Jakarta Airport customer review

Travelling through Jakarta International for many years now and I must say I'm impressed with the level of service they have inside the airport. However after you passed customs and going to the meeting point you felt unsafe and the officials need to start addressing these issues. There are so many taxi touts and they are getting so aggresive even after we said no. Once you are inside the airport you feel like different world.

Jakarta Airport customer review

Been here once or twice a month during the past 2 years lots of improvements have been made especially for the toilets in both terminal. Terminal 3 dedicated for LCC is currently under development located right in front terminal 2 concourse F. Shuttle bus between terminal is available for free. Thankfully there are official airport taxis (the ones with airport taxi sticker on windshield) with metered-rates and reasonable surcharge. Just ignore the men offering (sometimes even pushing) you to rent their car as a taxi. Lightning is still poor some gloomy spots here and there. Good news for platinum credit card holders since there are many executive lounges available. Bookstore restaurants cafes duty free shops are still available after departure immigration check.

Many things are great many things are bad. Strong traditional architecture used in this airport nice immigration friendly check in. The bad things are poor quality of facility (especially the toilets) sometimes only few immigration tables open while many passengers waiting in a long queue unmaintained trolleys sometimes you can find beggars in the airport especially when you are having food outside of check in area. One thing I really don't like about this airport is the big differences between domestic Terminal (Terminal 1) and International Terminal (Terminal 2). Terminal 1 has bad quality of maintain while Terminal 2 has very good quality. In Terminal 1 you can't enter full air conditioned room unless you are a passenger. Waiting room for accompanier located outside. But overall this is a nice airport.

The arrival section of the airport need to be improved. It's dark along the hallway heading to immigration. It's very different and contrast compare with departure section. Only 1 Visa on Arrival window opened. Overall it's an okay airport.

Soekarno-Hatta has a good architecture inside but its facilities need reparation. Not very clean toilets are a bit dirty and started to rust. Lack of information center. Lack of immigration booths at arrival (many unused) etc. On the plus side tourist can make their visa at the time they arrived Jakarta terminals are well-built and a very good drop-off and pick- up zone.

Very negative experience. Arrived around midnight from Bangkok with AirAsia went to the Visa On Arrival Counter and found out that 1 out of the 4 counters were open which result in a large queue. After having done the VOA went to immigration and again there was only 1 counter open out of 10 counters again large queue. It was hot humid and no air conditioning. Although there were a lot of immigration officials standing but only one works the rest was watching TV. This airport needs some professional staff that work.

CGK can't be compared to Changi or KLIA however pleasantly surprised with the lounge for LH passengers. Duty free limited and overpriced. Check in no queue at business check in however boarding the aircraft a bit chaotic.

Transferred from a Garuda domestic to a Garuda international flight this last trip (Jan 08). Arrived at 2F left from 2E so finger piers are adjacent. You have to proceed into the inner ring concourse passing one security check; then find the proper check-in counter in the inner lobby (international flights check in at a different set of counters than do domestic). Once you check in and pay your exit tax (still currently Rupiah 100000 at Jakarta) you return the direction you entered pass an audit desk that makes sure you paid the tax then Immigration then back into the inner ring concourse where all the lounges and shops are located. Can be confusing but still only took me 20 minutes total at 1500 hours on a weekday afternoon. GA Executive lounge quite good with an immense buffet; lots of choices. You go through outbound security again on the way to the gate in the finger pier so allow time - but there was no queue either so very fast. All in all an easy- to-use airport with friendly staff if you start to get lost.

Jakarta Airport customer review

As a resident in Indonesia have frequently used Jakarta Airport. Generally it works pretty well with always friendly staff at all levels ie check in / immigration/ customs down to lavatory attendents this of course is a good reflection of overall Indonesian courtesy. Entering and exiting the terminals always a bit of a hassle because of touts but the situation has improved and it's never overly aggressive. There is something very pleasant even uplifting about the architecture of the place as mentioned before especially in the departure areas and it never appears overcrowded. The Duty free is indifferent and the knick knacks a bit overpriced but probably good and unique transit purchases. The credit card holder lounges are a great idea especially for locals who often have to leave for the airport as much as 6 hours before take off due to the Jakartan traffic. However don't buy duty free on arrival as often the international branded bottles and packages contain pirated inferior products. All in all like Indonesia as a whole a safe and friendly enviromnment with reasonably priced and good quality food and beverages.
