Leeds Bradford Airport customer review

This airport still needs to try harder. The new layout still relies heavily on shopping food and bars but if you don't want to use these facilities places to just sit quietly are severely limited. We now try and arrive at the airport as late as possible to avoid the inconvenience in the departure lounge. Sadly we can't cut it too fine as security is still surly and slow! Arriving back into LBA doesn't improve the impression. The escalator up to passport control is still not working after 10 years (no quick fix here then! - shops more important). Elderly people left to struggle with their bags up the stairs and then a long walk to meet the rude and slow passport control staff. After all this you would at least expect your luggage to be on the carousel (after negotiating more stairs back down!). However this is rarely the case as with everything else at this airport at all goes very slow. If you need help with a trolley well that's another non-refundable £1 and then it's another £2 for someone to pick you up in the car park. There used to be an excellent Greggs in the check-in area which is now an upmarket trendy and very expensive coffee outlet.

There is nothing enjoyable about using this airport. Rip off prices and lengthy slow queues are its trademark. Use Manchester if at all possible.

Haven't flown out of LBA for 7 years and its had quite the transformation (which is still ongoing). Having to pay to pick up / drop off is the only issue I have with the airport and at peak times road access to the airport is terrible it could benefit from a rail link perhaps. Flew Jet2 to Budapest and back and had a great experience at LBA check in there was no queues whatsoever and security was the same. The new departures area is quite a transformation much different to when I flew out of LBA last around 7 years ago it looks great but unfortunately is still ongoing. New restaurants and a couple of bars as well as a duty free area give it a great feel bar was rather pricey but it is an airport. Boarding was smooth despite the old way of walking out to the aircraft was well signposted (unlike Budapest airport) and everything is fine. The airport is busy for its small size I think it could benefit from a major terminal expansion and possibly more boarding bridges but on the whole a great experience!

Made the last of my trips for this year at the end of October. What a change we have seen over the last 2 years. We can now seem the benefit of all the mess we have had to put up with in this time. Totally new seating in spacious well lit areas. New retail outlets with very wide corridors excellent gate signage new toilets and plenty of flight information boards. You can avoid the £2 charge now by dropping in the free time in long stay. used the new walkway to get to the plane on the apron what a difference this makes. Not really into the retail side but told good range of shops. Certainly the end results make up for all the pain we have been put through over the last two years will be a joy to turn up in March again.

What an appalling airport. Everything about it represents the worst of British from the rip-off fees for being picked up or dropped off at the front of the airport to the blatant way one is funnelled through shops before arriving at the departure lounge. Getting to the plane is like running a gauntlet of rip-off merchants and the security staff are slow ill tempered and rude. Luckily anyone in the Northwest can be better served by Manchester or Liverpool airports.

We didn't have to queue and staff were really good. The bars and food courts were nicely set out and we had no problems at all. Much better than Manchester where you have to queue for ages at every point. Only down point is the price of parking your car at airport very expensive considering we travelled from Blackpool where you park free and only have to pay to fly from the airport which is £10 each.

I cannot understand the ratings for Leeds Bradford. The Airport is absolutely fine - much better than most hubs or regional airports I've been through; and I travel frequently. The on site parking is very good facilities in the much improved terminal are pleasant and as for walking in the rain - there is a new walkway in the process of being completed. There is also a lot of fuss about drop off charges - there is a facility on site and you don't have to pay! Charges are no different to most UK airports and as for the immigration queues. I would much rather fly from LBA than have to trek down the hideous M62 to Manchester or Liverpool and their similar facilities; as for Doncaster the terminal is good but very few flights.

I'm afraid Leeds Bradford airport is a disgrace. Parking is terrible the drop off costs 2 pounds you queue for ages to get through customs and immigration. You likely to have to walk through the rain to get on your plane or failing that you walk to a bus. Overhead walkways are almost non existent. When you return there's only 4 passport control desks so just pray your flight is the only arriving at any one time. There's an escalator to walk up at the shed like entrance to the airport when you land and this escalator has not worked since I've been in Leeds which was in the 1980s. I'm ashamed of what people must think when they come to Yorkshire or England for the first time and this is their experience of it. But it seems the airport is beholden to no-one to improve. I've read comments 99.9% of which are severely critical but the changes made are designed to generate more cash for the airport not to improve the customer experience.

Having arrived by taxi in the pouring rain very disappointed to find that there was no shelter from the dropping off point to the airport door. Wouldn't it be a good idea to either let the taxi's drop off near the door or else provide a sheltered walk way to the terminal. Also we found seating quite limited.

I cannot think of any positives. You pay to drop someone off even if you're only there for a matter of seconds. The immigration and security checks are hopelessly inadequate and inconsistent. There are almost no seats available except in bars making you feel you must buy something if you want to sit down. You're kept waiting for a gate to be announced so you can 'relax and shop' confirming what I'm sure we all know which is that this airport is only concerned with taking your money. When you return you're likely to be bussed to a small door with an escalator that hasn't worked in 10 years. I've seen elderly people struggle up the stairs with their cabin luggage. There's no train connection and few buses. Last night when my flight was delayed instead of the restaurants and bars staying open so we could sit somewhere they closed and put chairs in the exits to prevent us from sitting down.
