge at 14.55 and then we made to stand until 16.20 until we were allowed onto the flight. There were two staff standing there who were to check our boarding cards but neither made any attempt to inform us why our plane was delayed and the reason for the hold-up. disgraceful customer service by the airport unless you blame the airline - Easyjet!

Used it for arrival and departure. Overall fast efficient and nice but some officials lack English skills that makes simple things difficult. Bag on belt in 10 mins on arrival no queue at passport control or security on departure. Immigration on arrival consisted of two lines: fast and slow. I was clearing immigration and the total wait time at the "fast" lane was around 10 mins. On departure the lounge is so small. These all refer to T1. Have never used T2. We were bussed from and to airplanes. Overall satisfactory experience.

Amazed there is no lounge for Star Alliance Gold Card holders in Nice Airport. The Salon Azul Schengen lounge (T1) only admits LH cardholders on LH flights SAS cards on SAS flights etc and refuses access to other Star Alliance gold cardholders - directly contravening the contract lounge access policy stated on the Star Alliance website. Facilities in terminal were limited; with only one snack bar and little seating - very inconvenient for business travellers. No fast track lane is available through security controls either.

ORY-NCE arrival in T2. The terminal is modern bright and airy. Short walks from the gates to the baggage area. Two bus lines connect the airport with Nice: one to the train station one to the port via Place Masséna - both cost EUR4.00 but be careful to ask for a 1-day-pass as it costs exactly the same as a one-way ticket! Travel time around 30 min but may take up to 55 min at peak hours. Upon departure check-in hassle-free using self-service kiosks. No wait at security staff polite but not overly friendly. On the downside toilets located in hidden corners and not very clean.

Nice Côte d'Azur In Nice again for arrival and departure. It's overall fine facility consistently good and clean. Two letdowns are airside eateries and Tax refund concession. Slow service at both places. Not the airport's fault but things to take care of. Baggage handling was fast enough on arrival. Check in agents not very fast but polite and competent. Self check in machines didn't work.

Arrived late at Nice (0030) due to BA flight delay. Despite the time of the day the airport is efficient as usual. Once I was out of the plane I was at the passport control in 3 minutes and the passport check was efficient. And another 2-3 minutes I was at the luggage reclaim and the luggage were already waiting on the belt. Never have to wait to long at this airy airport. Excellent

This airport is surprisingly nice and pleasant in every aspect. Bright and airy (both terminals) nice check in agents nice and polite security staff and immigration. Passenger volumes are quite big but the facility perfectly handles them. Good eateries landside plenty of seats airside reasonable duty free selection great connection to the city picturesque and impressive landscape (palm trees on the apron!!) and runway by the sea. Good ventilation clean toilets working elevators and escalators and overall peaceful and relaxing ambience.

The shining star of the South of France where pretty much everything is grotesquely inefficient but the airport is as good as it gets. Everything works security is a dream with rarely a queue and charming staff who enjoy a joke. Every airport in the US should be required to bring their staff here to show how it can be done.
