"Everything is disorganized"

(Philippines)

Trip Verified | Very chaotic. Everything is disorganized and there are lots of people in every check in counter. Some people just jump in line and how can the airport staffs just ignored such bad manner? Everyone was angry for waiting for so long and the staffs there did not do anything about it. How can you serve the international tourists if you can't even serve the local people well? Disappointing airport.

"airport is such a disgrace to the Philippines"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | This airport is such a disgrace to the Philippines. Immigration officers are so ignorant, clueless, and rude. They don't know what they're doing and all they care about is how they make you feel like they are above you, they are such an embarrassment. If you ever think of flying to the Philippines, I would recommend you fly to Mactan International Airport in Cebu where the service is far better than NAIA. Considering NAIA is the point of entry of travellers entering the Capital City, they just don't know what they're doing. A lot of stupidity happening here.

"worst airport I have been to"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | Terrible and long queues, cramped and very small, poor signage, lacking in shops and amenities, no WIFI, disorganized staff. . You have to arrive 6 hours in advance because of the long-line-ups or you will miss your flight. You need a Philippine number to obtain WIFI. After passing through immigration, we had to queue again for security check and that queue got broken due to the inefficiency of the staff. I am really disappointed as nothing much has changed in 30+ years. WE travel to the Philippines to visit my family. For next time, I won't bring my wife and kids to the Philippines. I will suffer alone instead. This is the worst airport I have been to.

"This is the worst airport"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | This is the worst airport I’ve ever experienced. Terrible amenities, untrained and careless staff, no clear process for any part of transit. My first flight had a 17 hour layover after half a dozen delays and reschedules from Philippines Airlines. On arrival in Manila you’re put in a tiny room after having boarding pass and passport confiscated at the door. There are anywhere from 15-50 other people in the room with no food, water or windows, and 5 chairs to sleep in. The terminal has a variety of low quality food stalls but be prepared to go through security every time you want to leave and re-enter the transit lounge, despite being about 20 metres apart. The second flight was, thankfully, a short layover; however with about 25 minutes between arriving at the terminal and needing to board the connecting flight staff apparently needed us to go downstairs from the gates, go into another tiny room filled with bags to the point of barely being able to move, open up checked luggage for a bag check before finally being able to go back through two security screens and to the gate. I’ve never experienced anything like this for a connecting flight before. I would rather pay twice as much for flights in the future than come back to Manila airport.

"Disaster of an airport"

(Malaysia)

Trip Verified | Disaster of an airport. I have never experienced such airport where your have no real amenities to wait and F&B options are at best basic. I regret coming here on time as I’m stuck with waiting for two hours at the gate with nothing to do. Seriously, Philippine government should rethink their infrastructure here and improve amenities.

"there were long lines"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | Arrived at Philippine Airlines dedicated Terminal 2, after coming off the aircraft you can see that the airport is small. Arriving on December, there were long lines most especially at the immigration counter, very frustrating if you hold a foreign passport. Hopefully once the New Manila Airport is built they will move there.

"Avoid transit here"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | Avoid transit here at all costs. If changing terminals for either a US or Australian connection, the process is horrific and you need to claim your bags and have them checked before proceeding. We saw so many other passengers just looking dazed and confused and angry - the whole thing is a terrible experience. They do most things by hand and are terribly meticulous about numbers - this is not a bad thing, but its 2023 not 1985! They've also lost a piece of our luggage too, here's a form to fill out.

"A true national disgrace"

(Australia)

Not Verified | Poorly trained personnel, inadequate signage, inadequate lighting, inadequate public transport including taxis. A recent power outage, including the backup generator, is indicative of the woefully (and dangerous) mismanagement of this place. In essence, the airport is a dump perhaps beyond repair and ready for the bulldozer. Amongst other SE and NE Asian neighbours, this place ranks at the very bottom and should be reconsidered from top to bottom. A true national disgrace.

"They promptly took my passport from me"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | Upon disembarking my plane, I followed the signs to international transit. Here, a small room with broken plastic chairs, were 100-200 transit passengers. I saw no signage, so I asked for help from the first employee I saw. They promptly took my passport from me and would not allow me to have it back. I asked time and time again to know where it was and when it would be returned. "This is the customs process", they assured me. Unbelievable. At some point they began calling names one by one, where we were directed to a smaller, darker room where our checked bags went through manual security inspection. Eventually, a woman came into the room with a bag filled with passports and began handing them around. Mine was nowhere to be found. One group circulated through, then another, still no passport. I was eventually told to get onto a bus, I presumed to another terminal, but I still did not have my passport. By now it had been 5 hours. After some arguing with airport staff, my passport was returned to me. When we made it to the next terminal, we sat on the bus idly for another 30 minutes, then shoved our way through another security checkpoint into a terminal crammed with thousands of passengers. Like sardines. We lined up yet again, making our way through yes, another security checkpoint, and finally I made it to my gate. There was nowhere to sit, even standing room was dismal. All food locations were closed, I had no choice but to wait for my plane to board. When I finally made it onto the plane, I cried tears of joy to have made it out of this godforsaken place. A week later, I experienced wire fraud worth thousands of USD where someone used a photo ID of my passport along with the card I used to make the booking. Perhaps a coincidence? Regardless, there was no way I was flying back through MNL. As the airline was not willing to issue me a refund, I simply had to take the loss, but it was well worth it to take a more expensive direct flight.

"What a disaster"

(United States)

Trip Verified | What a disaster, the screening processes is a mess. Unlike most airports you can not take water you brought in the airport on to the plane. So when you have to take time sensitive medication or are thirsty and you can't get the attention, too bad for you.
