"whole experience was just terrible"

Not Verified | Going into the airport it was large in size and very hard to navigate. unlike most airports it had no signs, escalators, and when you asked where to go you got very vague answers that told you nothing! Not only that, but most of the staff were rude and unenthusiastic. My worst experience came from security, disclaimer I fully understand that security’s job requires them to be blunt and harsh at times, but this crossed a line for me. They where looking through my daughters bag, in it she had a small bag of shells that her and her dad had fun collecting. She was very proud of her collection and couldn’t wait to take it home. They where pulling her shells out and looking at them closely. I could tell that my daughter was getting nervous. She has a fear of security already. They pulled a man over and started talking to him about the shells, they turned to my husband and started explaining that the shells might have been from “endangered” creatures. They were not, the ones that they where looking at where oyster shells. To make a long story short my daughter burst into tears and her dad was doing everything he could to get them back, but sadly they wouldn’t budge. At this point I was crying. We went home with no shells and a lot of tears. The whole experience was just terrible. However if you find yourself unavoidably in this airport go to the shop MiniSo. It made our time there a little bit better!

"far too small to handle the number of passengers that use it"

Trip Verified | The departure wing of Hall F (primarily serving flights by United, American and Avianca) is cramped and chaotic. It is far too small to handle the number of passengers that use it, especially in the afternoon. The restaurants are overpriced, and the food is of poor quality. Seating is limited, so many passengers are forced to stand. The hall is hot and boarding lines are long.

"My worst experience with Volaris and Mexico City airport"

Not Verified | My worst experience with Volaris and Mexico City airport. I arrived at Mexico City at 3pm from Denver Colorado and my next connecting flight was to Guadalajara at 6.35pm, I missed my flight due to my checked bag being released at 5.50 pm and then security decided inspect my bag when I had already informed them my other flight was boarding. They are un organized, no one there to help and the worst thing is that I think Volaris does that on purpose so we can miss our flight and they can charge people for another flight.

"departure was a real nightmare"

Not Verified | Our arrival at this airport was great, but our departure was a real nightmare. We spent over an hour trying to find the rental care return. There was a grant total of one sign for rental car return and we could not locate it! We ended up driving around for literally over an hour and asking three different airport employees at different locations (none of whom spoke any English). We finally found the location pretty much by chance. At this point we had wasted so much time! The next problem was that we didn't realize the gate closed an hour before we boarded, so we weren't allowed to board and missed our flight! We had to pay $3,800 for 4 more new tickets! I am not exaggerating! Next, we were told we had to have our immigration forms we filled out at the beginning of our trip. We remembered completing them but no one told us to keep them (again, no one speaks English in this part of the country). Apparently we now had to go stand in another line for an hour and pay another $30 per person and fill out a lot of paperwork to get replacement customs paperwork. Would have been nice if someone had mentioned the fine print on the back of the form. No wonder the line is so long - no one knows to keep the form or else they can't leave the country. Next, the new flight we had to purchase was delayed until the next morning!!! Yep, thanks Mexico City International Airport.

"full-on lack of respect"

Trip Verified | This was the worst international airport experience I’ve had. From waiting on the plane without moving for 45 minutes after our arrival to having to disembark only to get on a bus to be ferried to the terminal. Those pieces were simply inconveniences though. The piece that was so aggravating to see was, after the same shuttling of passengers, their system is wholly inaccessible for people with disabilities and it’s very consequential. It’s so saddening that in 2022 a world airport in a world city still can’t ensure people with disabilities have equal access and are not humiliated by the process of being literally carried up the stairs to the plane on the runway because the airport isn’t sophisticated enough to either dock at a gate or have a lift that provides accessibility. I can tolerate the inconveniences but this was full-on lack of respect, consideration, and thoroughness of checking the passenger report and seeing people with accessibility needs. The worst thing was that the family needing help felt guilty instead of the system really at fault, which is the Mexico City Intl Airport.

