"the worst airport in Europe if not the world"

Trip Verified | Unquestionably the worst airport in Europe if not the world. It's footprint is small, arguably too small for the traffic that flows through the airport. But even worse the infrastructure is absolutely terrible. Even during the pandemic, with considerably less travelers than normal, it's a miserable place to go through. 75% of the flights are boarded via buses to take you to the plane and there is zero consideration for social distancing during the pandemic. Signage within the airport is confusing at best, inaccurate at times and non-existent at other times. Baggage handling is absolutely atrocious and on a good day you'll wait an hour for your bags and if you have to go to one of the offices to make a claim good luck with that as the queues are absurd and slow and the people are not helpful or friendly. Regrettably the worst thing about this airport is none of the above but rather the people who work there. I have simply never encountered ruder people everywhere within the airport. It must be a requirement to get hired at the Lisbon airport that you have to have zero social skills and be downright rude and unpleasant. In as much as an airport can serve as the welcoming point for any visitor and first impressions matter, you simply cannot go through this airport and come out of it with a positive impression. TAP often has some of the best fares around and it's always so tempting to use them but it's really a discount airline at best and their operations reflect the overall operations of the airport is being just absolutely poor. Do yourself a favor and Transit through other airports.

"it is the perfect place for the spread of the virus"

Trip Verified | Whoever authorized the use of terminal 2, which reopened July 1st should face criminal charges. The terminal was too small before the pandemic, now it is the perfect place for the spread of the virus. Terrible boarding procedures, change of gates, everyone stressed out and confused. Lisbon airport likes to treat badly people who fly low cost.

"Really unpleasant experience"

Not Verified | Really unpleasant experience. The most disorganised airport I’ve ever been. I was there 2 hours before my departure and still made it exactly on time for my flight.

"Utterly rude staff"

Not Verified | Utterly rude staff at the boarding pass scan entry. Again rude staff at the entrance of hand luggage scan. Terminal 2 looks like a empty hangar & is absolutely not suited for a safe wait. There is no way to stay a safe distance, even though it wasn't a busy day. I find it scary to think how it would look on a busy day ( even pre-covid). After a stay in Portugal I can only conclude they selected the most rude people from the whole of Portugal to work here. No idea where they found them .. every other Portuguese I met was really nice. Go to Portugal, but do not fly in/out of Lisbon airport.

"staff are rude, unhelpful and disorganised"

Trip Verified | Worst Airport I have ever visited. Avoid at all costs. The staff are rude, unhelpful and disorganised. We missed our first flight after queuing at the airport for 5hrs, the staff refused to help in any way! The next flight we managed to book on to was 15hrs later, the restaurants shut, so my pregnant wife couldn’t even get a bottle of water! The air con was switched off so the terminal was humid and uncomfortable. Absolutely disgusting. Genuinely there is not enough time or space on here to truly describe just how bad this airport and their staff are! This airport really lets the country down, the management team should be ashamed and embarrassed. I would avoid visiting Portugal again if flying to Lisbon was the the only option.

"Most terrible airport"

Trip Verified | Most terrible airport in the world I have traveled to 142 countries and never experienced such chaos and rudeness as in Lisbon Airport. The security is incredibly unfriendly, outrageous. They treat you very badly. Because of 1 bottle of tequilla, packed by the duty free in Mexico, they made a huge riot when I complained they wanted to call the police. It took me over 1 hour to check and queue in transit. Hundreds of meters of queues everywhere. Schrecklichsten Flughafen der Welt Ich habe 142 Länder bereist und niemals so ein Chaos und so eine Unfreundlichkeit erlebt wie in Lissabon Airport. Die Security ist unglaublich unfreundlich, unverschämt. Sie behandeln einen sehr schlecht. Wegen 1 Flasche Tequilla, eingepackt vom dutyfree in Mexiko haben sie einen riesen Aufstand gemacht, als ich mich beschwerte wollten sie die Polizei holen. Ich brauchte im Transit über 1 Stunde für die Kontrolle und das Anstehen. Hunderte Meter Warteschlangen überall.

"staff are unresponsive"

Trip Verified | After using this airport a lot I come to the conclusion there are much worse throughout Europe, nonetheless staff are unresponsive, know only the very basics, seem to be in a bad mood all the time with the exception to their fellow colleagues where there is always annoying chattering making everything last forever. Some of them can be provocative. But this is a trend throughout Portugal itself and I speak as a Portuguese citizen. Terminal 2 is not operating at the moment and that's actually good because it has no conditions to operate as a terminal by itself.

"made to feel extremely uncomfortable"

Not Verified | Was made to feel extremely uncomfortable by numerous staff regarding what I was wearing, I do not speak Portuguese and they insisted on communicating via that medium. Will not be coming back to this place. Complete lack of professionalism. Sort it out, giving the country a bad look before we’ve even got out the airport.

"the security screening is extremely slow"

Not Verified | An example of bad management and inefficiency. Stuffy and confusing layout. Too much retail space at the expense of a logical passenger flow. Even with low passenger numbers due to Covid the security screening is extremely slow. More than 1 hour to clear screening and boarding pass needs to be scanned twice within the same process. Second boarding pass scanner is not fit for purpose and further delays the process. Beware, there is a good chance you will miss your flight (I speak from experience!).

"I found the airport clean"

Trip Verified | It was my first time in Lisbon, Portugal and I found the airport clean and easy to reach the arrival welcome area. Just we face some crowd in the coffee shop, all services were good no issues at all. In Departure, it was confused because of the check in desks location as well the way to duty-free.
