Kiev Borispol Airport

Arrived to Terminal B from Aerosvit flight. Horrendous lines at immigration. Then 40 min wait for bags. Customs intrusive but polite. "Official" taxi is overrated asking more then UAH300 to the city instead of normal 160-180. Needless to say their English skills are zero. It is more reasonable to call normal city taxi on the phone and pay normal rate. On departure terrible scam with parking. Long stay lots seem to be constantly announced "full" to push people to short stay lots where you have to pay UAH200 instead of UAH80 per day (20EUR) which is unbelievable by local scale. Things are getting worse here.

Borispol is easy to use and comfortable with transport connections. All information is available in English Ukrainian and Russian. Reliable scheduled 24/7 Sky Bus city - airport transfer. Helpful staff. The airport is growing fast - 5 terminals now - one of the nicest airports I've been to in Europe in my view.

Very chaotic service although terminal itself is clean there are dirty toilets where you can literally step on the floor only using the filthy cardboard swimming in the water! Extremely rude staff with some rare good exceptions. Lack of facilities for disabled customers and horrible attitude to disabled passengers. Prices in the cafe are shocking. Wouldn't recommend.

Well of course its all changed now with new modern terminal buildings amid a huge expansion plan in time for Euro 2012. This will not make the trip a happier experience believe me. Expect to feel lucky if you receive your bags in the right place at the right time. Expect large queues to get through security - can easily take an hour when busy. Don't expect any courtesy throughout the whole procedure. Onward flights: you will need to be very clear which terminal you are flying out of. The other terminals are a fair walk away from 'F'. Lack of seating is standard as are toilets. Brand new terminal built to handle thousands of visitors and about 4 urinals. All in all from my own experience over the years I can't see how it can be anything other than one huge disaster. Leave acres of time between onward flights or else it will become an even bigger nightmare.

I use the airport possibly 30 times a year. The new terminal (F) is very good. I fly KLM and have no problems with check-in or the staff. Sometimes passport control is a bit slow but so are the major airports in EU.

A mile from the airport Terminal F is under construction.

Due to highly seasonal demand this airport is a much more pleasant place in any season except summer. The real bottleneck is passport control. This summer I spent over 2 hours in terminal F at passport control because passengers insisted on using the wrong booths and airport officials refused to do anything about this. It's a nice airport to fly into and out of especially now traffic has been separated across two terminals.

I have travelled through Borispol many times with my family. We have never had a problem with the process of arriving and departing. The only thing we find a little slow is when you arrive at passport control. This is slow. However I would say to the authority that runs this airport keep investing.

I used KBP twice last week for arrival and departure from Terminal F. Bag drop a breeze security search done quickly and electronic passport control - in the lounge within 3-4 minutes. In the departures area you can go to TGI Fridays (terribly overpriced) Costa Coffee and some duty free that has very mediocre choice. Plenty of seating free WiFi simple layout. No fingers to reach planes only bus rides after 3 staircase flights down. On arrival I used electronic passport control again bag was on the belt in 5 minutes so I was off the airport in 10 minutes or so. The new terminal is going to open soon and Terminal F will only have charter and low cost services. Foreign citizens should expect delays at immigration.

People in the information office were helpful and kind but they seem to be an exception as most other staff are rude disinterested and speak almost no or very bad English. Even the passport control officers at arrival can be intimidating. Money exchange at arrival was suddenly impossible as I was told I needed to show them my customs declaration. Despite seemingly lame efforts there is still the annoying taxi scam at arrivals. At departures they had 4 passport control desks for UA passport holders and one desk for everyone else - with 6 flights departing this says it all. They have serious problems to deal with.
