"what a difference a year makes"

Trip Verified | Wow, what a difference a year makes! I often go to Jakarta at the same time each year, early December. Since 2008 I came into the old terminal and the chaos of that airport, especially on departure. But last week, December 3, 2018, I arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport in Jakarta and had an early Christmas present! The new Terminal 3 is gorgeous, sort of like a mini-Changi Airport Singapore. Clean, bright, modern and fun! I used to hate going through immigration and waiting for bags because it was so noisy and chaotic. Now, immigration is quick and the baggage area is super efficient. In the old airport, once you collected your bags you were faced with the mess outside the airport where the taxis and buses are. The new airport seems to have much better facilities and even the "Blue/Silver Bird" kiosk is much better organized. On departure from the same airport a week later, it was again a pleasurable experience. Immigration was quick and easy and the shops and restaurants plentiful in the new airport. Kudos to Jakarta! An airport worth waiting for! Now if only you could get a dedicated high speed roadway into the central city, that would be great!

"Staff were very friendly"

Trip Verified | We arrived at new terminal 3 at 5am yesterday and our flight was the only one during that time therefore immigration was a breeze without any wait time at all as well as getting our luggage. The Staff were very friendly and helpful. Indonesians are known to be friendly.

"should not take more than 30 minutes"

Trip Verified | My main problem with the airport is the long time it takes for the baggage to be sent to the belt. It should not take more than 30 minutes from the time the aircraft lands.

"fix this ASAP"

Not Verified | While the airport is an impressive upgrade, the AC condition is a major, major, let down. We were here at night, as well as in the afternoon, and find that the AC only works during night time and at area far away from the glass building. Some of us experience difficulty of breathing, and slight headaches, due to the heat trap. PleSe fix this ASAP, thank you.

"like a labyrinth"

Not Verified | Went for a short transit on terminal 3. The arrival hallway was almost empty and locating the domestic transfer area is like figuring out how to solve a labyrinth if your plane was parked far, far away. The staffs were nice. Seating was good with a lot of relaxing chairs. Gardens and arts were spread out anywhere which is nice. However navigating one gate to another was a bit hard. One gate to another involves a 3 minute walk. Gates 17 onwards were located far, far away. Not many shops were open on that zone. And there is no passenger announcement system on each gates making the boarding slightly disorganized. 3 aircrafts in one gate. Overall this airport is not bad at all but I think the layout was a bit hard to navigate. Queuing time wise, speedy. Wi-Fi was pathetically slow.

"not very well planned"

Trip Verified | Terminal 3 itself is spacious, open and inviting, with numerous dining and resting options on both international and domestic side. It’s a major upgrade from terminal 1 and 2. On the negative side it’s underlit, not very well planned and with severe limits to AC turning the departure hall into a greenhouse. The worst however is the complete lacklustre planning of access. The train to the airport takes longer time to the city centre than taxi when you add the waiting time for the train and the shuttle you have to take first. Then the taxi planning is horrible with only one crowded lane and frequently 200 people queuing for 30-40 minutes. Finally pick-up is impossible to find inside the parking building, which also has a horrible planning including numerous bottlenecks. A shame since the terminal is supposed to be the new face of Jakarta and a major upgrade. Now often or every journey are somewhat spoiled due to these planning failures that could easily have been avoided.

"air conditioning simply cannot cope"

Trip Verified | Arrived at the new Jakarta T3 airport. Arrival was seamless and I was out and on way way within about half an hour. Departure wasn't so great. The new Garuda check in area was OK but hardly the premium service that I had enjoyed at the old airport. However security and immigration lines were short and I was through within a few minutes. Once through the main issue with this airport is that it is so big and so hot. The air conditioning simply cannot cope and all you see is people fanning themselves.

"It is like sitting in a Sauna"

Trip Verified | The air conditioning at this airport is abysmal. It is like sitting in a Sauna. The staff are all lazy and apathetic. The way it is designed means in general one has to walk around 1km to get to your gate. Getting a taxi outside is a completely disorganized affair, they don't even stop touts hanging around the forecourt offering cheap deals. I can't think of anything positive to say about it.

"a very nice experience"

Trip Verified | Experienced both the international and domestic areas of the newer Terminal 3 of CGK, from which Garuda operates its flights. In a nuthsell, it's a very modern, clean, efficient, (at the time of writing) un-crowded airport and overall a very nice experience. The terminal is simply massive and some gates can be quite distant, but there are some free little shuttles inside to navigate. Both immigration process and security check are a breeze, queues seem to be minimal and can be cleared in a couple minutes if you're lucky. The staff is overall helpful. The shopping/dining is average, but CGK T3 remains a very positive experience overall.

"expect a delay of 2 hours"

Not Verified | It is worst airport ever. The distance from the gates to immigration is too far. The taxi takes more than an hour of waiting. If you were to take Grab, they force you to go to L5 parking which takes your Grab driver ages to arrive. The planes arrival is usually delayed. The taxi/Grab causes even more delay. Expect a delay of 2 hours at least if you are landing at T3.
