Mumbai Airport

Very poor infrastructure They don't even have basic things like proper charging points and seating arrangements. It is very common to see people lying around for lack of space and seating arrangements. It is filled with mosquitoes. Staff behaviour is horrible they don't have basic manners. Cleanliness is pathetic. Its the opposite of what Dubai airport is.

Mumbai airport is a blot among the International Airports. Where can I begin well everything seems to be in disarray. Queue time toilets and cleanliness are pathetic. International-to-domestic bus carrier is pitiable and unpredictable - we missed our connecting flight to New Delhi. There are no decent food outlets nor a mobile SIM card seller. Immigration and customs officials are pretty rude and demanding towards returning/visiting Indians. Baggage staff keep pestering for money. There is no single thing that can be praised.

The airport needs a lot of work. Many features are grossly substandard. Huge queues at check-in security and customs. Customs officers are impolite. Restrooms are not clean enough. Duty free is very basic. Food facilities have improved a lot recently.

Airport infrastructure is average. Queue management at immigration needs to be addressed. Indian crowd at baggage conveyor belts needs to be ashamed of themselves - no courtesy probably this is the general attitude in India. Even though the baggage has already been screened by customs before arriving on the conveyor belts baggage has to be put through X-ray machines again by passengers after picking the bags from the conveyor belts before exiting the airport (little or no help by airport staff putting the baggage on the X-ray machine belts).

Significant progress has been made over the years improve the appearance and facilities. Food options are decent although a little pricey. Baggage handling needs significant upgrade. customs folks do not "harass" travelers as they used to before. Airport access needs improvement. Too crowded during drop off. Traffic needs to be regulated. Immigration can be hit or miss depending on the number of flights. Need more runways. They are a bottleneck and usually cause delays. Toilets need improvement with respect to cleanliness and functioning fixtures. Need more public phones and phones that accept credit cards to make phone calls over the world.

I really don't understand why everyone is criticizing Mumbai airport. The airport is being rebuilt and many things are not perfect as a result. Yes there are long line ups to get into the airport - this is Indian policy for security. Yes luggage is checked many times - again this is Indian policy for security. Yes the airport is congested - that's why they are building a better and bigger terminal. I have recently been through Mumbai and I actually understood these issues. People should be more patient and understanding!

Airport itself is not bad. It is neither dirty nor clean. What makes me cringe at this airport is the apathy and indifference everyone shows to everyone. I wish I did not have to fly again through this airport.

Not bad. Quite a 'to the point' airport. The airport has improved a lot since what it was in the 80s + 90s and earlier. Duty free prices in USD. Immigration queues are usually quick moving.

Can only repeat comments of previous contributors. Flew out of BOM to BKK 2 weeks ago; check in acceptable security not with changing rules as we queued - ladies separate - or not. Transferring from BKK to LHR on return a nightmare - long queues for pointless hand baggage security and frisk - no order whatever - queues redirected then abandoned. Further checks at the gate - was hand luggage stamped? Three separate security checks at the gate. Boarding by row number started then abandoned -completely pointless rude and tedious security queuing which missed -we realised later - items in hand luggage they should have picked up. On top of that facilities very limited and the place smells of damp. To be avoided if possible.

I regularly travel via BOM. The domestic terminal is pleasant easy to use and convenient. Usually no queues except during rush hour. The international terminal has improved quite a lot on the inside with lots of shopping and eating facilities. However access has not. There was an insanely long queue just to get inside the terminal. I guess what people don't know is that you can use any of the doors. Most people queued at the entrance next to their airline apparently for hours just to get by security who checks every passport and boarding pass at snail's pace. I usually ask to be dropped at the very first door where there is hardly anyone. Once inside it was OK. Wait time at security maybe 15 mins which was not too bad for the busiest time of the day.
