"airport is old and shabby"
Harold Bush-Howard (United Kingdom)
This airport is old and shabby. Immigration is slow and officers are rather indifferent. They seemed to have been trained by US officers. Baggage was our fairly fast but then we had to join a queue for customs, where if you are unlucky after punching a button you will be asked to put your luggage through the X-Ray machine followed by a manual check (I do not see the point of both). Immediately after leaving the customs area all trolleys must be abandoned and if you cannot carry your suitcases without one you will have to hire a porter. We did not understand this rather idiotic rule and a porter stopped us but because we insisted on continuing with our bags he summoned the police. A frightening experience after one has just arrived into a country. Very filthy toilets in arrival halls.

"could be more efficient"
Jorge Gomez (Mexico)
At security the staff were rude and the lines are long - they don't seem to care about the customer service. All of the restrooms are dirty and in poor condition. Many flights seem to be delayed. Always long lines for boarding flights - a lot of the procedures could be more efficient.

"airport is extremely cold"
Alexandre Roriz (Brazil)
I don't recommend this terrible airport. No places to wait. Had a 12 hour layover and didn't want to pay 180 US$ on a hotel, tried to find a place to sleep and couldn't. The airport is extremely cold. You are not allowed to lay down on the floor to sleep while you wait and there are zero decent places to stay, unless you are a VIP Lounge user. I hope I don't have to go there again.

"chaotic, dirty and unpleasant"
Miguel Salcedo-Gomez (United States)
The worst airport experience I've had. Avoid using this "airport" unless there are no other choices left. Terminal 2, which is said to be brand new, is chaotic, dirty and unpleasant. It's inconceivable that what is regarded as a major airport in LatAm doesn't even have decent toilets. The latter are the filthiest I've ever seen and using them (if you find them) is putting your health at risk. Immigration takes a lifetime, then passengers are required to pickup luggage and go through X-Ray screening before meeting the customs office. They'll confiscate what their poor judgment dictates even if you are transiting the country. Baggage must be taken to a "connection" area which is also crowded, dirty, primitive and poorly lit. The worst has yet to come: going through the security filters again and desk with the rudest people I've met. This airport is a shame. LatAm has better airports than this.

"food options were limited"
Juan Carlos Navarro (Mexico)
Terminal 2 counters were extremely slow to process check-in/baggagge. The Immigration staff were insufficient for locals and foreigners. The baggagge claim carousel was very slow, and the restrooms at the airport dirty. Food options were limited. The Banamex Beyond Lounge was great.

" a horrible experience"
Omar Reyes (Mexico)
Mexico City Airport has became in a horrible experience to catch a plane, make a connection, etc. This airport is small with a not very good terminal signs and direction, a little dirty. The carousel and the space to pick up your luggage it's not enough any more. You will need more time to wait for it, to come throught it... The runways are not enough, easily you can spend a lot of time inside the plane waiting clearance for take off.

"misinformation on screens"
Marius Abramczuk (United Kingdom)
The airport staff are unpleasant, unfriendly, unhelpful and misinformed! There is a chaos there due to the misinformation on the screens, lack of proper and visible signs and useless staff that often doesn't speak English. I missed my flight because of that.

"Lack of personnel, space and equipment"
Leonardo Zepeda (Mexico)
Mexico City Airport is overcrowded. Lack of personnel, space and equipment. Inneficient Logistics and organization. Incorrect, imprecise and non opportunistic communication to passengers. Some gates are subutilized while others seems like subway station. Gate 75 is used for all local flights gathering hundreds of people in a limited and non functional rom with no direct access to planes. To take passengers to and from planes, the airline has to move people on buses often with enforcing passengers to fit uncomfortably in overcrowded buses. Waiting times to board and unboard are untolerable in lenght and frequency.

Mexico City Airport customer review
Jose Luis Heredia (Mexico)
During the last 30 days, I had to use Mexico City's Airport (Terminal 2) 10 times. This terminal is basically used by Aeromexico (80%) and some foreign airlines. Other Mexican airlines use Terminal 1 (the oldest one). Though this building is new, it's insufficient for its traffic. If you're travelling abroad, maybe you'll be lucky enough to have a gate for your flight. If not, you'll get Gate 75, which isn't actually a gate and hosts 4 or 5 flights at the same time. You'll find around 20 or 30 seats (for 5 flights) and will wait to be directed to a second gate downstairs. After waiting you'll be conducted to an aerocar, a small, uncomfortable bus that will drive you to your plane. This process will take you 30 to 40 minutes, if the day is not a rainy one. If you can use one of Mexico's alternative airports (Monterrey or Guadalajara) use any of them. They are smaller, but their service is something else.

"such long lines"
Jeff Strunk (Chile)
I had a layover in MEX between SCL and SFO and back. International transits are required to go through immigration and customs. There were so few immigration officials and such long lines. It took over 30 minutes for immigration. That seemed to keep the customs lines short, though. The food was good.
