Whats the point in building a new airport in the Thames estuary (from scratch) when there is already an international airport already available at Manston. It has the runway to take the (largest) aircraft already built. I'm sure that bringing this airport up to the necessary requirements would not cost nearly as much as building an entirely new airport. The plans suggested for both these airports do not make sense to me at all.

Excellent airport. Car park to check-in to security to departure lounge within 150 steps!!. Then only another 100 steps to the aircraft. At the moment KLM is the only passenger operator using a small Fokker 70 so not busy at all. Only a small cafe but considering check in time and flight length to Amsterdam (35 mins) it is all that is needed. I have flown from here twice in last couple of months and both occasions have been a pleasure. Both have also been to connect to KLM long haul services from Schipol as got fed up with the journey time to LHR and the departure delays from there and the amount of times have to do circles around London before landing on return. Next flight already booked from here.

Manston is an excellent small airport. The staff immigration customs and police are friendly but still professional. Check-in was handled well. Security was a little laborious but was thorough and in no way objectionable. There is a small shop and a bar/cafeteria which considering the short amount of time needed to check in is all that is required. A great option for those traveling to or from the south east corner of England. I hope the route to Amsterdam is successful as it is so much more pleasant than flying from one of the big London airports; Heathrow in particular. I have heard that a rail link will be coming.

Lovely little airport parking 5 minutes from the terminal clean and quick and efficient security baggage handling etc. It is very convenient for those of us living in the south east However due to endless bureaucratic wranglings the airport is much underused and rail links to London are tedious.

My friends returned to Manston Kent International Airport from a Kent Escapes holiday in Mallorca in May. They were kept waiting outside of the terminal building between the aircraft and the terminal arrivals for all most one hour whilst waiting for one immigration officer to check all the 180 approx inbound passengers on the flight. Shame on the Immigration Service and Kent International Airport to keep passengers waiting on a cold and windy day especially when some passengers were in their seventies as my friends are.

Manston is a wonderful airport to fly out of I walked next to my bags as I left the aircraft and collected them withing two minutes. The airport's size means within another minute I was at the main entrance. Departure is wonderful check in was quick despite there only being six desks. Within the blink of an eye you are in the departure area. Don't expect vast shopping areas or money eating distractions here though.

Even though it is small this is one of my favourite airports. It's a 1 minute walk from the plane to the terminal baggage is normally on the belt as soon as you arrive in and the best part is the cafe not only is it cheap but they have excellent hot bacon rolls and the fresh cakes are excellent too. If only public transport links were better though I have been told the National Express service to London will soon call at Kent International.

This airport was previously known as London Manston which is a bit of a joke because of how far it is from London. However with a name change new terminal and new budget airline EUJet has started to raise its profile. I travelled through there on the way to/from Amsterdam. The airport is small which works to its advantage. Check in was very fast and the staff very helpful. The car park is right outside the terminal entrance and is very cheap (£5/day or £20/week). The small cafeteria is good and clean. The aircraft are right out side the terminal so no long bus rides or endless walkways. On the way back it took less than 10 minutes to reach my car from the time the wheels touched the ground (I had no luggage). All in all a very good experience.