"Horrible, horrible experience at this airport"

Trip Verified | This is the second time I have a connection flight in this airport. Staff are rude and not helpful. When trying to find my way to my gate I asked multiple staff and they guided me towards an exit, leaving me to have to go through security again. The gate information is posted very late and gates are spread apart, a lot of walking, in a short amount of time. There was no staff around to ask! Had a horrible experience with Volaris especially. They did not validate my covid test when making a connection flight, made me go get tested again only to find out the original covid test was fine. I went through security again only to have the Volaris representative be rude and give me attitude and a say, I’ll let you board if I feel like it, for now wait until the end. I asked for their names and they gave me fake ones and when I pointed it out they said don’t you know how to read? This is the 23rd country I visit but this is the worst airport ever. Horrible, horrible experience at this airport. Avoid at all costs.

"Large groups of workers stand around and do nothing"

Trip Verified | Avoid this airport at all costs. Terrible layout, insufficient gates mean disembarking on the ramp in the rain. LCD screens with flight information provide 10x more commercials than actual flight information such as gates, times, airlines etc. Labeling for passenger navigation was totally useless. Information booths exist, but workers have no information and talked thru a closed window. Large groups of workers stand around and do nothing most of the day. 10x as many workers at this airport to perform the same work for 1 worker in USA airport. I hate this airport. Lighting is blinding LED's that burns holes in your retinas. Departure level is very large and allows drops offs with minimal delays. Arrival level is not so friendly. Mostly intended for taxi's. Taxi lines are 10-20 minutes long. Many food options available with reasonable prices. Rat mazes are required even if you are the only one in the entire airport. Biggest complaint is the flight board. They are multi LCD color displays made extremely large. But you might have to view 2 minutes of commercials before you get to see the flight status board. Crazy that any airport could possible mix flight information with commercials for banks, cars, and other high end consumer goods.

"not providing WiFi throughout the airport"

Trip Verified | In order to produce evidence of my required to travel Covid-19 PCR test I required WiFi to access my email. I asked three airport employees for help, all told me Sala F had no WiFi and that I had to return to a major junction point in the airport quite a ways from where I was. I had little time. I requested a supervisor, who allowed me to use their mobile phone as a hotspot to get the required document. This took <1 minute. I later learned that policy at this airport is to forbid this! I strongly object to the airport not providing WiFi throughout the airport. Airport employees were not able to suggest to me a course of action when I asked. If you want the flying public to be respectful and calm than do better Mexico City airport, this was unacceptable and nerve racking.

"it was a really awful experience"

Trip Verified | As a frequent traveler I have seen lots of airports all over the world but at Mexico City airport the handling is one of the worst I have ever got to know in 25 years of plenty of airports. If you can avoid this airport do that! Rows of people in baggage drop-off that are handled very chaotically. You have to wait meanwhile behind you they open ad-hoc another row so people that are waiting for much longer are left empty-handed. Very confusing are the plenty of various signs that are even contradictious between themselves sometimes (I noticed concerning domestic/intl. distinguish and at the way to arrive at security check). I mean on the too small screens it even wasn't always clear which planes are starting from which terminal (1 or 2). Low-cost aviation companies are doing their check-in on terminal 1 even if the (in my case domestic) departure is from terminal 2 then. This means long walking distance without any helping facilities (for example missing or not working escalators, imagine what a nightmare for a disabled or elder person). But the worst in my case came with the security check. The company that is engaged at the domestic departures section should be brought for a trial to court for their rude behavior towards passengers. The officers on duty this day didn't react to my continuous asking why they were rummaging through my complete hand luggage. At the beginning I really tried to be polite and helpful in what they are searching for. But no reaction at all, so continue making a big mess without finding anything prohibited. At the end they almost made me miss my flight. All in all for an international traveler coming to Mexico City airport for the first time it was a really awful experience.

"The airport is OK"

Trip Verified | The airport is OK except for the fact that if you are in transit and once you go through security, although there are signs for the gates numbers there are none in which direction to go for the main part of the airport, the restaurant or lounges.
