Jeddah Airport

I get that it takes a long time to build a new airport. In the meantime can they please clean the bathrooms? Or at least supply toilet paper? This airport is too small too gross and clearly mismanaged. There's a million things they could do to upgrade it with very little effort while the new airport is under construction. What's most amazing is that it's the second-biggest airport in KSA. You'd think they'd have a little more national pride. In fairness my queuing times have been OK. I'm sure I just got lucky.

The worst airport experience I have had particularly while going through the passport control checkpoint. I stayed in a queue for 45 minutes and had to switch to another queue (to start again from the back of the line) when the officer decided to have a break - he simply left without alerting the people queuing. I was in the second queue for another 45 minutes - with 6 people in front of me - but I ended up waiting for this officer to process 14 people before my turn. When it was finally my turn officer decided to take a break he referred me to the other counter he then changed his mind and processed two more passengers who were behind me and left me waiting at the counter. The officers were chatting up a storm during this whole process. The long queues did not seem to bother them at all. To take >3 minutes to process one passenger is simply too slow in any international airport and there is no queuing system in place at all. If you had to fly into this airport get logical thinking out of your mind and allow ample amount of time at passport control. In my experience there simply wasn't any logical (or what one would generally perceives as sensible) system in place.

One of the worst Airports in the world and I've traveled to over 350 destinations around the world. After a 5.5hr flight from FRA to JED we spent a solid 6 hrs standing in line to go through passport control. Hopelessly overcrowded terminal no signage to indicate which queue is for which type of visa no seating no water no information or announcements and a filthy toilet. The Immigration officers couldn't care less. At one point the guy just got up and disappeared only to come back an hour later leaving passengers standing around for nothing. After 90 min. in line we were told we were in the wrong queue and had to go back to the end of the line in another queue - there were no signs anywhere to indicate which queue is for which visa type. After we finally got through our luggage was all over the place strewn in the arrivals hall. Never again!

Hajj Terminal. One of the worst airport terminals I have seen. Undisciplined and unprofessional immigration officers. No information will be provided at all.

One of the worst airports I have visited. The toilets are just wet and water everywhere smelt really bad. They closed off an entire section of the airport and put nearly 8 flights worth of people in 3 waiting lounges.

A truly awful experience. I spent 5 hours in a chaotic queue waiting to clear immigration. The immigration staff were rude and abusive and fights almost broke out on several occasions due to attempted queue jumping. This airport and the procedures in place there are a shocking (and fairly accurate) introduction to Saudi Arabia.

I've only visited the airport once and only the Hajj terminal. The worst thing about the terminal waiting area is that it is too hot. No air conditioners at all. The most annoying thing about the terminal is that it has air bridges but still you have travel in buses. The terminal gates are too air conditioned so you start to feel cold. But the facilities are good. The washrooms are clean and the duty free shops are good enough.

This is an airport from the 1970s! Poor surroundings staff with no customer service skills and the usual Saudi paranoia about gender separation and checking passports. Security at the departure gate is a complete farce.

No customer service no organisation luggage from different flights all piled up in the same place took me hours to find my suitcase. Complete chaos. Just very uncomfortable didn't expect this sort of service in a developed country.

I spent half of a day in the Saudi Arabian Airlines transit terminal. I had time and expected the airport to be like other new Middle-Eastern or Asian airports and so did not think twice about the long delay shopping hotels and restaurants are readily available at the aforementioned airports. The terminal is very small duty free shopping is very limited and there is only one place to buy food which is overpriced. Staff are rude and ignore customers. Seating is limited at peak times and wireless internet is available for an hourly charge. The bathrooms are filthy and stink of smoke. There is no place to exchange money and you will have to purchase an item from the duty free store with euro or dollars if you want to obtain Rials. As Westerners without visas cannot enter the country if you transit through this terminal you will be stuck here so bring some food and something to do with you.
