"Avoid at all cost"

(Australia)

Not Verified | A few hours before landing the government decided to change the rules. No transit passengers are allowed to clear immigration and enter the country. The airline staff are extremely rude and don’t want to help. We are stuck in a room with some very uncomfortable chairs which is called their transit lounge. We are rationed the number of blankets we can use (1 per person) even if the AC is on high and it’s freezing. Felt like a prisoner. If you have any dietary restrictions (I am a vegetarian) I have 1 option a veg pizza (a slice of baguette with cheese mushroom and peppers). Avoid Philippine Airlines and Manila airport at all cost.

"airport is such a disgrace to the Philippines"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | This airport is such a disgrace to the Philippines. Immigration officers are so ignorant, clueless, and rude. They don't know what they're doing and all they care about is how they make you feel like they are above you, they are such an embarrassment. If you ever think of flying to the Philippines, I would recommend you fly to Mactan International Airport in Cebu where the service is far better than NAIA. Considering NAIA is the point of entry of travellers entering the Capital City, they just don't know what they're doing. A lot of stupidity happening here.

Manila Airport customer review

(United States)

I have flown in and out of all 4 terminals in the last 6.5 months and it is one of the worst airports I have even been in. Terminal 1 - Korean and Asiana probably the smoothest terminal to go in and out of although the line to check in can take forever. Terminal 2- the most disappointing as this is PAL's international terminal. The WiFi is horrible the air conditioning barely acceptable and the taxi area getting in and out is crowded. Limited bathrooms in the departure area. Terminal 3 - Cebu Pacific this was bad as well when we departed there was no jetway normal in a lot places but in a thunderstorm not fun. Cebu gave us umbrellas which was nice but water everywhere. On return it took forever to get our baggage. Terminal 4 - all I can say is I've been in bus stations that are better than T4. There is no good way to get between terminals if you need to so I would advise against booking flights on multiple carriers making connection in Manila. The traffic and absolute unorganized chaos that is NAIA makes you want to pull your hair out.

Manila Airport customer review

(Indonesia)

Manila airport has been nominated one of the world's worst airport however no work whatsoever is being done the big question is why? Airport will kick you back to the 70s when its probably new and modern at it times but today its just terrible. It is probably one of the most dirtiest airports in the world overcrowded chaotic and just plain uncomfortable. The coffee shops sells terrible coffee and food so I wouldn't recommend anyone to eat at the airport its best to eat before you wait there. Queues at the airport takes lots of time and the immigration is rather inefficient and very slow even worse than overcrowded provincial airports in Indonesia. The toilets are utterly disgusting and need a deep cleaning it smells funny there seating are not enough.

Manila Airport customer review

(Hong Kong)

New PAL terminal is ok and I would fly PAL to Manilla for this reason. Old terminal is awful - crowded chaotic and dirty. Really hard getting a taxi - try and get hotel to sort out one for you. ATM (only 1 on arriva) out of order. Cebu on other hand is small but much better.

Manila Airport customer review

(United States)

Arrived March 31st and was out of the terminal quickly. Waiting area for arriving passengers to meet relatives/friends to pick up passengers very crowded and chaotic. Departure lines start outside the old International Terminal but lines moved quickly. Uniformed guards directed passengers and did not ask for bribes. Luggage x-rayed upon entering the terminal. Then passengers proceeded to their respective airlines to check in.

"T2 has deteriorated over the years"

(Philippines)

This review is specific to Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 which has deteriorated over the years. Despite improvements in other terminals, T2 was left behind. There's poor airconditioning and can be very stuffy during peak hours. Toilets are too cramped, dirty and very few. Sad to see long queue especially for women passengers. Food choices are very limited; at least 3 stalls selling almost the same poor quality yet expensive food. Seats are uncomfortable, cheap looking and make you feel like one is in a bus terminal and not in a country's premiere airport. Very poor noise control at the boarding area with frequent flight announcements heard everywhere. Very poor signages. For example there are two areas for immigration located at both ends of the terminal. There's one each for Filipinos and Foreigners, but there are no signs to direct passengers.

"By far the worst airport"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | By far the worst airport I've ever been to. Poorest customer service, extremely outdated, terrible restaurants, cash only food stores in international terminal but there is only 1 ATM inside and it was turned off. Duty free is ridiculously overpriced and clearly has duty added to price. Only positive is the bathrooms were clean! Will avoid this airport at any cost!

"queues are long and disorganised"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | Worst airport I have ever travelled through - even travelling business class it took 2 hours to get from where the taxi dropped me and through check-in, immigration and security. The queues are long and disorganised and people are stressed worrying about missing flights. THe airport is far too small to cope with the number of passengers. The staff are rude and the facilities are sub par. A shame as the Philippines needs tourism and that airport makes me never ever want to return.

"Tried it's best to ruin my trip"

(Canada)

Not Verified | Tried it's best to ruin my trip home. Was traveling from Iloilo through Manila to Vancouver. The Manila airport caused a nearly 2.5-hour delay for the plane to go from Iloilo to Manila. First, the plane was about an hour late leaving Manila, then had to wait over an hour extra in Iloilo for a landing slot in Manila. This delay then resulted in my missing my Vancouver flight. The PAL staff found another flight through San Francisco that would get me home the same day. Rush through immigration, security and security to finally wait at the gate. Everything looks good, board the plane on time. Sit on the plane for close to 1.5 hours before finally getting to take off. Due to this delay, PAL decided to change the SFO to YVR flight to the next morning. Seriously do not attempt to transit through this airport without at least 6 hours of layover. The airport will do it's very best to ruin your trip. This airport has many other problems. It is split into multiple terminal buildings. In a proper airport, the airport would offer frequent shuttle service between terminals. At MNL, the airlines have to offer the shuttles and they are far less frequent. The shuttles have to use public roads to get between terminals. Going from terminal 1 to terminal 2 even involves a U-turn to get to the departures level. The cellphone carriers in PH are even worse than in Canada. They will only offer wifi if you have a PH phone number, and even then it is only for a limited period of time. The airport security is lacking, so for major international flights, the airlines have to perform a proper security check. After going through the final security check at the gate, you would need to leave and go through it again if you need to use the washroom or buy something. Other things that are severely lacking, are the food choices near the gates, the lack of places to charge devices, the difficulty buying anything without Philippine money and staff that are in no hurry for anything. When arriving in terminal 1 from another country, you need to go through immigration. The line was very long and chaotic. The staff tried to treat all lines as equal. Most lines had two people working and one line only had one person working. There was no effort to balance this out. This airport feels like they saw airports in movies and then used that information to build MNL. I would be shocked if they studied any other airports before designing this one.
