"simply lacks basic facilities"

I was there at 1 am to catch a flight to Istanbul. It wasn't crowded but the airport simply lacks basic facilities which appear to be a problem when it gets crowded. Very few shops after the passport control were open and there weren't any restaurants at the International terminal (or I didn't find one open). The airport is clean. The passport control is fast, but the security guards are not very friendly. Actually if you have to travel to Mashhad, its not that bad. Even comparing to the airport in the capital city (Tehran), it is so-so.

Mashhad Airport customer review

I was in the airport international terminal around 1 am. International terminal is quite newly built and not completed. No food or snack or shop available. Passport control fast and efficient. Not enough seats after passport control. Check in area is very crowded when there are two three flights. It is better to be at airport at least 2 hrs before departure time. Normally you do not need more than 30 min from the city to airport but in some seasons and for some events it may take more than an hour so check with hotel reception not to miss the flight.
