I have started to use this airport using Easyjet to European short haul destinations. So far the experience has been ok with only one delay due to snow. The airport appears to be tying to improve with new shops and eating outlets. Some of the building is still tired however and its bus and or walk to the A/C. They do have a new lounge airside which is staffed by Servisair which views out on to concourse and supplies the normal drinks and light snacks. You get free WIFI but there are no longer any terminals if you do not carry your own electronic device. Returns have been a little mixed with some delays with bags although have found this to be airline issue on 2 occasions. Overall a good LOCO base but they have stiff competition from Manchester just down the road.

I've always considered it to be a good airport that is until my recent trip. New security is very speedy however staff can only be described as rude and surly at best. Barking orders at passengers giving conflicting directions depending of your queue throwing trays. The food in their new 'quality' Estuary Restaurant can only be described with one word - foul. The real let down was in arrivals. We landed at 9.30pm and didn't pass through customs and into the arrival hall until after 11pm. Buses on landing no ground crew to attach the steps. 55 minutes to get through passport control before collecting our bags. I've always liked Liverpool before but now we're back to Manchester even if it does cost more.

As regular users of LPL my wife and I still consider it our preferred airport of departure. We have no complaints about security: the queues were slightly longer last week but we were still processed quickly and politely. We had the usual long walk to passport control on our return but for once there was no hold-up in the passport hall itself.

Servisair staff were rude and aggressive and shouting at passengers I think a couple thought they were herding cattle. Waiting until people had queued to the x-ray machines and then sending them back to buy smaller bags from a machine for their liquids this was all done loudly and aggressively. I have just arrived back from using Gatwick Airport and the difference in the airport experiences was amazing - Gatwick was a pleasant event from entering the airport check-in security (free plastic bags) and even dining and shopping with staff who were pleasant and courteous. I would use Liverpool Airport again as it is so close to my home but I would never recommend it to anyone from outside the area.

I haven't flown through Liverpool in a few years and the airport has definitely made improvements. I still get the impression this is a "low cost" airport overall but you get what you pay for and we had incredibly cheap flights with Easyjet. On the plus side the terminal has drastically improved with a good range of places to eat and shop. Security has improved. On the negative side the airport still lacks jetways so if the weather isn't great you will get wet. The general boarding process is a shambles and gates areas are very cramped run down with tatty walls and carpets and a "cattle truck" feel to them. Anyone flying through LPL with Easyjet should not waste money on so-called "Speedy Boarding" since there are no jetways and it's basically a free for all to board. So long as Easyjet continues to undercut other carriers I will use this airport again but otherwise I would probably prefer to give it a miss.

We fly regularly to Barcelona with three young children. The experience tends to be unpleasant but flights are cheap so we return here. Passport control on return takes a very long time. Queues are disorganised two queues for passport control arrivals which merge causing chaos. The one on ground level starts outside the building and if there is a long delay you wait outside in the cold for some time. The other queue entails walking up the stairs then a long walk and downstairs where the queue merges with the other one. I have waited in this queue several times for 30-45 mins. Security in departures is now much faster after the recent changes. This week security staff were pleasant. I preferred this airport before they made the reforms several years ago.

Same day return to AMS on EZ. Departure largely stress-free (I had checked in online). Queue at security at 6.30 am very short security check dealt with in under 5 minutes. Security is on the first floor and departure gates on the ground floor so it's up to security from the departures hall and down again to the gates. Could be better. On time boarding. Returning the same evening at around 9 pm we used a bus for the transfer from a/c to terminal which means upon entering the terminal building you need to climb a flight of stairs then walk a substantial distance before having to walk down a flight of stairs to the ground floor again (i.e. the same level you had originally entered the building - not very smart). Immigration reasonably swift. No queues at machines for paying the car parking fee. In summary quite swift passenger movement but too many changes of levels involved.

Use this Airport most weeks for over 2 years now. Having read all of the reviews I can pretty much agree with all of the negative comments. The security staff are generally quite rude and always seem to be standing about not doing much. Even when the airport is quiet there still seems to be queues for security and if my bag goes down the separate channel for inspection it usually takes over 5 minutes before somebody comes over and takes the bag for a check. The departures lounge looks tired and even with the new restaurant and shops it is still not that great. One of the biggest benefits was the season ticket parking which was available. It was a good price and in my opinion value for money. No surprise then that this has now been stopped and I have to go through the tedious booking of car parking every week when I use the airport. From January I will be using Manchester Airport. A shame really as Liverpool Airport could be good if the management thought about the passengers who use the airport rather than the profit!

I took great exception to being told (somewhat rudely) that the plastic bag that I had used for my liquids was the wrong size and that I would have to get a new one for 50p. The new bags immediately got a hole in them so I returned them to the original bags and had no problems at either AMS or CDG. Airport would be fine if they cleaned it better and revamped the arrivals area. The amount of levels to manoeuvre and climbing up and down seems excessive but this is a basic design flaw and I doubt could be resolved. Most airports have departures on one level and arrivals on the other. Overall its OK and serves its purpose.

Easy passage through airport on outward journey: first flight of the morning out and security was quiet and efficient. Almost as easy on return as no other flights arrived around the same time so we were quickly through passport control for the first time in a while. The only hitch was that we had to wait on the plane for several minutes as someone forgot to send the transfer buses then when we transferred by bus to the terminal we were still deposited at the far arrivals entrance and so had the long walk to passport control.
