"tiny airport with almost no facilities"

(South Korea)

Not Verified | There is nothing good to write about at this airport. You must travel 3~4 hours from Boracay to reach the airport by spending almost 900 Pesos as of July, 2022. It is a tiny airport with almost no facilities. You will be allowed entry into the airport only 2 hours before the airport. If you reach early, either you can wait by sitting on the floor or go to numerous eateries outside the airport and have expensive and terrible food there. There is no free WiFi available at the Airport. There is no free drinking water available at the Airport. Although you can buy the drinking water from the small coffee shops on 3rd Floor. Please mind that you won't be allowed to carry water into the airport. You would be asked to pay 700 + 84 Pesos as the terminal fees. This is not mentioned anywhere, and you must pay this amount in cash.

"unhelpful and rude staff"

(United Kingdom)

Not Verified | What a joke, 700 Philippine peso per person to leave the island that we didn’t know about. Not on tickets, not made clear in airport. Extremely unhelpful and rude staff. Shame, we had a lovely holiday, but the airport was beyond a joke. No facilities and falling apart. Won’t be returning.

"arrival fine, departure a nightmare"

(Australia)

Verified Review | Extremely bad experience after leaving Boracay. 4 International Flights leaving at around about the same time creating utter chaos. First you pay 550-650 peso to make your way to Kalibo Airport which involves van to the pier, 15 min ferry ride to the mainland and a 1.5-2hour bus ride to the airport via a company called Southwest. At this point you queue to get into the airport showing you boarding pass and going through medal detectors / x-ray bags. You enter a small room which involves 3 processes which no one explains and you can't even see where lines end or start. You need to 1st queue to get your boarding pass (15-30mins) then queue to pay the "Airport Tax" 700 peso per person (a lot of people didn't have the peso left as most are leaving the Philippines at this point and had to go outside to arrivals to exchange currency and then re-queue to get scanned back in). The last stage is the longest at which you need to clear immigration which is a spiralling queue within the middle of both other queues (check-in counters and airport tax). The immigration line is 5 or six wide of everyone pushing in which funnels into one queue of people getting upset. Got to the airport 3 hours before my flight and boarded the flight 30 mins after the gate opened and 10 mins before the flight was due to leave. I only had carry on thankfully. 6 hour journey in total. Highly recommend flying out of Caticlan which is 5 mins away from the Jetty port to Boracay. Ticket costs can be double than leaving from Kalibo and you need to fly to either Manila or Cebu to exit the country first, however cost factor is not worth the sour taste Kalibo leaves in your mouth after an amazing holiday in Boracay. Total journey time in Caticlan would be 2-2.5 hours. Arrival was fine as I did not have luggage to pick up and could organize my ticket to Boracay from Kalibo while everyone else was still waiting for luggage costing 600 peso in total (Bus, Ferry, Pier Terminal fee, Environmental fee and small van to your hotel). You wait about 30-45 mins before the bus fills up and leaves for the Pier in Caticlan but it allows you to grab some snacks or a fast bite with many stalls and shops outside the airport. I hear the airport has free wifi and shops however I did not get to experience anything other then queuing chaos, needing to board as soon as I cleared immigration. Signage was minimal to none. Arrival was fine, departure was a nightmare.

"nothing seemed to work"

(New Zealand)

Power outages causing Air Asia's check in to be an old fashioned manual check in and the flight itself was delayed by 2 hours, resulting in many people being stuck in not much more than a glorified shed with no food and beverage outlets as these were after security. Galling that we still had to pay a terminal fee when nothing seemed to work. Also beware of porters hanging around who will snatch your bag up, carry it 2 metres and then ask for a fee. Next time I will go to Caticlan if I have the choice.
